Hey Joe, you drove up Mt. Evans over the Mt. Evans highway. It was named Mt Evans by the founders of Colorado, I spent 69 years growing up in the area. My family Homesteaded where Rocky Mountain National Park is today where they built a cabin camp they rented to trappers and hunters. As a kid I backpacked on trails behind my parents who were following my Granddad up through the though High Country lakes and beaver ponds where we all fished for next weeks food supply. Please, the influx of Californians who came here are changing names of our ancestral heritage because it triggers them, we prefer to call our highest mtn road MOUNT EVANS. Anytime you want to see the real Colorado, let me know, we can go on a real adventure.
I’m so sorry. I know how terrible it can be when a group of outsiders, come to your land, take it over, and then impose their version of history, thus erasing your heritage and culture.
@@RVingWithJoe You can't learn anything from history by trying to remove parts someone might not agree with. We live in a great place because we learn from our past. Since you rented a Jeep, next time drive up Scofield pass along the Crystal river from Redstone to Marbel CO.. One of the most scenic jeep road that passes the famous Old Mill and walk through the worlds largest marbel finishing room where Marbel was shipped for the Lincoln Memorial, and the Tomb of the Unknown Solder. Thanks..
I was there on that mountain in late September. A storm blew in and I barely made it off the mountain. White out conditions, thunder snow, roads instantly covered with multiple inches of snow. It was really hairy. It had been a beautiful day until it wasn't 😂😂😂
You drove that jeep like you bought the full coverage insurance. I'm surprised the Jeep rental folks didn't toss in a couple bottles of oxygen for a Canada dwelling lowlander. Thanks for taking us along for a glimpse of what's happening at that altitude. You should look into the invite HighCountryRambler made for a real adventure. Bring the oxygen. Nice video, Joe!
I drove a new 1988 379 Peterbilt bobtail to the top of Mt. Evans. The 14k elevation caused it to put out a bit of white smoke but other than that no problems.
Above about 8,000'/2,500m, High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) and High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE) can be an issue for those without acclimatization.
That's Mount Evans I've hiked it and beirdstad another 14,000 ft peak very near. My dog and I are trying to hike them all 44 new peaks and counting 🐕

Hey Joe, you didn't see even one Turdickin rig?
I know.... no one sent us any and I was too busy to go internet-hunting, but #25 has them... coming VERY soon.
Are RVs actually prohibited on that roadway?

That mountain top peaks nicely, similar to those eyebrows, man!
You can take your rv from Colorado Springs west over Pikes Peak try that someday 😊
Beautiful area. I just would not like to have to struggle to get enough oxygen!
Joe, nice video!
