    I live in an outlying community. It is slightly cheaper here, not by much. But, we are ALWAYS hotter than LHC. In saying that, no matter where you live and, I have lived in many places, you have to deal with something. It's either heat, cold, ice, tornadoes, flooding, hurricanes, rain, etc, etc. So, pick your poison and decide your long term goal. If you don't have a goal, none of it really matters.....

    Was at Havasu twice a year in the 60s, or three times if my father was racing in the Havasu 500. Most of the time we camped on a small island about a mile south of the city, which was not much of a muchness. It is amazing at how the city has grown.
    Spent a couple of summers in Needles(Uncle was a deputy there), and every other summer doing reinforcing ironwork in south Ca., so the heat was just something to live with.
    Living in NE Oregon now.

    Love to visit Havasu but could never understand how anyone could live there. Summer is so dang hot and like a ghost town. Out of control spring breakers in March and April caused us to pause buying a vacation home

      Spring break can be crazy, and summer is hot, winters are amazing, and the people here are great, everyplace has pro's and con's. As locals we have been able to find ways to stay cool and avoid the craziness

    • @TerryTunes
      @TerryTunes 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No ghost town here ever, in summer Havasu is full of Californians here with their boats and jet skis, a lot of them own second houses here and then later retire to that house. Spring Break is mainly confined to the lake and mostly to the channel. So easy to never even see a Spring Breaker, just don't go to the channel or Kokomos/Turtle. The heat - people's homes are no higher than 78 degrees (AC), cars are the same (AC), the stores/restaurants/all buildings are cool with AC. And you might be lucky to have a pool to float around in, if not the lake is free.

    i have been living in havasu since 1999. alot has changed. covid destroyed this town with Airbnb. too many people went on a bidding war on homes just to make them short term rentals. all the new tiny homes to rent are through the roof. many small businesses are taking hits too with rent going up because investors are buying commercial for way more then they should be. there is way to much greed in this town. nobody is making new homes in the $300-400k to bring people in to work, they are all about building the $1million plus.

    I have a few old Havasu newspapers stashed away, one has a home builder's ad that says "3 bedroom, 2 bath home on your level lot - $17,500". I've been here 53 years now. Sad to see it grow so much, liked it a lot better back then. We also had more to do back then, we had a roller rink and miniature golf. Unless you boat/jet ski/golf, everything else is pretty much spectator sports here.

    Hospital and medical services should be a big consideration, especially for older residents. Hospital is physician owned and “D” rated by Medicare and very few specialties. The only endocrinologist moved away, Nephrologist just left, vascular and heart services limited, Urologist too booked to see you, among other limited choices. My wife and I have lived in 5 states (tornados, hurricanes, snow, ice, humidity, wind, rain, arid and HOT), and every type of weather pattern & seasonality. It never ceases to amaze us how many folks move the TX, AZ, OK, NV, NM (just a few states as example) and complain about the heat? In today’s search engine world which didn’t exist for 3-1/2 of the 5 states we’ve lived, there’s no excuse for moving somewhere and not TRULY comprehending what the weather is typically like. Our only negative about AZ is the dryness (harder on the skin the older you get, but we’ll get a water softener or similar once we’ve a home of our own again), but WE KNEW THIS before we moved to AZ. We live in a greater metro area simply because there’s more for us to do, and it’s less time consuming to do it, lol. I prefer the heat (sweating) and exercise year-round in AZ. However, I’m mindful about the time of day and how long I spend outdoors to be frank. If AZ weren’t as hot as it is then there’d be 50 million people living here-no thank you! The heat keeps many away and causes many to move away…
