Flash has no problem snatching Lex's heart out of his chest, but he flat out REFUSES to do the same to these 4 idiots? Superman alone being evil is GG without some super powers pill shenanigans like the Injustice series. They would all be dead the moment Brainiac is made aware of them.
Yeah, with superman it is ether you are killed instantly or you are already wearing kryptonite armor to prevent it. Those are the two options when it comes to fighting a bloodlusted superman.
Even in Injustice up until the end of Injustice 2 Superman is not a complete psychopath and has a twisted moral compass that stops him from just annihilating every one.
And the good guys are practically guerilla Fighters fighting an insurmountable force.

In this, the JL are just sneering evil fucks while brainwashed, so their usual morals have no bearing. Let’s say Flash does fall to the McMuffin nonsense because he toys with them too much, Brainiac should understand that there’s someone out there working against him that’s capable of killing THE FUCKING FLASH. Superman AND GL would be sent to crush this potential threat to his plan immediately. The SS aren’t exactly covert with their movements given that they’re openly fighting his minions in explosive battles throughout the city so they would be easily found.
More interesting writing would be that he’s still in there and fighting against Brainiac, they all are, so their real abilities are “locked” until Brainiac experiments more in other timelines getting progressively stronger…

It's insane that from the start Waller acts as if the Suicide Squad is both a bunch of worthless nobodies and the only chance of defeating the Brainiac, an alien invasion and the Justice League. She keeps threatening to kill them while they are her only plan for dealing with the situation.
The shield thing was also some B.S. from her.
Why on earth would you make it harder for your team to do their job by changing how their shields work, I don't know...

I can't help but think of Waller as the biggest stereotype of the stronk independen' Blaque whaman that's power hungry and a tyrant the moment she gets in power.
It's pathetic to watch.
Harley Quinn goes through the biggest change to her character offscreen, she doesn't care much about the Joker anymore, is critical of him, and no longer calls him "Mister J". She even kills Batman for revenge and her belief that he killed Joker is never brought up. Then we get into the fact that they made her relationship with Ivy canon, despite Harley being with Joker through Asylum and City, then still being in mourning and trying to bring him back throughout Knight (when Ivy died). Even her fears that are explored through the toxin are all regarding the team that she's known for a few days at most. She's basically a different version of the character now (and it doesn't help that the VA is doing a different accent than before).

Harley's original VA from the Arkham games died before this game was made, from what i heard. Its not an excuse for the bad performace, its bound to be different from what people were used to, but the bad writing is just the main turnoff for me at least.
She died offscreen and was replaced with Clayface.

I've heard Tara Strong do a decent Harley voice before. Someone please tell me who was smoking what drugs to elicit such a terrible performance from her this game.
My feelings exactly. All this Harley-isms in the DC can make you forget how deeper her first iteration is, this unhinged and unsalvageable dog in Joker's lap, to what she is now, Deadpool with mammaries.
It's like there's an entire arc we've missed with her, even from most of the comics and other DC media. No genuine self-reflection to the pain she was complicit to, the dark depths that she fell to under the Joker's grasp, Batman's attempts to get her out of this life, the ways she can make some sort of amends with the people of Gotham, not even a peep on how weak and vulnerable she was to be used and turned into Joker's lackey so easily for so long, and how she might not be fit to be a hero nor a villain. She's just another victim of the mad world of Gotham. None of that.
It seems like Harley was always a loose-cannon anti-hero, she just did the Joker's bidding for some reason. She always had her head up straight, she wasn't manipulated into it. She knew what she was doing, and she stopped doing it because her boyfriend was icky and yikes.
Notice why the game never shows you how the justice league got taken over? They couldn't explain it. They couldn't write it. Well, not that they could write any of the game.
There are ways you can do it. Batman Beyond did it with its Justice League episode. Superman got taken over by starro which he was taking care of since it was the last of its species and it orchestrated the takeover of the earth if not for the new Batman stopping him. Though it never made any sense to me why starro brought Terry into the justice league to find the traitor when it was the traitor.
Something like that could of been done in the game intro cutscene to set everything up. If done well, they could of shown Brainiac taking control of each Justice League member or getting them all at once somehow. Either way, just something.

Brainiac has to take over Batman or Superman first and by surprise, or else it doesn't work.
They do it in a voice recording thingy.. basically brainiac rocks up in his skull ship, everyone assumes (correctly) that hes evil. Supes want to exercise diplomacy (which is in character at least) while the others (especially batman) are sceptical. They all go to brainiacs ship anyway, not to common ground or anything and batman even comments on it but nah lets go to the big bads home base in a big ol justice clump. Then things go to shit and flash is only able to run WW out safely. I think thats the gist of it.
The excuse that: "its in the title, why are you surprised??" Just shows how little people care about earned storytelling. If its on the box cover then theyre happy for the justice league being taken down by little clown children who cant stop making shitty jokes
They don't understand that there are GOOD ways of killing the JL.

People need to stop using the suicide squad to take on these huge threats. Like the movies use enchantress and starro and this game uses brainiac who could be like a thanos level threat if dc made movies the way marvel did phase 1-3. The suicide squad is supposed to be for smaller scale black ops like in assault on Arkham where they break into the asylum

'Evil' is not synonymous with 'stupid'. Evil people are still rational human beings, because if you're just insane you're not really that evil, you're kind of just insane.
I've always hated when people cope by excusing poorly written villains as just handing waving it away with 'it's the villain'.... you're half right, it's a bad villain.
That is why Joker has been such an enduring character. There is a twisted logic to everything that he does.

These hack writers have an idea of what they want to happen and they warp the story to somehow make it happen with absolutely no logic or work put in to make it make sense.
Its like taking highway barriers, bending them around the front of a truck, and pretending that it works as a bumper.

The 2016 Suicide Squad movie misses the point of the team, in that they are used for shady operations that benefit Waller and the government more than any direct citizens of the U.S. They are not the people you call to stop an ancient witch that has taken control of a city, especially when you establish members of the Justice League already exist and fight crime.
This game gets it wrong in a whole new way. Not only does this team have virtually no "right" to be able to take on any of the League members head-on like they do, or you know, destroy an entire alien army just because they have a shark guy, and a jetpack... but Amanda Waller herself no longer has an expendable team. They are her only hope. She cannot strongarm them with the stupid neck bombs. She cannot afford to off any of them even if they disobey orders, because where else is she going to find help in this continuity? The Bat Family *that's already dead?* The story ends up making the squad look dumb for not realizing Waller has to be bluffing (if she's smart), and it makes Waller look lame for how many times she throws out a hollow "final warning", then just concedes she's not controlling anything.
Exactly the suicide squad isn’t supposed to be for large scale threats like this especially someone like brainiac who could be like a thanos level threat if dc built their movie universe the way marvel phase 1-3 was. The squad is for smaller scale black ops like the assault on Arkham movie

Another stupid thing about Brainiac becoming Flash as the final boss is that the Suicide Squad have a tool to deal with Flashs powers and have beaten him so Brainiac thinking "I'm gonna use the same power set they can counter and know how to deal with."
You can try to ignore the elephant in the room, but it's not going anywhere.

Imagine this game with a simple morality mechanic: as the game proceeds, maybe each character lays out their valid reasons (if you forget that they're VILLAINS) for hating each member of the Justice League. Someone could remark about how this could end up being one of the few missions they actually ENJOY, despite having bombs in their skulls. XD
And then, with each Leaguer you defeat, you get to CHOOSE whether you kill them or not. Choosing to save all the Leaguers, some of the Leaguers, or none of them would each unlock its own ending, and either toy with redemption for the members of the Task Force X - or a darker turn. Or somewhere in the middle, if you even chose to spare ONE hero. But also, you NEVER portray the death of a Leaguer as anything but a BAD thing. The members of the Squad may enjoy themselves, but the game should absolutely disagree with them, and be honest about how bad of a decision it is to take petty revenge on the greatest heroes the earth has ever seen.
That was, above all, this game's cardinal sin, if you ask me. It demanded that I somehow feel good and happy about a chance to kill the league. Sorry, I won't. I like my heroes to WIN in their stories, by and large, thank you very much. I'd entertain the idea if you 1) left it up to me and 2) were at least honest with the characters and consequences of your story choices. These characters are dim-witted twats, one and all, and their petty desires for revenge just pale in comparison to the greater needs of the planet, and the immeasurable respect one should have for the fucking JUSTICE LEAGUE, people who have saved the Earth dozens of times, saved billions of lives, and have even reached out and saved the whole damn universe in some cases.
And you, Rocksteady, want ME to ENJOY this? How deluded can someone be?
It really is a strange thing, but even the ads for this game seem to think that people are just looking for an excuse to kill the Justice League and I don't understand.

And they assume others are like them, when they're actually in the minority. Then, when they find that out, they double-down. Because they can't stand the fact that they're wrong AND they're the weird ones.

Shouldn't have been the Suicide Squad. Theres no reasonable way to write them beating the JL without plot armor and stupidity. It should have been the Titans since their roster includes younger, less experienced versions of most of the League. Robin/Nightwing is a younger, less experienced Batman. Superboy is a younger, less experienced, less powerful version of Superman. Kid Flash is a younger, less experienced version of Flash. Donna Troy is a younger, less experienced version of Wonder Woman. With these characters, we could also draw some emotional weight from them having to fight their mentors.
The only past member of the suicide squad who would stand a chance was power girl, but she was more an asset that got called in because waller had blackmail on her. The suicide squad isn't meant for shit like this.
Yeah but you see kid’s like shooters today, and it would be so much work anyway, imagine coming up with different gameplay and play styles for all of them, it’s not like rocksteady is a AAA multibillion dollar studio corporation, did you see the skins on guns? Pretty cool!

This actually sounds very cool to me! This would also eradicate the gun play aspect of this game, restoring a need for melee, thus meaning a game even closer to the Arkham games.
For the love of all that is good on this earth, can we STOP. USING. THE SUICIDE SQUAD. FOR. CRAP. LIKE. THIS?! Its the exact same mistake the first movie made, getting a bunch of borderline street level crooks to deal with demigods who have already BEATEN them makes no sense on the outset. This whole concept works the best when The Squad is doing shady black ops stuff for the government, and its so annoying because this concept is begging to be utilized for all sorts of interesting stuff and its wasted again and again. I dont trust that the glue-eaters who made this game could write anything well, but if they would've had a easier target to hit it might have made the miss not as embarrassing.

Yeah what made that aspect of the second movie work is that their mission was pretty much just to sabotage the starro project and remove the evidence that the US was involved. They only fought the giant alien and saved the world because of character development. It wouldn't have made sense if Starro was already rampaging and Waller decided that a ragtag bunch of C-list villains was the best way to take it down. That's what this game does but even more ridiculous because it's the entire justice league and brainiac and his army. Literally any group of superheroes is a better choice.
The only way I see this making sense is if they were being used for just one small part of a coordinated offensive against the League, probably one that's either nearly impossible (because they're expendable) or not at all important (because they're c-list villains) or both. Then, idk, they luck into some macguffin that makes them vital to taking down the League and character development happens so that they eventually decide to save the world and they've become a good enough team that they pull it off. They have to disobey Waller to do so, everyone is surprised that these goofballs managed to do it, maybe they rub it in the face of some heroes who they've been forced to work with who clowned on them earlier in the game, but they show that they're still villains at the end of the day, roll credits. I'm no writer but I think that makes a whole lot more sense than what we got. In no world should the Squad be counted on to save the earth from an alien invasion with the most powerful beings on the planet acting as brainwashed enforcers for the enemy.
Stop using the Suicide Squad period, at least until they're built up properly. It's so obvious DC desperately wants them to be their version of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but they either don't know or care that the SS are a completely different type of group, but DC just sees a bunch of wacky characters together, so fuck it. The whole appeal of the SS is that we see all these violent, unstable villain characters *that we already know* being forced to interact together. And they're not really supposed to be that big of a deal. They're the type of group to show up in someone else's movie or game, not have their own. So, I honestly don't see them ever being a big hit like GOTG, not for very long anyway. DC might keep trying to stuff them down people's throats, but it's never going to catch on.
Oh my god, I had no idea Boomer pisses on Flash's corpse.
That's... ok, so Flash (specifically Barry) has a *pretty* good repoire with his villains. The exclusion is usually his speedster rivals, (famously Reverse Flash), but Captain *fucking* Boomerang is like, actually pretty *ok* with the Flash. Sure, Boomer hates the law. He has a lot of reasons to. He also likes using reasons that don't personally apply to him as excuses to keep being a criminal when he could also *not* be a criminal. Right now as far as the comics are concerned, Boomer is a very angry, very sad, man.
Flash knows this is something Boomer's going through, and Boomer partly knows it's part of himself he can't escape. He's pretty keenly aware it's nothing personal with Flash. It's never anything personal. Boomer can't help himself, he has a lot of rage in him, a lot of pain, and his outlet is violence. He knows Flash can't stand idly by and just let Boomer do whatever.
The point is, there's no animosity so personal between them that Captain fucking Boomerang would piss on Barry's dead body. Like, I get it, writers really like writing Australians as super fucking rude and thuggish with "idgaf" attitudes as if they're neanderthal frat boys from the 80s. They hear stories about how Aussies cuss at their friends affectionately and make the leap in logic that being fucking heinous is how an Australian shows respect -- when really, because they're human beings like any other, they tend to show respect by being respectful. If Barry Allen died, you can bet Captain Boomerang would miss him. He might not mourn him, but, certainly, he wouldn't *PISS ON HIS CORPSE* like he's some fucking animal marking his territory.
God, what a fucking travesty. The "but they're BAD guyssss! It's what they dooo!" argument was dumb back when that terrible movie came out, and it's no excuse now. Even fucking Reverse Flash wouldn't piss on Barry's body. It's so juvenile as to be so utterly and entirely *beneath* an actual villain.
That's something you'd expect of the kind of no-name random goon that you would drop by the dozen in an Arkham game.
It's kinda ironic. There's *so* much you could do with the death scene of a member of the Justice League to one of their villains. Barry, if he was freed from mind control, would probably *thank* Boomerang, congradulate him, maybe even ask him nicely to consider being a hero full-time instead of a criminal. The death of a hero is a powerful opportunity, and clearly, we can see what the writers would do with such an opportunity.

Batman's death left a similarly bad taste in my mouth, specifically because this is supposed to be the same Batman and the same Harley from the Arkham games, yet there's very little fanfare. She cracks a couple jokes and then she shoots him in the head. That's it. These are two characters we've seen interact across three games. This is a world where the Joker is dead and Harley holds bats responsible, where bats was in danger of becoming the Joker at one point, and then everyone found out he was Bruce Wayne so he faked his death only to join the Justice League and (it's implied) no longer operate in Gotham. Which, by the way, if it's not just a poorly written line ("...and now Batman's story continues far from the mean streets that raised him" in the museum section) shows a complete misunderstanding of Batman. The fact that Harley doesn't invoke any of that history just feels lazy to me. I would have liked to hear her thoughts on Batman's place in Joker's death now that she's free from him and come into being her own person, or literally anything from Batman since he's the only hero who gets a chance to speak after the boss fight, but no, he just taunts her, and not even well. Maybe she doesn't want to shoot him out of respect, but still being brainwashed and all he really lays into her, telling her that she's nothing without the Joker, that she was just his pawn and she doesn't stand a chance against brainiac, giving her a chance to rebuttal and a little bit of impact to her shooting him. Anything would have been better than nothing.

I had to look it up. The algorithm was recommending me tons of videos on the matter, and after I heard this was canon to the Arkhamverse (maybe one of my favorite versions of Batman) I wanted to see how they sent out Batman, if Flash went out like this.
With all the context? Batman gets it way worse. Like, I get Conroy was happy to be an evil batman. He loved the role of Batman, I don't know many times he ever said "yeah that sucked, hated being in that" in regards to Batman, also, given this game's development, I wouldn't be surprised if all of what Kevin recorded made it into the final cut.
I digress though, my point is, Batman basically goes out taunting Harley like a child, intentionally provoking her, and then gets brained unceremoniously. The character whom this company was *built* on, gets one tapped by Harley after limply making fun of her.
Like... let's say Conroy's performance in its entirety was used. This is a video game, he worked on it well before he passed, and nobody was expecting to lose him so soon. So, naturally, you can't go *back* and *rerecord* lines to give him something else to say. You can't *UNDO* a whole 5th of your game just to give Batman a bit more respect in light of Conroy's death. I think a lot of people who are making arguments about how disrespectful this is are missing a lot of that perspective, and were expecting the death of *THE* Batman, to essentially force a hard reset on how Batman was portrayed, and killed, in this game, and people would be right to point that out.
Though, the Devs *arent* doing that, it's actually funny, they're pointing to stuff Conroy said and going "Well! Look! Looklook! He said HE was ok with it! Are you some kinda bigot?" as if the actor's opinion on the role he was playing he didn't get to live to see the end of matters more to people than the reality of the development nightmare that was likely the reason none of this was altered even slightly after Conroy died -- which tells me all I need to know.
Devs are *very* quick to blame circumstance when they can't please the consumer. It's a natural and fair response. "Oh it happened too late in development, we couldnt change it, we're sorry." is all it usually takes for people to go "ah man, ok yeah, that makes sense. That sucks, but it makes sense." and I'd honestly buy that. I mean come on, you can't predict that an actor is gonna die *RIGHT* in the middle of your project where the character they played is killed off. Who would blame them if they said something like this?

Which, is, at its heart, the problem. Let's say we didn't lose Conroy. He's alive and well and stands by this game and his performance, yadayadayada...
This is *still* the Arkhamverse Batman. He has mountains of history with Harley. These two have shared legitimately deeply emotional exchanges together. Of *all* the characters in this game, Batman is maybe the only one who *actually* knows Harley. This *NEVER* should have been the path they took, it's deeply disrespectful to these characters, the fans, and the legacy the company was built on. If Conroy were alive and saying this is the *BEST* Batman's he's ever played and all that shit, I'd be saying this exact same thing, because it's disgusting to treat the pillar of your company like this.
*THIS* game doesnt exist if *THOSE* games didn't enthrall people with your Batman.

And beyond that, both Deadshot and Harley have a history with Batman. No matter what Harley thinks of Batman (given that she has gone so insane that she thinks she had a romantic relationship with Poison Ivy and hits on her child version), Deadshot is a mercenary at heart. He doesn't get along great with Batman (since Deadshot is trying to shoot his targets/bounties, while Batman is trying to save them), but he doesn't hate Batman either. Deadshot might try to kill Batman if he felt that he had no other option, but he cares more about his own survival, and he certainly wouldn't beat/torture Batman before lecturing him to death.
This was THE most cringe version of Toyman so far..... and this isn't the first version where he's an Asian good guy with social issues 🤦🏽

The suicide mission absolutely needed to start off covert. A direct face-off with superpowered minions of a villain who is no-holds-barred.. it just shouldn't be a contest, even if Boomerang got a conveniently unguarded SPEED FORCE GAUNTLET. The game absolutely fails to make you feel like you've accomplished anything by taking the JL down, because at every turn they're giving you easy outs, keeping their distance, barking and not biting. GL takes you on a guided tour. The Flash, of all people, decides to attack you as indirectly as possible. Batman is commanded not to kill you, despite the rest of the game insisting Brainiac just wants you and your team dead, not captured. The whole thing utterly fails to let you believe you really are in danger.

But again the idea of this 4 chucklefucks taking on even a single member of Crime Syndicate is equally as ridiculous as Justice League.
This game should have been Deathstroke(he is strong enough to punch through cement blocks like it is paper mashew and is fast enough to dodge bullets plus a nice healing factor almost as good as Wolverine), Reverse Flash (He is a speedster and has genius level intellect), Blockbuster (He is literarily DC's Hulk) & Livewire (She has impressive Electricity manipulation and would add a good gameplay variety given how she can fly and teleport) taking on Crime Syndicate while the real Justice League is kidnapped by them.

Conversely what you're saying could be as bad as what we got if the writing was as bad, too. Rather than argue that it would be good if it were written good, the counterarguments need to be based on whether or not the premise itself would be something other than irrelevant or insulting. While swapping for playable villains that could actually stand a chance is a step in the right direction, that is not the claim I am questioning.

The fact Superman just didn't super speed to each member and laser them in the head until it was a charred black stump and end the whole "threat" posed by the suicide squad just ruins everything. You can't ask me to suspend my disbelief to that degree.
Mootal is right in that this should have been covert. But not only that only ONE justice league member should have been gotten by Braniac. Superman. He's enough to literally win every battle. But it is plausible that whilst Superman is mind controlled the League is stalling him so that "the suicide squad" can go on a suicide mission to get the weapon that can stop him. Only the weapon kills Superman which the Justice League doesn't want to let happen.
So now the Suicide Squad has to take down Justice League members that come after them inadvertently weakening the remaining Justice League allowing Superman to take over more and more of the city. If you're a good writer you even write is so that all the kills are actually accidents. The team just got insanely lucky or got help from Braniac cause he didn't think they'd win against Superman even if they succeeded and he also wants the Justice League dead.
In the end the Suicide Squad kills all of the Justice League members and Superman takes total control until they deploy the weapon and make him vulnerable. Then they have a hard fought battle and win, pushing back Braniac and getting their freedom. But they turn around and everything in the city is wrecked. So now the open world happens and you can run around and do fun quests taking back territory and other stuff. You know instead of literally defeating Braniac 13 times (12 times of which are future content DLC) as "end game" content.
This way they still aren't the good guys in the story. They are the bumblers who are making things a lot worse until almost by sheer luck they come out on top somehow. They objectively made things worse but did get to play the hero in the end whilst going right back to crime stuff.
A masterclass in malicious and incompetent content. What a waste of resources.

Me too. But as far as I know, there's no plan to according to Mauler. So far the only people who have played it are Mauler, Metal, and AZ to my knowledge. I think they will if the controversy around the game increases which prompts more members of EFAP to either play or watch the story. The entire point of the Squad is that they are an expendable team sent out for government black ops missions. They are not and should not be dependable to save the world or fight multiverse level threats. If you are going to send in the Squad as a last ditch decision here, they should've focused on attacking Brainiac first and get literally every known superhero and villain in the world to help out with this task. Why the hell was killing the Justice League, the first, last, and only option for the team?
See the villains winning over your heroes is a concept that only works when you have no information to base it off. Like that sort of story has been done and works but it's so hard to do with established heroes as most heroes are absurdly more powerful then villains as usually heroes win in the end. The problem with the suicide squad is that we know they're all humans with very limited powers versus essential gods. Most heroes work because you know when they're fighting the normal criminal thugs, they are holding back as they don't kill for fun or joy. Only killing when they have no other choice. It's one of the main distinctions between heroes and villain's. One will do almost anything to achieve their goal while the hero is held firm to some code or morality. Villains never ever hold back due to honour or that the person is innocent. Exceptions to very rule obviously but a corrupted Superman or Green Lantern or Flash wouldn't be like that. They would just blip you out of existence without a care as there's no longer any morality holding any of them back.
Yeah, like when darkseid shows up superman has to actively turn off his limiters because he realizes the dude is tough enough to take it, he isn't a normal dude that would be vaporized if he hit him as hard as he could.

What made me furious as well is that they used the arkham theme from previous games. One of my favorite tracks, it's melody had tons of different versions throughout the series, calm, dynamic, thrilling, triumphant etc. I listened to the whole arkham asylum, city and almost all knight tracks just to find all of the track's versions. And hearing the same theme in this game (knowing what happens to batman) was like a slap in the face...
Without plot armor they not even beating Batman. Arkham Batman has already fought against a stronger suicide squad and beat them pretty badly. The team he beat had a better deadshot, killer frost (metahuman), black spider (metahuman), boomerang, Harley, and king shark
It’s so dumb how, besides the David Ayer SS movie, this is the second attempt (from what I know) that the SS is made to try and kill the JL…..
I’m not a big comic buff, but my understanding is that the SS was formed by Waller so that they could do her simple covert dirty work; if they messed up, then they take the fall for it. Which all could’ve been better if the SS had a more competent storyline that was more action/spy oriented, but no.
Ain’t no way that these 4 normie villains with no actual superpowers are taking down the JL without any kind of struggle, or them all dying while even facing off on Superman. It’s all so dumb.

If they have committed themselves to two years of keeping this Live Service going, then Rocksteady won't exist after that.
Game won’t last 2 years. Unless it written in stone or they have already finished all that content. It has less than 4,000 players on Steam and less than 3,000 watching on Twitch. 1 year tops.
Either way Rocksteady will have layoffs in 3 months and close studio in a year with most employees being moved to other WB Games studios.
What is truly staggering is that at every conceivable point of decision making, they seemingly decided to make the absolute worst possible choice.
First and foremost, why on Earth did they decide to make it canon to the Arkhamverse? I know that is more recognisable, and is more likely to get people interested in the game, but with how they treat the source material, canon, characters etc. how did they think that any fan of the previous games would enjoy this?!
Secondly, why did they need to 'Kill the Justice League'? Yeah, that's a snappy title that peaks interest, but you could have had a way more interesting story of the Justice League being beaten down by a major DC villain, doesn't have to be Brainiac, could have been Steppenwolf or Darkseid, and because they're struggling Waller decides to send in the Suicide Squad to intervene undercover. Then there's a sense of animosity between the Suicide Squad and the Justice League, they are resentful of villains being hired to 'help' and just getting in the way. However, there could be moments of the Squad proving their worth and being valued. You could even have a whole arc between Batman and Harley Quinn where they start to understand and appreciate one another, sharing a connection over Batman feeling guilty for Joker's death. There's something there!
But if you HAVE to kill the Justice League then why not use the multiverse you set up?! Have it take place in a different dimension and then the Suicide Squad need to travel to the Arkhamverse to get Batman because they realise the only thing that can take down the Justice League, is a non brainwashed version of Batman. The Arkhamverse Bats is obviously very hesitant to work with criminals he has taken down so can still have those levels of Batman stalking them and potentially still having a boss fight with fear toxin based Batman.
Finally, if you really want to have everything that happens in the game, just have time travel at the end, reverse everything so it never took place. Have your cake and eat it.
Are these fixes perfect? No! But they would have been significantly less insulting to the fans of the DC universe and this video game franchise and may have yielded different results that would have increased the success of the game itself. I can't really comment to the gameplay because that just fundamentally needs an overhaul and new system.
It's sad that it's so disrespectful, it's worse than it was a waste of potential for what could have been a really interesting narrative.
I think I legitimately hate this game. It's just well made enough that you realize how much effort was wasted on this. The dialogue is AWFUL, the humor is (Premium) Cringe, the writers have no regard for any of how the world is supposed to work (which is really a huge surprise, considering how dedicated the writers were to the comics lore in the Arkham Games.), the writing is bad AND seems to legitimately - on a meta level - hate the Justice League on a deeply personal level for some reason.
I actually feel really bad for Boomerang, he's an actually really neat character in the comics. not incredibly detailed but what little he's ever gotten is pretty interesting. And yeah the absurd Flash hate is basically entirely original to the game, Flash actually has a really friendly dynamic with most of his recurring Rogues Gallery. Goes to the bar with some of them, remembers which ones have actual mental issues and to remind them to take their meds, etc. Flash has much less of a 'you can run at light speed you should never lose, ever' problem mostly because his stories are feel good fun.

The whole setup even within the mythos of the game and its world/lore is NOT believable. This lack of internal consistency goes against storytelling and investment. It's why people are fine with Batman possibly dying at the end of Arkham Knight, but not dying in SS's game.
I was quiet in these streams because I just had nothing to say. I was watching "NOISE COLORS NOISE COLORS NOISE COLORS NOISE COLORS NOISE COLORS NOISE COLORS NOISE COLORS" and I just had nothing. By the time the story would inflict itself upon you, I was too dazzled, and not in a good way, to really even register what was happening, let alone care.

There’s some copium going around that supposedly the JL we fight are all clones. In a better game you could say that’s partially why we can beat them. As soon as I learned that you had to shoot enemies in the legs, then melee them to get your shields back, I knew this game was gonna be absolutely terrible.

With Deadshot, this is the only layer to his character: he hates Green Latern for being a black cop.

Everything about the Story is stupid, they are all done the Moment they meet GL, if he didn't take them for a carnival ride because the writers thought it's cool... Look at dc vs. vampires, an evil lantern means death, just make a meat grinder construct and they are all gone in one swoop...
The open world and awareness issue can be easily solved... and potentially be really cool. Like how GL is busy fighting the flash, or kal versus Wonder woman. They could have directly had the evil justice league fighting the other super heroes. power girl, supergirl, oracle, black adam, shazam, etc. Which can be used to ramp up the tension as THEY all die, or get driven out. if Batmans attention is on Oracle and trying to outmaneuver her, it makes sense that he's mostly ignoring the suicide squad.
I could believe some tiny possibility that the SS could maybe on a lucky day kill one of those heros. But if we are in reality superman solos them easily.
The team should be completely replaced I agree. Deathstroke Deadshot, Lady sheeva for Harley, mirror master or captain cold for Boomerang(even weather wizard would be better), and black adam for king shark, there should also be 6 members. This is the most dispacable roster possible and if HAD to be this team, lower the stakes😑
I always thought the Suicide Squad was supposed to be a covert task force filled with expendable criminals so the government can say they had nothing to do with the secret missions if they get caught or killed. And they are put on near impossible covert ops with strange DC villains. Unfortunately, DC keeps pushing them as Justice League killers (when they arent) doing action shooter missions(instead of covert assassinations, stealth intel gathering or stealing important items or documents)
Task Force X just doesn't make sense to me outside of them being expendable covert agents doing assassinations and stealing.
Deadshot is a Batman villain with virtually zero interaction with Green Lantern. No idea why they hate each other specifically. And Captain Boomerang doesn't hate Flash beyond being annoyed at him for messing up his plans. Most of Flash's villains respect him a great deal and never go directly after him, aside from Grodd and Reverse Flash.

They make a game with a guy who's whole gimmick is different types of boomerangs. Ricocheting all over the place so that even flash can't predict them. He should've been a support class and kept his boomerangs instead of giving him the title captain sniper rifle

What really killed any respect I had for this game was the terrible character bio’s, in the arkham games I used to love getting all the character bio’s and reading through them. You could tell that the people who made those games really respected and loved the source material but this games character bio’s have the most blatant self insert, horrible writing I’ve ever seen. It’s almost as bad as the Spider man comic writer who self inserted himself in the comic and cucked Peter with Mary Jane. I will never buy another rocksteady game ever.

One of the things that gets me is... I hate to say it, but if you have this premise ("Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League"), the most tasteful way to execute it would be to invoke a multiverse.
Yes, I did throw-up in my mouth a little saying that, but think about it: instead of getting subjugated and mind-controlled by a villain, they instead somehow swapped universes with evil versions of themselves-possibly by a villain, who reigns them in so Superman doesn’t just blow-up the Earth or something.
The Suicide Squad gets sent-in and somehow finds correspondance with their universe's Batman, who had a contingency for this because... well, he's Batman. Good Batman (and maybe other members of the Justice League) helps guide the Squad through taking down these evil counterparts, but it's no easy task because Evil Batman would catch-on pretty quick and start sabotaging Good Batman's contingencies. Meanwhile, maybe the more potent Justice League members are more tied-up fending-off other superheroes.
So, the Suicide Squad not only has to infiltrate the city while evading detection, but also playing a game of cat-and-mouse with the Evil Batman, all while fending-off thugs or some other kinds of mooks.
With this out of the way, you can be as callous as you want with the Justice League, since these aren't the "real" ones, and they probably deserve whatever the Suicide Squad ends-up doing to them. Imagine the "pissing on Flash's corpse" scene, but the Flash in question is a genuine PoS. Hell, I think the "haha big PP" gag could've been redeemed if it was Good Flash watching on some sort of interdimensional view-screen instead of Deadshot who interrupted him. Not that I think the writers of this game would be able to make it funny, even still, but their odds would've been better, at least.

It's honestly amazing how the Arkham continuity basically ended up being the same as Snyder's DCEU thanks to this game. Think about it, most, if not all of the Bat family is dead, Batman joins the Justice League at a much later point in his life than normally, Superman ends up being turned evil by the big bad, Flash is an obnoxious psychopathic twat, the Suicide Squad is sent on a mission way beyond their pay grade, Arkham Harley is basically transformed into DCEU Harley offscreen, they even use that cringe guitar theme for DCEU Wonder Woman in her intro in the game lol.
Seriously, they butchered what's probably the best, definitive modern version of Batman and his universe and characters just to have the bargain bin version of Zack Snyder's shitty universe. Like, what the fuck lmao What a baffling and bizarre series of choices. It does make me wish this game was straight up set in the DCEU though. Imagine if this was the send off for that universe instead lol

Yea……..live service as a concept isn’t a bad one at all, if anything it’s actually ingenious.
The issue is that time and time again we’ve seen fuck up after fuck up as far as live service games are concerned, and over time it’s just attached a bad stigma that is just never going to go away.
Basically, labeling your game as “live service” is a recipe for disaster.
One of the best depictions of interesting evil characters is Dimension 20's Escape from Bloodkeep. Like yeah, sure they want to wipe out the world of men, elves, and dwarves but that doesn't mean they have to be douchebags about it.
It may not bother others, but does anyone else hate what affliction does to your gear? Like, I'd rather they have done it so that it's bullets you can select as a special ammo. I hate seeing little sparks of fire or ice on my wrist guns. Hopefully they add a feature to turn off that effect, so the wrist guns, bat/mallet,boomerangs, and little knifes appear normal like when you started the game.

These character designs are atrocious. There's just random stuff and colors plastered all over the place. Like their wardrobe was picked out for each of them by a colorblind toddler. Do you make it like that or does it come pre-loaded that way?
I'm not familiar with who it is exactly, but I'm almost positive the same people that came up with these designs are the same ones that worked on the designs for the Injustice and Avengers games. All these designs from all these games just look fucking terrible, and I doubt it's a coincidence.
