Nearly 70 per cent of drivers who properly prepare their vehicles for the winter travel season are still worried about winter driving anyway.
Driving's Justin Pritchard shares with you three wintertime driving tips that have saved his skin on more than one occasion over the past half-million kilometres of real-life winter vehicle testing he's done on the vast highways of Central and Northern Ontario.
Carl Nadeau, Michelin's winter driving expert, provides some insight and perspective on these age-old tips, as well as some advice on helping drivers practice them more consistently. A professional stunt-driver, race car driver and performance driving instructor, Nadeau has a long career of teaching people advanced winter driving techniques.

I was taught to drive 36 years ago by a fabulous, Young Drivers of Canada, instructor. She taught me all of this and more. Saved my life driving in both Peel Region, Ontario and Inuvik, Northwest Territories. So happy to see it still applies. I do have a tip for Justin in this video. Check your hand positions. 10 & 2 o'clock not 9 & 3. And I question those index fingers position. Now we need to share this video with everyone. Not my driving, nor my husband's that worry me, it's the other driver's who grab that space in front of you when you leave space, the speeders and the cockiness of the young ones.

Will be watching my hand position more carefully... I remember overhearing an interesting argument between 9:00 and 3:00, and 10:00 and 2:00, between a couple of race car driver types. I'll have to ask around and see if I can dig up the conclusion!

I just started learning how to drive at 34 years old.
I have my G1 (Ontario)
I seriously have NO IDEA how the heck anyone can drive in the winter here. I've been doing lessons with my Fiancee (A G driver with 5+ years experience)
And I have trouble telling where the turning lanes are, where the lanes are in general, slipping, fish tailing, etc.
Any tips, driving hacks, for a newbie like me? Like how are you able to tell where are lanes/turning lanes if the roads are covered?

Snow means slow
Watch your surrounding
pump your brakes if you have to stop
relax when driving take a big breath if you get nervous
