    I'm 66 years old and a lifelong hot rodder/drag racer. Thought I knew my share about Holley carbs until I saw your previous videos . You have an uncommon ability to explain in layman terms. And then you just disappeared leaving us all hanging ! Where you been,in prison ?....thanks for coming back.

      No not in prison, but it's good to be back, thanks for the kind words, you know I am 64 and I still get excited about learning knew things , just an old hot rodder that loves racing, thanks for watching.

      Thanks Tim for the cool words , you know we have seen a lot through our years, I always loved to learn something new, and thats all I ever think about, people told me I would grow out of it , if I live to be 100 , I won't never change,.take care Tim.

    Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Seems to me that carburetors are making a comeback. Thumbed up and subbed.

    Thank you thank you!! For sharing this old technology!! I love holleys!! Love them!! It’s neat to learn more than what I know about them. I like that they have the least moving parts the better especially compared to the Edelbrock junk carbs.

    Thanks Randy for all your videos and explaining things the way you do. Do you have any videos on how to make something like a Holley Ultra XP 850cfm carb and modify it to make more CFM like 1100cfm or so? How do you go about doing that? I have a pair of short deck BBC 565cid's for offshore marine hi-perf boating...top end should see about 5800=6000rpm. I already bought the Ultra XP 850cfm carbs, but I think they're going to be a bit too small for my application and I know they can be modified to increase the CFM---I do not know much about Holley carbs, but I am learning quickly---Thank you, again. Mark

    Why do some carburetors have a third circuit ?

    • @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90
      @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian the 3 circuit holleys are designed for strictly racing, they are not designed for fuel mileage, the added intermediate circuit richens the mixture on a race engine, giving you a good throttle response when your on the converter launching off the starting line.the fuel flows through a tube just under the throttle plates. Hope this helps.

      I order my boosters from BLP racing products, annular boosters are a good choice for bottom end power and mid range.

    • @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90
      @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never seen a downleg annular booster, I know they make performance step down boosters, I have used straight leg annular boosters on alcohol and gas carbs. all I can tell you is they work great. I believe bolaws performance offers the annular boosters in 8,12 and 16 hole. Hope this helps.

      I think your confused about annular boosters, annular boosters are named annular because of the way they feed the fuel in a circular manner around the booster. Hope this helps.

    I have 2 850 holleys on a 555 cid bbc With 6 71 suprcharger would like to put 750 throttle plates on them will it work??

    • @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90
      @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you might do better with 750 main bodies and 850 throttle plates, which have to be modified but work well. You could try it with 750 throttle plates and the 850 bodies , but I don't think that will work like you want , but who knows with a supercharger.

    I picked up a 3310-2 today, noticed when I got home one of the front boosters melted. What caused that to happen? Also where can I get a replacement? Holley isn't carrying it anymore.

    • @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90
      @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try BLP racing products, melted boosters can be caused by several problems , firing order incorrect, exhaust blockage , extreme overheating , intake valve failure , flat tappet intake cam lobe wiped , and the list goes on.

    man you have the best videos, im building a street strip small block with a tunnel ram . i have a pair of 1850 carbs can i epoxy the jets on the secondary plate and drill and tap it for screw in jets ?

    • @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90
      @holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike I would drill and plug them with a 6/32 blank and seal it with blue loctite that will seal off the jet holes, you can epoxy it. But the sealed plugs are one and done, and yes you can drill and install jets. Remember tunnel rams need big accelerator pump nozzles to keep them from back fireing and man they are cool, nothing looks better than a tunnel ram sticking out of the hood. Let me know how it turns out. Have a good one.

      @@randallcribb668 I have a first gen demon 750 vacuum secondaries on a single Plane on a 350 .060 over 10.5:1 compression. I modded the IFRs but set them to stock .033. Idle bleeds are 59 pri and 63 sec (stock no mods). Hi speeds are 39s. Butterfly's are drilled all four sides less than an 1/8". Running isky z35 cam. Gets about 8 in of vacuum at idle around 900 rpm and 18° initial timing. Problems is that I can get the idle clean w/ good off idle response, great cruise but WOT hits a lean spot I can't figure out (AFR reads 12.5-13 on idle). Part throttle is good - AFR dips to maybe 11 steadies to 12.5. No load cruise is nice around 13.5 AFR. When I go WOT from stop, at the top of first gear I see my gauge shoot lean - up to 15/16 AFR. When I let off the throttle for a second and pump squirter I get enough fuel to patch me through to the secondaries. I've tried a bunch of different power valves. On a 5.5 right now. The 6.5 doesn't help. My trajectory is looking at drilling the PV restrictions or air high speed bleeds. Any advice/observations/or admonishment is welcome 🍻

    • @randallcribb668
      @randallcribb668 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSaxon25 try changing your high speed air bleeds first going two sizes down at a time , if that does not help you could change power valve restrictor to a larger size. It would be better to use high speed bleeds
