Ah good I'm happy it gives this sudden effect! When you work on it hours and hours, there is no surprise at all anymore... So thank you for your fresh perspective!
Ahhh that was wonderful! I loved how you captured their personalities through small movements, like Caduceus’s facial expression journey from 0:26-0:29, Beau’s freak-out at 1:11, and Nott’s little hand wave of “Do your thing” at 1:10! It really brought them to life!! You put a tonnnn of work into this and it shows! I’d love to see more!
Caleb is my favorite character in the Mighty Nein by far, so the fact that you do him so much justice with how you draw him makes me incredibly happy. After months of binging, I finally got to this scene, somehow remembered this video, and went to rewatch it. Wow, easily my CR favorite animatic I have seen in months, so cool getting to see one of my favorite early campaign one moments animated so well. (especially great is Cad's reaction to Nott firing at 0:28) :)
PS and for anyone who wants to see where this is from, it happens at 1:13:38 of CR C2 E28 "Within the Nest"

Thanks for the timestamp! I'm including it in the description. :)
@@linootte Welcome :) thanks for making such a delightful animatic and sharing it with me/the rest of the CR community :D
I love critical role and I loved it that there such good voice actors cuz you can hear the pain in bea's voice. I love these guys
had a human rogue try that on my elf ranger back in the day, he thought it would be funny to fire a crossbow at my character that was a good 5 levels hire than him because his character hated elves, he rolled a nat 20 hit me for 12 i responded with shooting him in the head for 28, didnt even need to roll because his AC was so low, and that was how i got my skull mug and our group got a new gnome rogue.
Oh lord XD I never killed another PC in one of my campaign.... yet ;)
Oh man, our human bard got really drunk irl and started a fight with our cn warlock over an unidentified vial of liquid, called no magic or weapons and then immediately used brass knuckles.
Josh full-on beat him into the dust and nearly killed his character right then and there, and the rest of us were so annoyed with his crap from the night that we were gonna let him.
"When you forgot they met cad when half party was captured by Lorenzo. Like all these other people that they met along the way to help kill lorenzo just left and cad was like "so what are we doing now? I dont have a life, legoo"
I think of all Critical Role animations, this might be my #1 favorite. The characters are so expressive and accurate, the art style is brimming with personality and all the expressions and sounds match up 110%. 11/10, outstanding work.
This is so nice thank you!
Fuuuuuck, I love your art style, also the way Caleb just looks... so done, so tired, that was *chefs kiss* perfect
Long work days this weekend, I just made it through both the new home for Kiri and the kidnapping arc for the first time to pass the time (and yes, I have in fact cried for week over an hour over the course), and this is just perfect.
Ahhhh this is so good! Your LINES, your EXPRESSIONS, god!!
I was already in awe cause of the art but Deuces face @ 0:29 and 0:41 KILLED me
edit : just looked at your description,, this is your first attempt???? Its so so good dude!!!
Thanks! Not my first attempt at an animatic though, just a Critical role one. :)
@@linootte I see, anyway really good! You've inspired me!
God, that arrow hitting the stone was so loud, it scared the shit out of my the first time. And actually keeps doing it every time. It's just really loud and sudden. I love this animatic so much though, the motion is so solid and the expressions are perfect!
Ah good I'm happy it gives this sudden effect! When you work on it hours and hours, there is no surprise at all anymore... So thank you for your fresh perspective!
It was timed perfectly with Cad's face. Beau's wtf expression is also great.
Absolutely fantastic. I love every single frame of Caduceus here.
Caleb is my favorite character in the Mighty Nein by far, so the fact that you do him so much justice with how you draw him makes me incredibly happy. I mean, SERIOUSLY, I absolutely adore the way you draw him! I also love the way you draw Frumpkin! Like, you make the description and stuff of him being attractive but just tattered and scruffy come to life! It's so amazing ;-;
So much detail. Its like candy for the eyes.
this art style was amazing. you also did great on making the character's personality shine through
People have been mentioning the line art, the expressions and the animation to be super good (which I totally agree on).
However, I can't see anyone have mentioned those beautiful backgrounds! It fits so well how Mathew described it and still have a unique look which I simply adore!
Many hats off to you Linotte.
I’ve never seen critical role, but i was drawn by the pretty art in the thumbnail and I was not let down! This looks beautiful! The environment and expressions are fantastic
I love literally everything about this, all the expressions and the details and just... it's a rough morning but I think this makes waking up worth it tbh
Oh I'm so happy to hear that! Now I'll post animatics every morning then!
...Hum, yes, that's a perfectly reasonable workload, why?
Keep your head up my friend!
Linotte just a lot going on. Moving house, cant do commissions when I’m moving house, lots of stress n stuff x-x
I'm surprised Beau didn't immediately burn a Ki point and throw the bolt back at Nott.
...
Also, Nott seems to shoot Beau a lot.
Hey gotta shoot your shot
I think this was before she had the ability to throw back.
@@samreid6010 Nah, if you can catch it, you can throw it back using ki point :) It's part of the ability.
This series of events is too damn funny and your portrayal of it is so animated and lively! I love Beau's poses and her facial expressions. You really nailed the characters!
oh my goodness ur comedic pacing and gestures are absolutely to die for!! I love the shapes you give each of the chs it adds so much Characterness to them and I love ur line qualities!! Absolutely delightful will be watching again and again
In the "what the hell Nott!?!" frame is that Caleb in the animation with Jesters voice? Love the animation, totally forgot about this moment!
Nope, it's Keg! :D
There is so many great moments in CR, so much to be animated honestly. XD
They met Cad before they got Jester, Fjord and Yasha back
I really thought it was Beau's voice though, until I watched that episode again (Also I hate myself for rewatching those episodes ;v;)
Kaffeine Fiendz why are you such an emotional masochist... :(
Im way behind and just started watching season 2, knotts "case closed" when they finally rescued them broke me, very hard to focus on typing when youre also emotionally breaking NGL
The style and expressions and understanding of form are amazing. Instant like and sub, so hoping you decide to do more! Great work! I feel like this is something I could show someone not into CR just to show them how silly and endearing the characters are, because it captures it so perfectly!
Aw that's a great compliment thank you!
I certainly hope to do more but not soon... This animatic took me easily one and a half month of work! So Idk when I could do another.
This was incredible!! I love your style, great expressions and poses. Awesome awesome work
I love finding animations of scenes from campaign 1 and 2 and seeing all varieties of style and animations that critters use when making these awesome videos, and this is definitely one of my top 3 now! Definitely dropping a sub!
This Animatic is godlike.
I love the framing and blocking of the whole damn thing.
another iteration of Caduceus that makes me fall even more in love with him
Pink cow man is the best!
This was so great!! The amount of care you put into each frame phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!! 10000/10
I come back to this animatic at least once a month because it so good! Definitely my favorite Critical Role animatic ever, I love the style so much!!
Oh this is so good.
I wish their animated series would be done in this style.
This is so beautiful and high quality. Favorite animation ever
This is so cute! You're so talented. I loved the way Nott says "You're Welcome" at the very end.
Oh my god! The line work and expressions in this are amazing!!
THIS IS CRAZY GOOD OMG GOOD JOB i totally forgot how hilarious that moment was and you made it 10x funnier zodbskbd
i've seen this animation so many times now just taking mental notes at all those smooth movements good job mate hope i get this good one day!!!
Watched it 5 times, here's what I have to say about it, "I've watched it 5 times? Can I go for another 50?"
Great animation right here!
*chefs kiss* muwa , it's perfect, yes, mhm, thank you for sharing xD your art style is by far the best thing I've ever seen from the critical role community in my opinion
your style is gorgeous
Im constantly blown away by the artistic ability of this community
damnnn really love the drawing style there.... the angular lines on caduceus !!! so good (and beau's faces..... priceless)
I had never watched critical role before and this was the first animatic that made me want to. I caught up to C2 and watched the last 41 episodes live. I cannot wait for C3.
I love how Firbolgs have slowly become goat people instead of the giant-kin they were intended to be in 5e. All my firbolgs have had goat features and not actual Giant fewtures. I love the way you animated Clay's healing and I love everyone's design. Theyr very animated and your story boarding is gorgeous. I hope you can get the credit and fame you deserve!
I am in love with how expressive every character was
Never get tired of watching this clip 😊
I think this is one of the best i've seen!
My immersion in Critical Role is probably the strongest out of every form of media I consume. Their characters are like whole other people at this point.
This is perfection! Already ranks amongst the best cr animatics out there 😍
I found this video in my youtube recommendations and watched it a while ago, WAY before I started watching Critical Role. After months of binging, I finally got to this scene, somehow remembered this video, and went to rewatch it. It's really interesting watching this video again and remembering a time when I couldn't recognize the cast of CR by voice
That moment when Nott took the first shot the crossbow moved so fast and hard I jumped. Very excellent work.
I love the drawing style, and the animation is clear and nicely paced out. This was a pleasure to watch. Thanks for making this and sharing it.
This is amazing and well done. I come back to watch this clip when I need to smile
The expressions. The little quirks and details. The lovely and elaborate background. Everything about this is amazing. This scene is now twice as funny as it originally was and I love it.
Your art style is so distinct and satisfying I love it
Okay wow this is just beautifully layed out, the expressions clearly take the cake though.
I notice new lil details every time I go back to watch this, it's so fucking good y'all
i don't think I ever said it but THIS! THIS VERY ANIMATION is what made me watch Critical Role almost three years ago during my mental all time low. And man. It cheered me up so so much. Their story means the world to me. It made me go out there and look for my own dnd group. And three years later I'm dming for my group, reconnected with a cousin of mine ( who's a big CR fan as well) and currently watch campaign three with her every week.
And it all comes down to your wonderful animation. That sparked my curiosity what's up with these chaos gremlins and I cannot thank you enough. You, unknowingly changed my life for the better, so thank you. Truly :')
BRUH IM CRYING...Im so happy... thank you so much and I hope you have fun with your ttrpg group!
i always come back to watch this because your art is fucking phenomenal! One thing that i absolutely love is how every character has there own disposition and how just their stance is tweaked to show their personality.
I LOVE THE STYLE OF THIS it’s how I imagine it in my head when I listen!
i appreciate how the mighty nein always gets good rolls when they're shooting another member of their group
Their Cain instinct is strong!
