Oban Star-Racers' 15th Anniversary Kickstarter campaign started Tuesday February 1st 2022 and was a great success. Thank you to all our wonderful backers for their support! I backed it, Oban was one of those shows that I remember back in the early days of Jetix along with W.I.T.C.H. and Power Rangers. Always felt the series had a different feel to it and happy this is being done since it could lead to a sequel. Only wish there was more stuff in the Rewards, mainly relating to Spirit.

How am i only now finding out about this? This show was a huge part of my childhood. Just hearing the OST in this video, and the Ending theme, makes me really emotional. I hope that all the fans from back then can find out about this. I really hope there's a big future ahead for Oban. Not just cause it would make us fans happy, but because you, and the crew deserve it for creating something beautiful

I wonder if the show could end up on one of the anime streaming services like Crunchyroll or something after this campaign is over, that way I have a way to recommend this show to my friends who won't be able to come watch on my Blu-ray copy.
That would probably be nice if a sequel ever came out too so that all the people who didn't get to watch during it's original run will have the opportunity before part 2

I loved this video. It was really moving; it's clear you and the team put a lot of love and care into Oban's development. It deserves to have its chance to shine and reach new people! It's been so exciting to see the Kickstarter is doing as well as it is- hopefully those numbers keep soaring and we can keep seeing new things from Oban! Good luck and congrats!

Woah, I didn't even know this was a thing. Wish I knew about this at the time. I remember seeing this show during my teenage years and was completely mesmerised by how cool the animation looked. It still holds up which is a true testament of how much the industry cared at the time about crafting perfection.
I don't know what it is about France, but when the artists are given the free rein to be as creative as possible they often make things that are unique and can never be realised anywhere elsewhere. But for some reason they're somewhat underappreciated; from shows like this to video games like Beyond Good & Evil. I'll definitely purchase a copy of this in the near future if they're still being sold by then. Hopefully you and your team were able to find some success in this campaign.

I was just thinking about if we had a blu ray release!! your show was so loved in the Middle East I hope if things went well and you make new projects that you will stay true to what made the show so memorable and loved in those new projects thank you guys it would be nice if you add the Arabic dub or at least subs but I will be supporting and buying the blu ray regardless
thanks a lot. I undersand your concern and we're working on acquiring the arabic dub but there are still uncertainties regarding who actually contrils the rights, and it will be probably too late to sort that out in time for that release.

Oban Star Racers always felt like a fever dream, i was not old enough to have the idea that there was more episodes.
Watched it again, in full for the first time and was suprised how engaging and fun it was.

Having a spin-off series would already be awesome (can't ask for necessarily for a sequel since Oban Race happens once every 10K years and humans most likely will change a bit by then lol), but what I truly want ever since OSR was airing was a videogame version! Counting the three planets before Oban would already include, at least 288 racers (96 per planet), but clearly thinking logically, I believe 36 (1/8 of the total) would already be enough as each will have their own unique methods of flying and fighting. Same with racing tracks, doing something like in Star Wars Podracers, the environments and tracks are limited, but just block a couple of passages to change a little.
well so do I and we're currently exploring that possibility with our friends of Sky Isle Studios. They've already done a great free game for the "Playstation Dreams" software. Savin

I recently came across Oban Star Racers thanks to some friends of mine. At first I thought I wouldn’t like it but after watching it I can honestly say it was amazing! I enjoyed seeing the adventures of Molly/Eva and seeing all the wonderful characters through out the show.
Cant wait to display the collectors blu ray with my dvd sets and art book :D
first saw it as a kid and I still love Oban star racers. I would do anything to get those 5 discs but I don't have a credit card or any other way to order them. It would be a dream for me to get my hands on oban star racers😢

I watched it on the Hungarian Jetix in my childhood. The opening music is out of this world.

I remember the first time I saw this show was on disney XD sitting in my uncles movie room late at night laying on the sofa before bed when I was a small kid, I never seen anything quiet like it and its really one of those things that just hits all sorts of emotions of endearment thinking back, that even now Im 23 and I still keep going back to it. I really hope to see more of the extreme racing beautiful sifi worlds, not to mention the ost songs slap
I remember waking up when I was 6 years old and stumbling onto this show on Jetix, it was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen, it was weird but so interesting, I never got to watch it all but ever since then I always remembered the show and how amazing it was, and always loved watching it on the weekends. Just today I was thinking about it, I never think about many shows you never fully watched much less this old, and only to see this gem is getting a blu ray release. I know I’m a little late to the party but I’m definitely donating 100 dollars in support of something that was this ahead of the curve in animation and storytelling. Thank you so much for creating a show this amazing, you kept millions of kids entertained and I’m happy to give a little back In support, you guys are amazing, thanks for the fun times!!

man when i was little oban was pretty much the only reason i watched jetix ( well more like the number one reason ) it had everything the other shows lacked
an actually engaging story
good worldbuilding
music that made you feel hyped
and it was generaly so different and weird but in all the good ways
its honestly should be more apreciated and known
and even tho its been so long i still hope to see a sequel or spinoff

That is amazing, but I have one question regarding the digital ost, what format will it be? I hope it'll be Flac or Wav because mp3 compresses the audio and it'd be a waste to enjoy Oban's great soundtrack in subpar quality compared to what Flac can offer.

I never was this exited about a series as I am about Oban Star Racers😁 after all these years some great news! As a new anime fan when I was a kid, I wanted an anime on dvd. So I went to the nearest media store in Switzerland and there I discovered Oban Star Racers. My sister and I fell in love with it. Now we are both extremely exited about the blue ray and the hope that we’ll get to see more! I always wondered if Molly/Eva got to see Aikka’s planet since he invited her😂 I’m definitely going to get “hero of Oban” 😁👍🏻 I also hope the donation page will stay up. if you mean the UK remixed version of Chance to SHine I don't think we were given access to that track. But you'll have in the bluray textless versions of the opening and closing in 45/60/90 seconds versions of the original song plus the full 5' version of the song in the digital OST

God it's been a very long time since I've seen this show I'm 23 now I remember when it came out I'm very glad that I found out about this this is definitely something I would like to have for my DVD collection but I don't know if you're going to see this and I feel like I should say it if this does become successful to get another sequel I would like to hope that you and your team be very careful who you get to invest in it and I'm not going to tell you what to do but just be very careful not to let somebody ruin your vision and what made the show great in the first place simply because they think they know better I hope the best for you and your team and looking forward to seeing this projects successful conclusion

When yenth anniversary edition generated a lot of buzz online, i found and saved a lot of storyboard drawings. A stranger saw them on my page and asked if i had the acces to a version of 'the making of Oban Star Racers" without english subtitles, because he really wanted to make subtitles for it in a different language. Is it possible to also include the official release of that documentary, with or without the subtitles, in the bluray?
Yes, it was one of the early strech goals. And it's been reached. So the making of will be included, with English subtitles - and in a remastered and remixed version!

Not right now, unless you make a late pledge on pledgebox oban-star-racers-15th-anniversay-bluray.pledgebox.com/preorder and get it as a bonus with the bluray.
That said we may put it on a streaming service at a later date. It's also possible we release a double vynil LP edition in the near future.

I've never even heard of this series before this Kickstarter, but I'm interested. Just curious, were the racing vehicle inspired by Star Wars Episode 1?
Since you're not familiar with Oban I can assure you watching the series for 5' will show you there is absolutely no relation between the tone style and content of Oban and Star-Wars, especially not from Phantom Menace. If Oban has influences, they come from the East, not form the West :)
And it really needs reminding, development on Oban started in 1996/1997 with a first early trailer realeased in 1998.
Hoping in season 2 we find out how did eva wei's mom's staracer explode. Because I presume in future, star ship, even staracers have some thing that tells you that your ride isn't working right and active it's landing made and stop.

@@171QA, I seen all the episodes skipped some of scenes like the theme song and only up to the racing parts. And do ye recall "silent as spitit", Spitit witness Maya wei's staracer's engine smoking very horribly. Me point is: shouldn't the system or whatever they call it, active it's landing gears and land the staracer.

Dear MM. I feel i need to corect your statement. We first hinted about the bluray four years ago. But then decided that having only the english and french dubs wasn't good enough. If you look at the explanations in the kickstarter page, you'll see we invested a tremendous amount of time and money to restore the original HD masters, then to look for, acquire, restore, resynchonize all the different intenrational dubs that we could salvage from years of neglect from the series past distributor, which Covid made all the more difficult. Having salvaged 11 different dubs, and perfectly restored the original HD master, we then felt ready to go forward finally with the release. Please do note we didn't ask for fan money to do all that but waited until we were completely sure we could offer a solid and risk free release. This was a big gamble for a very small strucutre like ours. Lastly, once we've recouped our investement, we hope to invest, thanks to that kickstater release, in new Oban projects. So please do not say we are abusing any one here. We're a small team, putting all our efforts into a project we feel very close too, and I believe, some of you as well. Sorry if I sound like I'm overreacting a bit,' which I certainly am but can't help doing :) But reading that "we want more money" is as far as possible from our way of thinking and working as can be!
