I remember seeing VALLEY OF GWANGI at the Plaza Theater back in the 1960's. My grandfather was a blacksmith and his shop was just three blocks south of the square off Main. I wasn't allowed to go into the sooty shop or to hang around outside with the old guys telling stories so Grandad would give me two quarters to go down to the picture show. Great memories.
This came down the main feed on YT today...Thanksgiving Day I watched again and enjoyed as it was the first time...I grew up in Tx...love the lay on the land it's people and especially the food ! The music you put to this made it outstanding ! Happy Holidays
So cool and wonderful to see those transitions from the old photos to new. I've seen that in pictures - comparing one next to the other - but it works so much better through video (you can blend half way for instance).
I remember when I used to go to the theater in on the squar, it's where my sisters dragged me to go see Titanic when it was there at the theaters, I was sad to see it close as part my childhood died. We moved to Weatherford back in 95 and that's where I grew up, I never thought I'd miss that place when I left five years ago but I do. But I'll be moving back in the next coming year.
Mathew Hastings such great memories for me too. If you haven’t been back lately, you will be shocked with the growth. It’s awesome that we do not have to go to Fort Worth to buy or do anything now days.
Felts TV I went back three months ago to visit my dad who still lives there on the brazos river, I still would go to Fort Worth for somethings but not much really, even with the changes, Weatherford still has the small town feel to it.
Actually there were two theaters on the square the larger of the two had a balcony it was called The Palace the other theater what called The Plaza both theaters plus the drive-in theater which was built in 48 the owner was Carlos Jones
The cook & Harrison & grable & last but never the least Alcorn family line that’s me Nathan Matthew Alcorn call Parker county Texas shown in this video or hometown.
