What makes an authentic Korean bathhouse? The right humidity and temperature. Unfortunately, this spa was missing that component. The body scrub station was built right next to the door, and they kept the door open at all times which keeps the bathhouse dry and lukewarm. I understand that most visitors there don't use the self body scrub station - the visitors here were mostly non-Korean. So it makes sense for them to have this less functional facility for body scrubbing. If you're interested in more authentic Korean spa experience in New Jersey, I recommend you to visit King Spa. Would you try an authentic Korean body scrub?

I went to one, for the first time, last month. OH MY GOODNESS! So much wonderful. I live 4 hours away from the closest one. It has been a month and now I need to go again. I was afraid of the scrub but about 2 minutes in, I knew it was the right decision. I felt like I needed a new name afterwards. Should I bring the scrubbing woman flowers next time? LOL I feel like it but I will just tip her generously. :D

Thank you! I just had my first korean spa experience yesterday here in CA, but wondering what is the best order to do it right? (Hot tub, Cold tub, Wet Sauna, Scrub, Dry Suanas ? ) - that is what I did lol

I think you did it perfectly! I would only add an ice room to that list perhaps to tighten pores and cool off at the end. Wish you many happy spa days!

I decided today to go to spa island Because they have same gender spaces. They have body cleaning hygiene guidelines.

Great! Yes, Island Spa is definitely a decent American-Korean spa. It’s just not a fully functional Korean bathhouse for some reason, but I assume that most customers aren’t Korean, so I think it serves its community well.
