Initially I wanted to make something about the Lapland group but couldn't find a good enough source that could be turned into a video, so I did a more general video about the Winter War. Also, follow the channel on pinterest as well if you're into photos and maps. I've had comments on other videos asking to show the full map in the picture which unfortunately is not possible, but on pinterest you can find just that and even download if you like.

Good video but northern Finland's map is totally crap! Over the Finland's top is Norway's territory. Bad preparations.

Very nice brief overview of the Winter War. Often channels with English as the language, even larger ones, have at least a few major flaws in their videos and it almost feels like they rely mostly on wiki or something . The only clearly visible flaw here was the map at 4:10, which shows part of Norway as part of Finland. Otherwise a good video, wishing you a happy new year from Finland!

omg! I hate it when I make mistakes. Honestly. I drew that map ages ago. Can't remember what reference I used. Maybe it's still inside the projects files.

      No mention of Ribbentrop-Molotov pact.

@@ww2-epicbattles The video was very good, especially the ending of the war which was concluded way better than in most Winter War videos. They are usually entertaining but tend to focus almost solely on Soviet casualties and rush the ending saying Finland just lost, or something. Imo getting the ending right is very important because it laid the fundamentals of the Continuation War.

That Russian general who predicted 12 day campaign is the type of individual who’s so far removed from modern battlefields his confidence is misplaced spectrums away from competent.

Fantastic video, as always. Appreciate that you kept the strategic context and implications in the foreground - too much Winter War coverage gets into (at least in my experience) war porn, treating casualty figures like K:D in a game

By the way, do we have any Hell let loose players here? We could potentially squad up for some world war 2 action.

I like to play the game myself. I've had it since 2019 so I've had the pleasure to see it become what it is now. It's great when your squad and HQ actually communicate

Very well made video. Enjoy on how you explain the prelude to the war, the duration of the war, and the aftermath of the war. As well of the strategies of both sides and how it was deploy on the battlefield. Overall good video. To those who perished on the battlegrounds of the winter war May the Rest In Peace in the frozen woodlands of the Finland. Godspeed. 🇫🇮 🇷🇺

There is an excellent film of the Winter War made in 1989 (in Finnish with English sub-titles). See it if you get the chance.

This is the war where you should support Finland, they lost like 10 000 men and Russia like 60 000

For foreigners who might not be knowing each and every detail of the Winter War, the Mannerheim Line, albeit fortified at some parts, wasn´t really an all-around well-made strong fortification, as we didn´t have the time to finish it in time. Parts of it were just natural obstacles used as defensive positions, on many places it was quite shallow dug-outs and so on. I wouldn´t call it a loss for Finns, I´d say it was more of a draw... :)

It should be worth noting that Soviet corps and armies are actually smaller than typical.

Is not true! The Soviet Union had strengthened divisions. See the number of weapons already in use!
