Always prefill filters through the smaller outer holes not the large center hole. The small outer holes are the unfiltered side and the large hole in the center is the clean filtered side.

How about bleeding air out of the fuel system?

Thanks. I have a sailboat, but appears similar process. Just have one filter as primary with a gauge on top.
So, if the reading goes higher change the filter right? Would you suggest for a yanmar 3hm35f whether bleeding engine is necessary if you fill the filter with diesel?

the fuel in bowl is dirty should be removed, the dirt from that dirty filter has trash in the bowl. Not done right

So the filter catches all the crap. Then you let the crap drip into the housing. Not correct. You should drain all fuel from the canister first , then remove the filter. Then refill but only from the outside of the element

DO NOT EVER prime your secondary filters with a jug of diesel. Use the primer pump on the engine to fill the secondary with the bleed screw open. Using a jug of diesel to prime a fuel filter gives the opportunity for very tiny pieces of contamination to make it past the filter. It is just being too lazy to use the hand primer that causes people short cut the proper priming by using a jug of diesel.
