A long time ago I consumed the Divine Comedies and when I was done all I could think was "That all sound bad to me." Dante's vision of the After Life would drive anyone insane. It really felt like, for me, that Earth is paradise more than any post-life world. All 3 after realms pretty much find 1 thing for you and that is the rest of eternity. Meanwhile on Earth we get a little bit of all 3 and a bunch of things none of them have. If eternity is an unavoidable curse then I would rather live on an eternal Earth than in the Inferno, Purgatorio, or Paradiso. I've made it this far without being in God's presence. I guess I can relate to the villains in Fromsoftware games lol.
Strange. The last time I viewed this specific topic, that person said Dante had to overcome specific Deadly Sins to advance through Purgatory. Is there some truth to that?
Because Poems written in that time were classified as “High” or “Low.” High Poems are called Tragedies. They deal with serious matters and are written in an elevated, more fancy style. Low Poems are called Comedies. These generally have happy endings and are written in a more casual, everyday style and language. Dante’s Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso are all “Low Poems”, and so are “Comedy”
