  • If your Dell computer is giving you a No Boot Device, Boot Device Not Found, Inaccessible Boot Device or other boot up issue, follow this for help troubleshooting. If the HDD turns out to be bad, it would need to be replaced. You can see HDD and SSD ideas in the Computer Component list here: www.amazon.com/shop/pcmonkey. After installing a new drive, you would need to install an operating system to it. You can see those links below. Check out the FAQ's and Related Video Links below !!

    FAQ's:
Q: What are the buttons you press?
    A: F2 - BIOS, F12 - Diagnostic Options
Q: What if you cant change between Legacy and UEFI?
A: If you cant find those options or cant change between them, move on and continue with the rest of the video. What was the result of the Dell diagnostic scan? Can you find any Repair or Recovery options in BIOS?
Q: Changing the settings in BIOS didn't help and the scan passed everything :(
A: If changing the settings in BIOS did not help and the diagnostic scan showed the hard drive to be healthy, you can try the Repair or Recovery options in BIOS or undoing the last update if applicable. If that does not help, your last resort would be to install a new operating system.

Q: The diagnostic scan cannot see my HDD or says its 'Not Installed'?
    A: If the diagnostic scan cannot see your HDD, its most likely bad or just loose. Try 'reseating' it as seen here. Run the scan again. If its still not seen, I would then replace it and install Windows to the new one as seen here;

Q: I cant run the diagnostic scan. It wont complete or I cant access it.
A: If you cannot run the scan, we don't know for sure if the HDD is healthy or not. We will have to continue troubleshooting assuming it is for now. If its healthy, and if the issue is operating system related, I would then reinstall it.

Q: The diagnostic scan said that the HDD was not installed :(
A: If the diagnostic test could not find the HDD, that means the HDD is either loose or bad. Try reseating it as seen here. If that does not help, replace it and install an operating system onto the new one.

What if you have cloned your HDD to an SSD but can't get the SSD to be the boot device? I have a Dell M4800 with this issue. The UEFI list has Windows Boot Manager at the top, but changing this does not solve the problem. I am wondering if the UEFI boot entry for the SSD needs to be modified or Windows Boot Manager needs to be configured?

The HDD diagnostic tests were conducted early on and no problems found

On my Dell Inspiron N4110 I installed a storage caddy where I wanted to boot from but even after adjusting the boot options it still only boots from the main internal drive.

I somehow messed up along the way and while in the settings I reset the settings to user custom settings and it buffered for a while before shutting off and disallowing me from booting up or doing anything, boot machine seems to just not exist at all anymore as every button just reboots, including every f1 key on the thing.

Sometime it is the bios corruption leaving no device detected in storage configuration while they are still visible in the boot option but once you attempt to launch it would come up as “ no bootable device found” disable ahci by switched to ide mode and device appears but “no bootable device found” is still occurred. Turn back to ahci mode and goes to boot option, select the uefi option of the boot media and it goes to installation option and device is in the option! This leaving me to believe it the bios and possible hardware failure that it literally skipped CSM and force everything have to run on Uefi . I end up swap the motherboard in the end because I can’t afford to lose my data with silly uefi boot.

I follow all of the instructions given in this video. Currently stated is "No bootable devices found." Legacy is not supported by the laptop only UEFI. I ran the diagnostic test, and it comes out fully without any errors. How can I resolve the "No bootable devices found" issue? It continues to appear whenever I turn on the laptop.

I've got one for you. I have a Dell 3420 Precision SFF. Booting from USB to Open Media Vault 6 (Linux NAS software). Using Legacy in the BIOS, it boots one time. If I re-boot or have power failure, it will not reboot again without going into the BIOS again, change a setting, and exiting. It will then boot. Until a re-boot or powerfailure.

Thanks for the informative video, I’m not sure if my next move should be reinstalling windows or checking the BIOS; under Connection, the HTTPs Boot Feature says “CA Certificate is not provisioned,” is this the error I should resolve or is this a normal error if the BIOS needs to be updated?
