TFS. I am just learning to make boxes on the Ultimate and your tutorial was so informative and I can follow you and make a box. Thanks again. Gorgeous boxes.
That is a beautiful colour card. I don't own one of these yet. I calculate it all myself. (no complaints yet). Thinking maybe it would be worth buying the companion kit.
Hey look great and easy to make but you didn’t explain or show how to make the kid of the 2nd box and how it differed in size from the base you made in the video. You mentioned the right hand side and it all being pre-measured for us. So does that mean the right and left are millimetres different in size? Do you follow the same markings for the size of box you want, eg 4 lines in to score on left side and then same on right to make a pair?
She said you start with two pieces of the same size of paper (any size you want). Choose the height of your box (she chose the fourth). Use the "box lid" side for the lid and the "box base" side for the base. She already did the lid. She didn't have to measure the difference because the Ultimate Crafter's Companion already including a slight difference from the lid and base so you just have to make sure you score the lid on the lid side and base on the base side and you have to pieces that'll fit together
I know the question is a year old so you've probably worked it out by now but another newbie may find this useful! To make it easier: 1) draw out on scrap paper a rough square - label it 3" (it doesn't need to really measure 3"); 2) draw around it a bigger box - in the gap between the 2 boxes write 3" on each side (which is your 3" depth); 3) add the figures together from one side of the larger box to the other (3+3+3); 4) you will therefore need 2 pieces of card measuring 9". Use this method for any size box. If the box is not square you will need to measure from one side to the other, and then the other 2 opposite sides eg for a 6"x4" box with a 2" depth: 2 pieces of card for your box measuring 10"x8" (2"+6"+2"=10" x 2"+4"+2"=8"). Simples! Keep practising!
Hi how can i get the book to tell you how to make card and boxes i bought my crafter's campaign second hand but didn't get instructions with it please and thank you
Mam, How much is the scoring board you are using? Are ther different sizes of scoring board for a bigger boxes? Thank you, Rosalia (from the Philippines)
No need for different size boards as the board only calculates the DEPTH of the box. You could make one a foot wide if you wanted - just use card big enough for the dimension (1foot in this example) PLUS the DEPTH of the box all around; so for the 12" box with a depth of, say, 1" you will need card measuring 14" square - 12"+1"+1" =14": box size + depth size on one side + depth size on the other side. Imagine the box flat and measure from one side to the other - it might be easier for you to work out. Ok?
Just wanted a quick heads up on how to use the box board as I've seen others so wanted to compare. Now crystal clear thanks Liann!
I just ordered score board I can’t wait to use it 👍
