On your return to UK and northern European waters I really hope you both continue to make your particular brand of videos. While there's quite a few blogs from those waters, there's few if any of decent quality that show the sort of cruising that's done by ordinary couples; perhaps a 'gap in the market'? We love the varied coastlines of the UK and Ireland in particular where the geography and even culture can change in just a few miles. The sort of commentaries you provide should prove both interesting and entertaining, and I reckon many people like to see places they've been themselves on TV as well as places that they might visit in the future.

Hi Iain, thanks for the comment and support and yes we have every intention of continuing to make videos as we go and are excited for some stunning cruising grounds closer to home but also looking forward to the coming season getting back albeit there will be some challenges like getting through the orca zone again which won’t be so much fun. But we’ll certainly still be making videos and I’m glad you think we have a little niche in the market as I’m hoping to grow the channel to be a self supporting hobby one day. Thanks for your feedback and support 😊⛵️

While you're understandably very frustrated by the 'Schengen shuffle, I appreciate very much the absence of futile, over-emotional rants against Brexit that have so tainted other channels. I voted to remain too but 'that boat has sailed' and we, like you, are just making the best we can of it all. Perhaps a more useful target for those that really must make their anger known might be through the RYA or other bodies, to lobby the EU for extended 'cruising visas' or suchlike. Schengen is essentially a political creation to reinforce the ideology encapsulated in the sign outside the European Commission building which reads: "Europe - Your Country". While it benefits EU citizens in regards to free movement, it deliberately yet artificially creates a common border with a single allowance for visitors. I don't think that the very small population of cruisers was considered at all at its conception and the EC - just might - be willing to consider a variance not just for UK crews but also those from anywhere else. I'm sure marina operators across the EU would support it!
While this may be wishful thinking it strikes me as being a a better use of time than repeated, pointless and sometimes nasty attacks on those who voted differently than us; one person known to you even wrote that 'no-one who voted for Brexit should call himself a sailor'. I'd love to see him say that to the faces of many of my acquaintances each with more than 50+ years experience! It seems arrogant to berate others simply because their democratic choice harmed our hugely privileged lifestyles.
I'm aware you're returning for other reasons too though and wish you both a safe yet fun passage home. Will listen out for the sound of the pipes when anchored.....

I agree with you Iain. I’m so tired of any mention of schengen bringing on a brexit rant. I have friends and family in both camps so take offence at either side belittling the other. Schengen is way bigger than brexit. Brexit just made it a thing for us Brits and highlighted the difficulties other nationalities have faced for a long time. I agree that lobbying the U.K. govt to rejoin the EU is pretty futile and I’d far rather see Schengen introduce some more flexible visa options for long term travellers of all types and nationalities. There’s no reason for the EU to give special treatment to Brits and I don’t expect them to. But what brexit has done is open my eyes to how difficult the schengen arrangement does make it for any non schengen nationals to spend any meaningful time in the zone especially as it grows. There are rumblings of changes coming from individual countries that could be helpful but I’m not holding my breath or counting on it. We may return to the Med one day but in the near future it’s back up north! Cheers ⛵️
