This brought me home in my memories.. My dad had anywhere 400 to 650 sheep. Those shearing days were so exciting for us children.. we got to pack the wool.😊 This job was done by hand at first. The neighbors would come to make a few dollars. My mother and older sisters would prepare great food to feed our shearers. Us kids ate last after workers were gone back to shearing. After awhile, the electric tool was introduced. That was fast and only one or 2 guys took care of shearing. Not as much fun for us kids cuz we were used to playing with other kids (cousins). Bringing in the sheep and stomping (packing ) wool. This was easier for my parents cuz mom didn't need to make big meals and this lasted only 3 days ???😮 Wow, those were the days This was in northeast New Mexico.
I love how you all are supporting Connors endeavors and allowing him to use your platform to learn himself in these new roles! Bravo you guys. Thanks for letting us watch your growth, Connor! We are rootong for you, future farmer!
You did great Conner! You are so blessed to have parents who teach you and your siblings about the farm! You will have this knowledge for your future and teach your family as well! Blessings to you Conner and to your family!❤️
Great job, Connor. I look forward to seeing more videos with Connor. Very articulate, intelligent, and very RESPECTFUL AND APPRECIATIVE. Kudos Mom and Dad :)
Good job Connor! Valuable skill! Our sheerer retired last year. He came from Wales to the island every year to visit family and sheer sheep in the area. He was a master. Fortunately he apprenticed a local to replace him... but boy could he sheer a beautiful fleece.🐑
Remarkable work! Such a clean shearing job! This video made my day 😍 love to see folks skilled in their work and willing to patiently reach and instruct the next generation.
Nice work! It's a tricky skill to learn. I hope you get more practice in the next round of shearing. Do you folks use your wool? If so, I'd really like to see how you process it and make beautiful items. Much love from the Midwest US 💖
Good job Connor! It is harder than it looks! I always had trouble finding shearer's in these parts but when I found one watching a good sheerer is like poetry in motion - my cousins in Falkland's do hundreds and they post about it often - so interesting to watch. I have come to the decision though that the taller a person is, the harder it is on the body...;lol Good video!
He did great! I tried to shear one of my sheep this year and promptly cut off my finger tip! Also your rams fleece was beautiful! A spinners dream with those colors

Great job Connor. Hank is a gifted shearer and teacher, so patient and helpful. Val C
Hank also did a great job teaching! He’s a humble guy. He used to do my sheep. We’ve known him and his family for many years :) Love N. Idaho life!
Love watching Connor grow into a farmer. You've done a great job mom and dad

So much beautiful wool. Great job.
Nice job Conner on your first try shearing your sheep. That would be an interesting job.
I don’t think I ever forgot the guy who taught me how to do This late 7080s. Lol! We use a flex shaft. Much easier and quicker.
Hank is my shearer, he uses a flex shaft for bigger jobs.

Carolyn, can we see a full process of the wool? From sheep to what comes next to prepare the fiber then prepare it again to spin into yarn?
My dad sheared sheep as a young man. I wish now that we'd had sheep so I could learn.
ETA, they did not have electric shears when Dad did it.

Ouch! Get it fixed?
@@thistles comfrey and calendula helped heal it up but it's a bit flatter then the other
@@sunsetstella8917 I’m sorry 😞 glad it’s still functional!
Good job 🎉
Most guys in Canada that shear , also farm, and try to grow as much hay, corn and whatever else their rations are for their sheep.
What do you do with your wool?
Hank, talked himself out of a job ;)
I enjoyed the content, but I did not enjoy the extra background music. The amount music was quite excessive.
