Non-stop rain leads to landslides in Penampang and along KK-Tenom road

A landslide following continuous rain caused a stretch of road between Penampang and Tambunan in Sabah to collapse on Monday (July 1).
The rain also caused landslides and mudflow at several locations in Penampang as well as between Kota Kinabalu and Tenom, severely affecting road travel within the district.

With the increase in rainfall and strong winds this will become a common occurrence .
The state govts. must make sure that regular surveys are made along the highways , esp. in the mountainous regions to identify the dangerous areas .

Making worse what bad roads we already had. We've big guns then & now in the government, but nothing doing. It's a nightmare if you've a slow, heavy lorry at the front. They cause traffic congestion even up to a few kilometre long. We need an overtaking lane at some stretches of the highway..
