I do remember this episode as a favorite from way back then.

I just saw this episode last night and it was in my opinion, fabulous! Janeway was the best captain ever. I couldn't figure out how this was going to end and when Janeway welcomed the invaders to the bridge to blow them and Voyager up, I couldn't believe it. Amazing ending. I enjoyed your review of this episode it was indeed very moving.

What, 5 extras and a few CGs?
Huge stakes, little ante. Crafty and efficient use of resources, just like Voyager herself.
Episode is evidence for the greatness this series could wield.
(Like that beautiful tactical roll Harry Kim wielded as he slept that dirty pair of Vidiians. Cold.)

I also really liked how they carefully used the camera. It spends most of the time on the ship that ends up getting destroyed. I know for me this camera use led me to be uncertain which was "the real ship".

Yes, the direction in this episode is fantastic and less static than standard Star Trek episodes. The camera is really alive.

    Question.
Why didnt doomed Janeway evacuate all the crew besides her to the other Voyager?
Yes, it would be weird, but Janeway as the Captain should do whatever she can to save her crew if the ship is lost.

They actually answered that question. Janeway said that B’Elanna says that the atomic mass would be off balance on Voyager and destroy the ship or some techno babble like that. 😂

When both the Janeways are shown face to face, close-up from behind... the way they're looking at each other I'm expecting them to start kissing passionately.
It's not that I want to see it happen, but to me it just looks like... you know... "any second now".

The bonus scenes at the end... feel like something you edited but couldn't find a way to fit them into your story. My suggestion, tie them in somehow.

I try to keep the scripts for each of these tight and focused on thematic or character analysis; but there are other interesting scenes. And my philosophy is "more Star Trek is always good!" Are the bonus scenes lazy? I prefer to think of them as a final treat. ;)

@@CompletingTheShelf maybe just say, "and here's your final treat"
