One of finest interview in this channel.. Mr. Subramanian seems to be a man of integrity....my personal view is no matter the no of OTT platforms.. people will come to theaters.. that's what history tells us...however why can't the no of prints gets regularised and limit the no of screens so that the chances of certain good movies which can pick up after 3 or 4 days..Mr. Subramanian spoke about certain movies including Rajini sir's movie which picked up after 4 days...today the chances of that happening for a movie is very minimal...for me all the problems seems to have started when investors want to realise 100 days revenue in 3 days..

That so called muliplex people began to watch in ott at home and very much comfortable. Including myself. We will turn up to theatre only for movies which need theatre experience. Now ott is a boon for small budget movie makers

All the episode of this interview was interesting we agree with his point except snacks hike in Mall /theatres explanation is not acceptable because it cost more than ticket rate for a family. He should not compare with star hotels rate menu. All cannot visit star hotel but even a poor audience can watch a movie in a mall at least once.
U still don't understand or don't want to understand. If the distributor no longer manages the cost the only option is closing down theatres. Even if he mentioned in the other part there were 3000++ screens but now only 1000++ screens. He does what he can do to survive in the industry. You also already answer your question that you only go once for a movie in the mall. Businesses run 365 a year not only once for 1 person's sake. Grow up n grow your money to have better living and income. Inflation is for real so wake up.
As he clearly explained, there are theaters that do not have high quality seats & maintenance where snacks are less but people don’t go there. He needs to pay for the folks to run the good multiplexes, and that’s why he has to hike the price of snacks. He actually Snares the numbers including daily wages. He was very transparent. And that’s reality. When you go to 5 star hotel
You don’t pay for the dosa alone you pay the cost of management for the quality of ambience, etc etc

Watching movies in cinema is very fun and cool experience but if the price is high people wont come. I'm not saying your price is to high or low but all you have to do is to make people come back cinema's. i feel like online streaming service will win over Cinema's

Whether it’s computerised or not, it doesn’t matter. unless, tickets stopped being sold in a higher prices on a first day, these computerised accounting model is of no use. He is damn right. Govt tickets max limit is 190 & everything above goes as a black to producers.
Nearly all theatres are forced to be computerized for their own management purposes (pnline ticket sales etc). Without knowing fully, people are judgmental. What he is talking about transparency on collections & ticket pricing is 200% true & fact. Ball is on the producers hand.

I'm from Tiruppur he charged double ticket for master movie 1 person should buy 2 ticket Rs.380(190*2). But all other theatre's in tiruppur charged rs.110 only. Power irukku so he is charging more.

TN CMs anyone interested in giving concession to movie industry this habit has to change.
Concessions in what area, at what level…..is the important question. Film business in TN runs in crores, with lakhs of employment……but still is not considered as an industry or you can get loans that easily. It’s more worst than horse racing.

Ppl complaining about theatre costs- they will try to recover the cost because the screening costs are high. In an earlier interview with Ananda Suresh- he did say that in the past everyone involved in movie making made a profit to call a movie a hit- and that included the guy selling snacks and the costs were nominal. Now since the cost has increased disproportionally from Director to actor and obviously downstream costs will continue to increase & no one seems to be happy .

In usa 5$ Tuesday (ticket 5$ with one small popcorn) if you buy one big popcorn for $4 a family of 5 can eat and refill for free. All the snack price are same as outside. They also allow waters. Theater owners like you going to responsible for less crowd in theater

Problem is every sector in this field wants a lions share only for them.
Once distributors were making hell a lot of money, many times more than the producer. Theaters were making money by adding extra chairs and allowing people to stand and watch. But, producers were getting only 20 to 30 percent profit for their investment. So, actors and technicians were getting low salary, then.
Now the tables have changed. And these people are crying.
Who will agree that the chef should get low salary, restaurant should get only low profit, but food delivery partners eg. Zomato should get very high profit.
