If I had a nickel for every time Jet Lag had a contested judges decision against an orange, heat-based robot that he eventually won, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but its weird that it happened twice.
I can understand why Jet Lag took the decision, but personally would have given it to Hot Wings. In my eyes the "damage" caused by Jet Lag grinding into the TPU/forks was just as superficial as the "damage" caused by Hot Wing's hot tips being blocked by Jet Lag's gold tape. With damage equal, I think control and aggression go to Hot Wings
all the comments are wrong. Hotwings lost as soon as it was disabled against the wall and flipped on its back. The decision that jet lag made to flip it back over was sportsmanlike, but really just something to keep the viewers happy.
I think it should have gone to hot wings. Their robot worked exactly how they wanted and they were aggressive. Their control was Soo much better. They did get stuck but jet lag weapon literally did nothing to hot wings and they didn't really connect their weapon the whole match. If they kept fighting, jet lag would have eventually died

Without thinking about the judging criteria it leans slightly towards Jet Lag but a split wouldn't be out of the question, even with Hot Wings winning. Knowing the judging criteria, though, it leans *heavily* towards Jet Lag. Getting your opponent stuck is better than just pinning them. Unsticking your opponent is also more favorable then letting the house bot unstick them.
i saw this during the live and felt upset that the wings did not reign supreme.. even the driver of jet lag was surprised. Rigged i tell ya :) but ya great match.

My take is that at the end of the fight, the heating tips of Hot Wings weapon were not working anymore. You can see near the end of this video that they aren't glowing red anymore, and the last hug doesn't cause any fire or smoke. In the full stream they showed them doing functionality tests for the judges after the fight, where we saw Jet Lag spin up its weapon and Hot Wings perform a hug, but again the heating tips didn't heat up enough to glow. So that may have counted as significant damage against the primary weapon of Hot Wings to give Jet Lag the win.
I actually agree with this decision. Hot Wings really didn’t do anything with the heat things. Didn’t really cause any damage or slow down Jet Lag. The turning point to me is when Hot Wings was turned on its back, giving Jet Lag the perfect opportunity to nibble at the back of the bot. Despite not doing much, I think it was enough to win the fight

neither bot did noticable DMG lean it Jet Lag cause they at least have kinetic and tossed HW once or twice JL(3-2)HW Control Hot wings had JL pinned for a majority. even with them getting stuck. & they "won" control of all collisions JL(2-3)HW agression. they both ran into each other the whole match, except when JL didnt have a free pin shot. because they were so equal with theyre agression when both on their feet i think my brain is telling me the agro point has to go to HW. JL didnt take a free shot 🤷♀ JL(2-3)HW --- Hotwings up 8-7... hella close call no matter how you cut it ---

Ngl a normal flame thrower(clyde) feels way more useful than those tips The bot is just a really good control walker robot, with a gimmick almost useless weapon Heat feels like a nice niche with plastic being so common on low weight classes
Hot Wings is cool as hell and has had some extremely good fights where the weapon has been really effective and won them fights. Sure, a flamethrower may be more useful in some, or maybe even more, situations but that doesn't mean that people can't build cool and unusual stuff which they enjoy designing, building, and driving.

So I initially thought hot wings won this match…BUT watching it again I would say Jet Lag had the edge on control and damage. There’s very little damage difference, in terms of levels, between the two, but you can see Jet Lag really chipping and kinking away at hot wings. But then there’s control - Jet Lag got this as while they were very balanced, Hot Wings got stuck on the wall and couldn’t really free itself (as far as I could see, the house bot may have nudged it to help it land on its feet). That’s a loss on control points as 1. that’s a bad position to be in and 2. If you can’t unstick yourself, you get less points. That’s how I’d score this anyway.

these are battlebots drivers too so you are came to the right place
So I initially thought hot wings won this match…BUT watching it again I would say Jet Lag had the edge on control and damage. There’s very little damage difference, in terms of levels, between the two, but you can see Jet Lag really chipping and kinking away at hot wings.
But then there’s control - Jet Lag got this as while they were very balanced, Hot Wings got stuck on the wall and couldn’t really free itself (as far as I could see, the house bot may have nudged it to help it land on its feet). That’s a loss on control points as 1. that’s a bad position to be in and 2. If you can’t unstick yourself, you get less points. That’s how I’d score this anyway.
