How to Hide and Show Items and Sections in Moodle 4.0

Thank you for this useful summary. What if I want to hide a random set of work items in the course? I am reorganising and cutting down a course to about 1/2 of the items, but want to reinstate the items after the course. Is that possible? I am now on 4.1
