- There's a new pico in town - and a new chip! SpiderMaf gets his hands on one of the new pi picos - drops on the firmare - has a look and does a simple speed comparison.
You can buy/back order a Pico 2 at:
thepihut.com/p...
IF they are sold out there check Pimoroni which may or may not be the same place!
Wave to my other SpiderChums and tell them I sent you at:

Your already a big TH-camr. Your dropping videos faster than me now🤣😂
Well the last two have had awful stats - so I went back to my roots.
That should be you're (the contraction of "you are") and not your (the possessive form). Back to school! 😁
An example:
You're obviously not too clear about the difference between your you're and your your. Clear? 🤣
Amazing how cheap this sort of kit has gotten. BTW, setting the counter to a much higher number would give you the opportunity to time the flashes to allow you to better gauge the speed difference. Just a thought.
Yeah. That's a nice idea. I just wanted to do something visual and familiar.. I'll leave the science to the benchmarking guys 👦 thanks for your comment.
... has become.
Nah, shortish makes for easy counting. Count how many flashes each does in 20 seconds, and you can work how their speed difference.
RISC-V is an open source CPU design, which we'll start to see more and more of. For programming in C++ or Python, it doesn't make a lot of difference which type of core we use because the performance of the ARM M33 cores is apparently quite similar to the RISC-V ones.
I want to pop that little reset button off of both boards and make them into robot ears. You dont mind right?
Be my guest
It might be easier to design a timer to compare the speed of the Pico and Pico 2.
Definitely.. like when I did a counter which stored the time on the internal flash to see how long a battery lasted powering a Pico.
Pre-order be damned. I've just taken delivery of 2 new Pico 2 from Pimoroni. 😉
Yay!
