This looks like a MUCH better idea than trying to paint over the peeling. I have a great pair of heels, but the paint is peeling on one pair of them (it was probably faux leather). It has fabric underneath, so I will try this idea when I can get the chance. At least I will not have to throw away an otherwise good pair of shoes that I barely wore!
Just the info I needed because I had a flood in my apartment and a lot of my shoes some brand new got ruined by mold and cracked up and I was going to throw all of them in the garbage. But now that I know I can bring new life to them this will be another project for me. And I thank you kindly because I was heartbroken. I am a shoe fanatic. God bless you and your ideas. Adrienne L.
So sorry to hear about your flood problem 😔 but so happy to hear that this video helped you and that you can now rescue your beloved shoes! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
Unfortunately these are low quality artificial leathers that are sensitive to temperature changes and humidity. It causes the gum behind the leather layer to loosen and start peeling off.

Definitely more effective than painting over the peeling! Hope you got a chance to try it :)

Genius idea!!! So glad TH-cam recommended your video.
Oh that was such a good job. I had peeling shoes before and never knew I could do this.
Did this and it worked. Awesome idea
So glad it worked for you!
Does the fabric paint lasts?
If you scrub off the peeling layer properly and use a good quality paint yes it will definitely last!
What kind of paint did you use?
Slightly diluted fabric paint.
GREAT JOB, I WISH I COULD HAVE HEARD, THE VIDEO. IT HAD NO SOUND.
Sorry there is no sound... But hopefully the text descriptions are sufficient 🙂
Bummer! I just threw away a perfectly good pair, didn't think what I could possibly do with it. Good news-I have another peeling pair ;)
Same here. Threw many sandals..
Is that fabric paint water resistant??
Yes it is. Fabric paint is usually water resistant.
Thankyou dear very useful video 😊
What sort of paint is this
Fabric paint very slightly diluted with water.
You could have added audio for the video.
wonder why so many shoes and purses are peeling the shoes aren't cheap

What u painted after wards?

Useful🤔 thanks for the idea.👍
Hope you try it out!
Thank you so much!!
How about a suede shoe please
Real suede shouldn't peel. But if it's synthetic and has a fabric layer underneath you might be able to use the same trick.
I need the decor of these shoes
I'm sorry, I don't have these shoes anymore to do the decor part 😔
👌👍

How long did it take from start to wearable shoe?
Just a few hours. It's a pretty quick project.
