How can DC say Pantoja won the third round? Brandon cut his face wide open and damage counts above all. No matter how far wrestling gets bumped down the scoring criteria, DC will see a fighter take someone down and immediately think they won the round because of it.
Same thing I thought. I scored it for Brandon then and even moreso now. For all the criticism people have of takedowns with no damage or advancement of position... Brandon did much more in that round
As much as People complain about Aljamain, Pantoja won off control time, Moreno was whooping his ass on the Feet, im surprised the ref didn't stand them up a couple times
Pantoja is a much better finisher than Aljamain
Because pantoja was actually going for submissions and staying active on the ground, not just holding him down for control time like Aljo does
I had Moreno winning 2,3 and was winning 5 until pantoja took his back. Idk how they thought pantoja won the 3 that's the round Moreno had the most damage vs a couple pantoja take downs

I had Brandon winning round 2 and 3 based on damage, which is the primary criteria for judging.
Pantoja obviously won just by back control, hugging and not advancing position. Wack performance from him. But he took a good beating, good for him.
Anytime Pantoja was not hugging, he was getting his ass beat, whether that was boxing or GnP.... He even got reversed multiple times.
I would have given it to Brandon just on sheer damage in rds 2, 3, and 4. Yes, round 4 Pantoja had back control for like 3mins but he didn't do anything with it. No damage, no submission, no advancing position. If you're going to defend that for Pantoja, you better be defend that for Aljo as well (yes different weight class, but he's heavily critiqued for his heavy grappling). I digress. -- The only damage Brandon took, was the very first left hook in Rd 1 and the elbow on the ground, that's where all the blood came from, just that one elbow. Other than that, Pantoja aint shit tbh

Two absolute warriors! Incredible fight from begining to end. I think i would have given it to moreno for more strikes thrown and landed but pantoja was nailing those takedowns, too close for me to call, honestly there are no losers in a fight like that. I am now a fan of both of these fighters.

The only person who can beat Pantoja is a wrestler, a wrestler with a sambo background, meaning they can employ ground & pound, which means Mokaev has zero chance against the gritty champs. He's as tough as Charlie Olives & as dangerous with his BJJ. Erceg is a tough match up but I think he'll try avoid the grapplin scrambles and point fighting. I ought to add Pantoja also has one of the best coaches in the game and he always wins the tactical matchup, even if he veers away from the plan.
Definitely one of the Top 10 fights ever, respect guys!

Brandon Marino once he’s hurt he becomes on strong he’s been caught he’s been banged up. I don’t like to see him getting hit that much or that severe in any fight but he’s got the heart of lion and the courage of a bear.
