Full highlights as the United States beat Lithuania 99-94 in the Men's Preliminary Round Group A match from the Basketball Arena during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Basketball made its appearance at the Olympic Games in 1904 in St Louis as a demonstration sport, as the competition was held between only American teams and counted as an event of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU of the USA) Championships.
At the Games in 1936 in Berlin, basketball joined the Olympic programme, where it has remained to this day. Women's basketball debuted at the 1976 Games in Montreal.

Respect to both of teams. Especially Lithuania
This is the Olympics, you'd expect the audio quality to be top notch
I thought my phone was trippin
You can expect but you CANT demand it, since your watching for free 😂
Latvian here. Always rooting for Lithuania when they play! Well done guys
right back at you
US has greatest talents worldwide, Lithuania has heart&teamwork:)
Isn't it called Russia? also hear u have big economical problems where there in small wages and everything is expensive lol
@@Pekrop7 ? what are you talking about? learn geography dude and history if needed
you mean American occupation haha
I'm from USA. USA vs Lietuva is one of the greatest international rivals. The 2000 match was one of legend this game and the 2010 USA vs Lietuva match are also good. I can't wait for USA to meet Lietuva again in 2014. The clash of two great basketball nations.
Its Lithuania
SOON
LkZjump yes very soon! :)
Bad Wolf Sadly, Kleiza and Kalnietis don't play this year. But we still believe! :D
Evil Anthony Davis Lietuva is Lithuania in Lithuanian.
Kobe、We miss You! You are always our HERO❣️
my legend, my honor may god be with you always kobe.
Lithuanian small country but we love Basketball so much
better than NBA
@@reala1276 no lol
USA is smaller and we hate it
Lockon Stratos uh YOU HATE IT. WE LOVE IT. WE INVENTED IT!
CanadianAmerican Patriot maybe
Lithuania had a really good chance at winning this, USA scored a lot towards the end, great game.
Lithuania fell apart towards the end with turnovers and careless play
This game is so close, you can see how difficult this game for the mighty USA but I love how mamba trusted the king to keeping the ball and win the game
i remember this game played night time here in the philippines when i was in highschool. I just woke up, I was shock when i catch my father watching seriously on the screen, and i realize USA was only up by 4.
I know we normally don't count moral victories but this is most definitely a win for Lithuania, to even compete with this us team
for the most teams - yes, however top tier teams are incredibly coached, as you can see at this stage of the playoffs
man, americans looked really worried in 4th quarter lol.
Great game.
Ghyll But then won the game.
They came and thought they was going to be easy coming off that Nigeria game but then they started to play professional ball against a solid professional team like Lithuania was
Who save the game
Awesome game.. so much respect for Lithuania
US has greatest talents worldwide, Lithuania has heart&teamwork:)
Is it just me or is the court level sound 15 seconds late?
Aidan Mone you are right.
Aidan Mone Synchronizaton sucks
+Aidan Mone I think about 3 seconds earlier.

Ik
1:54:19 Durant so unfriendly xD
24:18 Tony G sighting. He probably screaming GET ON YOUR BIKE AMERICANS !!! lol.
lol
good game. Lithuania was the only team that actually came close to beating usa
I heard Nigeria came close tho?
Respect to the Lithuanians.
Spain was close
Spain was close, but people don't realize Lithuania has been a dominant force for years.
***** somebody clearly doesnt understand sarcasm
This was the best match up. The USA had to recruit the older Kobe to boost the youngens defense.. RIP to not the only the best scorer but big time defensive player of the game THE ONE AND ONLY BLACK MAMBA..
Amazing teamwork for Lithuania! The only reason they lose is turnover, next time, be focus
Props to Lithuania, you guys can ball.
Can't really watch this when the sound is ahead of the video
Holy Awful Audio Syncing Batman!
...shut...Up..!!
Why are people complaining about why kevin love is on the USA team when he is amazing in the paint and he's a very good 3 point shooter.
David The Boss
US has greatest talents worldwide, Lithuania has heart&teamwork:)
Lebron just too damn clutch!
Basketball is also Lithuania's most popular sport by far. In the USA its all about football.
Funny thing is our basketball "godfather" (Lithuanian guy) played for US in 1936 olympics where he won gold and then in 1939 European gold with Lithuania. We have strong ties with basketball, there is just not enough of us to produce the talent in the amounts to rival you guys. I watched 92 Dream team live on tv when I was a boy. I still remember where I was when we got beat by 57 or something. No one compares to those players.
OMG! this was the greatest game i ever seen ,lithuanians did so well...and good job to Lebron james and the USA team ... that was a awesoome game i fought lithuania will win but i forgot what USA can ...
Lithuanians* Lithuania*
***** yeah... so what...?? admit it ... Lithuanians can ball .... and they are like the 3rd best country at basketball
"greatest" i already see you don't know anything about lithuanian baskrtball
Kleiza once had 41 points in a game with Melo in Denver a few years ago
Kleiza had 50 points game
...SHAME...!...SHAME...!...SHAME...!
I saw this live, one of the best moments ever.
I think I know how Brits feel about Americans commenting soccer now
@Estela Lopez whooosh
I always come back and watch this Team USA game the most it's the only game where they had to play real Basketball
This was a beautiful game to watch, very intertaining👏👏👏👏👏👏
very nice team Lithuania... down by ONLY 5...
well I'm just saying, and many people would agree that American teams rely too much on individual performance and skill, rather than teamwork and cohesiveness
No one cant stop usa except lithuania
Greece can
Daniel Cruz the point is basketball is not chinas national sport.
Anastasia Kanetouni 9 years ago...
philippines can
greece can cuz lithuanian teach couches :) how to play
Nice game. All players are truly competitive. Congrats team usa.
I love coming back and watching these replays but the audio and video sync is waaay off. Its little distracting
is the audio delayed for anyone else?
Nope.
yes
It is a true delight to see another country do this well against America. I am an American who grew up playing basketball and this game is a great testament to how well Lithuania is going to do in 2016. This Lithuanian team may win the gold in 2016.
Lebron, without Kobe, may have something to say about it. It will be a great game! I can't wait!
no team USA is too good now, no way in hell will Lithuania win gold next year.
+Dion Lyona Lithuania never had awesome - Blossome squad, what we do have - what is not geting older and serve us well from first EuroBasket till now is HEART!!!
+Olivia Waller Well half of this Lithuanian team is either retired or not playing on that high level.
+Dion Lyona I agree with that, team USA right may not have Westbrook, Curry, Kobe, Lebron, Davis, Kawhi, CP3, etc. Those individual talents were missing, but they have a better season right now. They used to rely on drive, and run n'gun game, but now that they are implying a new game style, and adding the great shooters on the team? it would be tough for any team to beat them.
+Totoy Bitoy right now*
is it only me or is audio before the video? wtf it's the OLYMPICS and they're screwing up videos!?!?
Haha def not you man. Weird!
Kobe Bryant 🔥🔥😍😢
Thank you Kobe
You can tell the announcers don't like the USA winning all the games
Right, it's almost like they WANT the other team to win. And we just keep on winning.
become man and play fair next time jewSA your doping
Hyena laughing matter first of I’m Jewish and the name JEWSA is a new one ( a plus for creativity) second of all. We play fair. We just were better.
@@canadianamericanpatriot2601 until you wake up to the true of reality.
Everyone talks about how had Spain gave USA a hard time in their matches. But don't acknowledge their games against Lithuania when in fact this nation had beaten the US many times.
Damn, It's so interesting how a country like Lithuania with only 3 million people would play this good. My Uncle's co worker who is Lithuanian who works as an auto mechanic said that his people there are very laid back. I mean laid back and I watch this game, wow.
We have not 3million , we have 2,5 million :/. But we all love this game and (Mes uz lietuva)
Lapinas Žaidžia 2.94 mln.
Jack Hoff Talent is everywhere bro, just saying.
I also felt like lebron was a massive team player in the London 2012
24:17 spot the poker player HAHAHA ON YOUR BIKE
I watched this game at the olympics actually in the arena but this is a great replay so i can see more details in the game! thanx for this vid!
And americans had the audacity to say this is just "team c"???
This is the best team of team usa they struggled against Lithuania lmao
Commentator is really dumb sometimes... Lithuania dont have expierience , Kleiza and JV was in NBA, Jasikevicius was in NBA, Songaila just come Back from NBA, and other guys was really good in Europe, I was always wonder why Dukes Marty didnt get his chance in NBA,
Pocius was amazing :) Even for Kobe he was hard to guard.
wow Lithuania made the US sweats in this game ...
decent challenge?? That is an understatement, ive never seen coach K sweat so much
Was there another game going on or is the sound not in sync with the video?
you are correct and it is really annoying
great game but bruh what's with that background sound, very distracting and annoying. it's even louder than the comentators.
No, you are arguing childishly with someone over youtube about whether America is the better team at basketball... which we obviously are, while you should be aware of how we are slipping in the world competition.
Is it just me or do the whistle sounds come way before the foul in this video? Is the audio messed up?
its lithuanias 1 of the best games i seen them play
Are you still alive ?
USA was so scared that they gona lose lol
@Deimantas Vispulskis
Scared? They were winning by
9 points with a minute left!?
So why would they be scared?
Nice to see Lithuania play well against the USA, the only team to give them a decent challenge.
Spain that year and now it's france
the best players in USA, if you want to win, the most important key is the strategy
the sound is all messed up
Who's here after Lithuania beat USA in the 2023 Fiba Basketball World Cup? Anyone here?🤗
Ayo!!!!!!
Kobe is great
USA is still better. Not trying to devalue team here, but USA is all around far better. USA :can: play isolated because of their extreme talent, but can also pass extremely well if you look at their games. Lithuanians puts a decent amount of focus on basketball, and Lithuanians are generally large, which leads to a decent team. Props to Lithuania and USA.
every game between LTU and USA is a close one
Big heads off to Lithuania!
just here after Kobe's death
Honestly Chris paul did pretty good job with the stealing and rebounding.
this is really exciting game!!! love it
The Refs whistles all filed for disability after this game....
Jesus does this British commentator know anything about the NBA or their players?
This isn't NBA basketball, it's Olympic basketball, and he knows plenty about that.
taylormade060600 i。🐸,,
🔥
#6 took over in the last 3 minutes, saved USA
Number 6 is lebron james
That "#6" is the best player on the face of the planet lol
Joao Simoes de Carvalho He said #6 like he's just some random guy
Especially since they kept calling out his name after he shot a basket.
If you don't know who #6 is .. u probably never even seen a basketball in your life lol
46:49 lol hardens face
Can't wait for the 2016 basketball team. Curry harden Lebron durant and Davis r gonna start and sure locks for the teams. Gonna be excited to see who makes the cut
It's most likely gonna be the rookies, every since Paul George got injured not that many "Big Time stars" played in the Olympics
they have stars in their own league
L I T H U A N I A 🇱🇹
You gotta give Lithuania some credit for giving usa a fight out there
how is the audio off on all of these games. do they even put a second of care into editing these videos. would take like 10 seconds to fix this
You should check out the Nigeria USA game. Melo hits 37 points in 15 mins 10/12 from 3???Crazy game
Westbrook needs more shooting practice hours!!!!!
Sarunas Jasikevicius is a legend, but he nearly ruined the game with this turnovers. And for a deadly sniper as he is, Simas Jasaitis took just one shot and was doing poorly in defence. The rest of the team were just brilliant, especially Linas Kleiza.
Sound is ahead
It would have been awesome to see D Rose in that Olympics if it weren't for his AC
Hi guys I am from Lithuania, but I respect America, but I thing for Lithuania it was no chance to stop Kevin Durant .
Lithuania was the only team who had a chance against the USA
Very impressive considering their population is under 3 million and the USA has a population of about 317 million.
Why does everybody use that excuse, china and India have over 1 billion people and they suck fat balls at basketball.
Daniel Cruz
Thats because the majority of their population is poor. And it's a different culture. You can't compare it. And basketball is far from popular in india.
Jerry B Andérson Poor or rich it doesn't matter. Do you know what type of people basketball is popular among in America and where do you think some of best talent in the USA came from? I'll give you a hint it was not an upper class white suburb.
This shows that the US is no longer a dream team at +20 points. There were times when even students could go to the cup and win gold medals. Basketball has become very balanced and that's great.
Nahzzz, what happened with the sound?
I agree it's more than just a decent challenge
almost videos of olympic channel are off by some second... they dont care about video quality...
One thing that never gets mentioned is that the USA is also the smartest team with the smartest players.
One thing that never gets mentioned is that the USA team is full of steroids
1:51:35 Kobe pass to Lebron, not KD.
Well we are obviously the best at basketball. We've been the best at basketball since 1936.... that's kinda a given. But lately we have been sacrificing teamwork for individual performance and it shows. We have also sacrificed big men in the NBA. This you need to be aware of. Cause honestly beating spain by like 7 points is shameful considering we have a team of Lebron, Kobe, Carmelo and Durant. It shouldn't even be close
big countries like usa/france/germany/russia/brazil/spain et cetera should be broken down based on population/wealth so we can actually see real games. and don't give me china/india arguments, especially india because they are so broke. china dominates in many sports.
imagine these basketball games, they would be great:
Lithuania vs Long Island national team (about 10 million pop)
Croatia vs Los Angeles County national team (about 10 million pop)
Serbia vs Illinois national team (about 12 million pop)
***** that actually sounds nice
They don't do it for any other sport so why do it for this? Look at soccer tiny countries do fine in that sport.
5rocklobsters i'm saying do this for all sports... and no... just no, tiny nations don't do just fine in soccer, that is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. soccer is dominated by big countries and some small countries work there way in once in a while by over achieving (just like other sports). how many world cups has germany, france, england, spain, brazil, argentina, and italy won compared to every single country with 3 million people? (there are dozens of countries those size) (: can you even name one small country that won it all? there is only one!
5rocklobsters and if you need evidence for my soccer claim go here, it's for 2010 but i will do 2014 also (pop = available population which accounts for anyone living on at least $10 a day and between the ages of 15 and 64, this is why i say wealth matters too... people need nutrition as well as leisure time in order to be good at sports): docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16izHFOKdbiSzRqj-ykeVQaqNJZ1SY8uPYHo2TFO5vcM
wealth and population contribute to potential of sports without question.
Siidi Hassan yes, the games would be insanely intense more than anything international basketball has ever seen (:
It's not as close as its made out to be. US turned on the gas whenever they got close and Lithuania choked at the end.
Dude, I'm American and even I know Lithuania can ball. They have a population of 3 million people vs our 300+ million. lol that's like a 1 A highschool taking on a 5 A highschool.
Miss you idol kobe
