Hi +mya rocks I have gone over and left a comment at that video. It is not that the Walnut Hollow is a bad extruder... it is just with heavy use mine got stripped. There are people who have stripped their Makin's as well. That is what is so nice about the way this Lucy Clay one is built... little to no chance of these ones stripping. Using a calking gun is a great idea for the Sculpey extruders... I have heard of several people doing that before. Others have come up with all kinds of levers and devices to help with pushing the handles on those buggers. You'd think they'd take those off the market and come up with something better. They are in the business of working with polymer clay after all.
I came across this extruder about a year ago when I saw a sample of the puzzle die and I have been lusting after it! It just looks amazing!!! I can't wait to get it.
@@221b-Maker-Street I actually did get it about 4 or 5 years ago and I love it more each time I use it. It's so easy to use, clean and maintain, that my only regret is not getting it sooner. In the past year I have developed arthritis in my left hand and the Lucy extruder has make it possible for me to continue to work with clay. It is expensive, but the time and money I save vs cheaper extruders make it worth it. However, since you're still new to working with polymer, I would hold off unless you know it's a medium you want to invest in. This extruder and my custom pasta machine were my only two really expensive items, but for me they make a world of difference. Hope this helps.
Thanks for this video, Cindy! I love my CZextruder, and also my Lucy Slicer. They're pricey .... but brilliantly engineered and actually worth every penny! If anyone is hesitating .... these are great tools that will last!!
I decided to order this today and i cant wait for it to get here. Thank you for the review I tried Sculpy extruder I hurt my hands pretty bad and just about gave myself a hernia. I have carpel tunnel in both hands so I thought this would be best for me. Like I said in a few of your videos Im a beginner and I feel Im only as good as my tools. Thanks again I didnt order the board, but I think for the price I paid with shipping it wasnt to terribly bad. 130.00 for the extruder the disks some extra o rings, plunger and lubricant. I cant wait to get this. By the time it arrives I should be all healed up.
I been wanted to order one but for the price it made me want to wait until there was a better review at that time. You sure helped me make a decision today. I just place an order for the box set and the baking rack too. Thank you once again for sharing this review as always you do a wonderful job.
Hi OhBabyItsEva You can use crazy glue to put the leg back on your little clay Jaguar. It should at least hold for now so your son can hand it in to the teacher. E6000, Weldbond or Gorilla glue would work too but it may take a little longer to set and I know you're in a hurry. Good luck!
Just got mine today, watching this again to see if I can figure out better how to set it up and use it. The directions aren't that clear, no diagrams either. I wonder if you got a bonus plunger because I only seem to have the one in the bag with the extra o-rings. They seem to have taken your video into consideration and have included a little container to store the discs with a diagram on the front but it's not very sturdy. Thanks for all your great videos.
Another very nice new tool for polymer clays. I have the old style palm press extruder that needs Arnold sized muscles to push tough clay through...I find it beneficial to simple use some diluent and soften the clay before use. \\][//
Where can you buy the smaller extruder? I went to the website and Etsy store and I only see it on the website. However, it seems their checkout capability is not working :(
I need urgent help. Yesterday was the first time ever working with clay. I made a jaguar for my son's school project due tomorrow. My toddler grabbed it and broke one of the legs. What type of glue should i use to fix it? I used sculpty ploymer clay.
Having used it for more than a year are you still happy with this tool ? Do you need to push the white part with the bands out each time you start a new extruding ( and put it from the other side ? ) Thanks Rachel
Is there a way of converting to USD on the site? If there is, I can't find it. On the Lucy site, there's special offered. I didn't see that special on the Etsy site. Thanks!
Help! First, thanks for responding so quickly to my question about quenching. So , i can't believe I have bee n doing this, I use a toaster oven to back my (Premo) clay and found that I needed turn it to 250 for it to actually bake at 275. Somewhere along the line, don't even know how long ago - I started setting for the temp to BAKE at 250. I always bake for at least an hour - but do I need to go back and rebake everything at 275?
have you tried any of the dies for this extruder in either of the other extruders? I love the idea of those dies but I already have a walnut hollow and i really don't need another extruder.
You could just buy the Green Makins Extruder and use it until it breaks. If you are gentle with it, it should last you a long time. Then if you end up using it enough that you break it, you could then invest in the Lucy Clay Extruder. It is the best and will never break, but it definitely is much more expensive.
Very interesting video. I recently bought a Makins extruder but loved the dyes that go with this new extruder. Could you tell me if the dyes for this extruder will fit in the Makis extruder, please?
GREAT!. I have seen them on the net and loved some of the shapes. Will have to treat myself. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Love your videos.
Do you have any idea why they didn’t thread the Teflon o ring guide directly to the main cam? Is the reverse feature most extruders have what rips up the o rings?
@@nokiot9 You need to lubricate your o-rings with Vaseline or something equivalent so there is no friction between the rings and the barrel. I have never broken an o-ring on any of my extruders. In regards to the LC design, I think with how large the diameter the threaded rod is being fairly close to the diameter of the plug, if they tried to attach them as one piece, you would probably have issues with it breaking at the join. I have had my Makins extruder break at the join and the tolerances aren't near as close as they are on the LC Extruder. It was probably a lot simpler and ultimately a lot more durable to have the pieces separate... but you would have to ask Jiri the engineer to know for sure, why he designed it that way.
Hi Cindy! I just want to check on something you said (I think) which is that the dies for the walnut hollow extruder will fit the czextruder. Is that true? Thanks! love this video.
Great! thank you so much for the reply. I thought I might be able to use it with my sculpey extruder (if that's what it is, one of those ones where you push the plunger down) but it was just a bit too small and not sturdy enough and it just bent. Off to Michaels tomorrow with my 50% off coupon. thanks for doing all these videos!
PolymerClayTutor Ooooh, I thought they were plastic, lol. I wondered why they would make such an awesome product and sell it with plastic dies. That's good to know. :o)
I've just bought the CzeXtruder & the discs (I live over the border with Czech Rep. :) and, yes, it's definitely the Cadillac or Mercedes (the European way) among extruders. Sturdy, clever design and soooo easy for the hand ! The price is ouch ! high but Christmas is on the way so I took care of my present myself. Every detail is delux and so nice to use. Thank you for the review again - it helped a lot to come to a decision. I have a question about the extra rubber ring - you didn't put it into extruder adding to the plunger, did you ? And do you clean the extruder with a babywipe wrapped around the brush ?
+Margot4454 You don't need to use the baby wipe... the brush on its own does a good enough job. Congrats on getting the extruder! It truly is a beauty!
thank you for this info about the walnut hollow cause I was going to purchase it in the near future :o/ what was the name of the really good one ?? thanks again so much :o)my other question is, is it any easier to clean than the other extruders? this one seems like the best one & love that you can hook it up to an electric drill :o) makes it so much easier yeah :o)
Yes, the Makins Clay Core Adapter for making hollow core tubes/beads fits nicely in the Lucy Clay Extruder. This is the gadget I am taking about: amzn.to/3ewSW9J (Amazon Affiliate Link)
Well thank goodness I never went out and bought the Walnut one, could you please go back and put a note on your last extruder review video telling what happened to you. I was just about to purchase a walnut extruder after watching your video but got a great idea to use a cocking gun to push the clay through my small sculpey extruder that I had just unhappily got in the mail the day before, because I found couldn't push it. I made a bad video about it because people should know. You can check it out on my channel :) PS love your channel and all your vids:)
the flex shaft kinda has a adapter ... and if you have a harbor freight close by ... you could get a foot peddle (like a sewing foot on/ off ) to plug the drill in and it would be ready to use and easy on off with your foot... hugs dudediva....

Hi had checked this out on her site. Thank you for doing a video. I think I know what my hubby is getting for his anniversary!

Hi Cindy, I have this Extruder and I want to know if it is possible for the extruder to divide products into equal size?
I definitely saving for this. Making's has the adapter for the drill, but doesn't include all the other extras.
The end cap kept getting wonky on my Makins & bent. Ordered this new extruder.
