I beta tested this game, it's a lot of fun but this is a pretty fair review. If you like the Mythos or the investigation styles of Sherlock, this will be a good game for you to pick up. It is a little flawed, but its certainly better than average. A pity about the typos, might be worth getting a second print run if this is a big issue.

Off-The-Cuff Gaming - The Dunwich Horror, Shadow over Innsmouth, At The Mountains of Madness and The Call of Cthulhu are his best novellas in my opinion. For a super-creepy short story, try The Music of Erich Zann. For a three-page (!) story that I think encapsulates almost everything about HPL, read Dagon (an early work of his).
Peredur Webb-Davies Nyarlathotep and The Hound are good too. Shadow Out of Time and Haunter of The Dark are good. My favorite is actually Whisperer in Darkness.
I love su&sd but when it comes to Lovecraft, Paul and Quinn’s anger at the corruption and misrepresentation of Lovecraft seems to skew their view of a game. I love lovecraft literature but what’s wrong with the slight corruption we get in board games. A game can be lovecraftian in nature, but not a full on representation of lovecraft mythos.
This notion that Lovecraftian horror must always end in characters going insane comes from people is coming from people who haven't actually read more than one or two stories.In several stories the protagonists solve the issue and defeat the supernatural. In The Dunwich Horror, Armitage sends the horror back, and doesn't go insane. He wins.
If you like the idea between mashing Lovecraft Mythos and Conan Doyle books, Neil Gaiman has a short story, "A Study in Emerald"... worth checking out, there is also a boardgame, don't know about that
i wish i cared about lovecraft themes....at all. such a wealth of games in the genre. the only one I enjoyed was the escape the room that my city has. doesn't matter though, video was still great.
A while ago .. another show . The Totally Rad Showused to create fake homages to popular film scenes. That XFile spoof was bloody well done. Also .. we want more Bruce Harwood in the Canada office !

A good lovecraft game is like a good episode of the Twilight Zone: If the characters understand ANYTHING, it's slightly off.
