Here's one that's interesting: a challenge run with only birds. Basically, any Pokemon that's based on a bird is usable. I'm really glad Mah Dry Bread had so much fun with this one. This is a decent balance: keeping things limited and challenging, but still allows for a lot of variety and strategy. Keeps things from being boring. And yeah, too bad about the Fire Stone, but Growlithe still had a decent run. Though don't be in too much of a hurry to do another one. There aren't enough exclusives to make a full team anymore in Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond/Pearl, or Black/White. Those ones will probably be rough going. Anyway, looking forward to Mah Dry Bread joining Team Sky soon!

Ruby might actually end up being a pretty rough run. Ruby's exclusives are: Seedot (to Lotad), Mawile (to Sableye), Zangoose (to Seviper), and Solrock (to Lunatone). Four 'mons, not especially great (though Shiftry and Zangoose are good), and not a whole lot of options for dealing with Drake or Steven... MDB's got his work cut out for him there. ... Oh, and Groudon, but I don't think MDB would be satisfied with the Wallace and E4 fights being "Groudon spanked them like kids caught stealing cookies", so we can count it out here.
To be fair, Gligar has egg moves, even if you don't use them in these runs. That sometimes helps for certain early Gen Pokemon getting better learnsets.

YES!!!!! I really love this games runs this game was one of my favorites when i was a kid this one and platinum just were my childhood so i get hype everytime you do runs in either game!!!
I have a lot of run ideas. 1- do the inverse or opposite of your poison moves only run. Poison is your favorite type. Instead, use Pokemon and moves of your LEAST favorite type! 2- do a Zangoose and Seviper run. The pokedex says they are Mortal Enemies, coded in their DNA. It would be funny/cool to see bith of them out in a double battle but working together. 3- do a run with the HEAVIEST OR LIGHTEST TEAM POSSIBLE! That sounds fun! 4- Abra in Gen 2. It would be an easy run in case you can't work much that week because it can learn the 3 elemental punches. 5- do a Champions Team but 1st form. Cynthia would be Spiritomb, Feebas, Gible, Togepi, Riolu, and Budew. 6- Feebas run? A newer version of your Magikarp run.
Gligar in this challenge is like an anime protagonist. This scrappy little scorpion, only allowed onto the team out of sheer necessity, takes down three of the biggest enemies in the game to prove itself worthy of its master's love.

I'd love to see more version exclusive runs. They tend to give you a good, diverse and quirky team to use and they can work in all generations. As much as Gen 2 is my favourite I think I'd like to see Ruby first to give a better range of Pokemon, though.
Gold/silver runs are always fun, though I'm still going to suggest doing one with a single Murkrow
1:28 Ah yes, quilava. The best starter in GSC 😂😂 always fun/funny to find minor little mishaps like this in videos. Anyways, great video as always, keep up the great work MDB! ❤
Fun fact: the elemental punches are special in Gen 2. Unfortunately, teddiursa/ursaring had to use its lower special attack while using those moves.
That Gligar had some real underdog energy going
....and I have a team with a gligar on it. I never laughed so hard. I love gligar but that was funny.
I like the version exclusive runs. Any run with a team is fun to see how you handle different fights and new strategies.
I love your vids!
I know change is hard and I know it requires time and preparation.
You have this series of version exclusives.
I suggest that after finishing it, you take the step you've been avoiding and start playing the modern games.
It won't be an easy change, and I know it can be scary, but it could really be fun and it will get you a lot of viewers.
It's time.
YES!!!!! I really love this games runs this game was one of my favorites when i was a kid this one and platinum just were my childhood so i get hype everytime you do runs in either game!!!
I would love to see you do the other side of these version exclusive runs. Come back and play Silver with its version exclusives.
Ursaring would absolutely be doing more damage with Return as opposed to special moves
I recently watched all of your rimworld playthrough and absolutely loved it! I popped off when you got partnered!!
1:37 - Gliscor doesnt exist in this game 😛
My favourite Mah-Dry-Bread moments are "Man this pokemon sucks" and that pokemon goes "you dare question my power mortal?"
Gligar is one of my absolute favorite pokemon ever. Give the ground bat some respect
Also, still ready for a Gardevoir run in any gen
Gligar in this challenge is like an anime protagonist. This scrappy little scorpion, only allowed onto the team out of sheer necessity, takes down three of the biggest enemies in the game to prove itself worthy of its master's love.
Flash MVP of the run what the hell lol
I love these challenge runs, gotta be some of my favorite content. Been watching for awhile now, keep up the good work! Also Gligar for MVP!
I love these version exclusive runs I would love to see more!!
gligar is my favorite pokemon i legit cheered when gligar clutched the dragonite kill.
also fyi in gold silver and crystal ice fire and thunder punch are all special attacks i done an abra only silver taught it all 3 punches was a great time
To be honest if you're doing a silver run I'd prefer soul silver for the extra diversity
Ariados really pulled its weight this run
You could hack in a firestone just to take the chance out of it when you get to that point in the game
That's still all the way in Kanto though.
Ah, the youngster joey bit. Brings me back to Your sunkern only run. Hard to believe that was 4 years ago, huh?
