Lots to like about this video. Sitting beside the rods shows respect for the fish, barbless hook, fish recovery, proper tackle for the job. Big up for this video.
Love the trent Collin, I fish further up on the bend but can't seem to get past the 8 1/2 mark . Want that double so much. Any chance I could still catch it at this time of the year oct - nov night fishing?
hi pall I live in nottingham got alot to Lern first year on river fishing been barbel fishing 20 times on trent and not had fish yet been on weir alot wich is hard fishing wear abouts is that on this video pall
Duane Topley find yourself a nice quite stop i would join one of the clubs on there get think colwick is o.k. It's only £27 a year and you have everthing in there from barbel carp sturgeon chub bream and roach plus perch and eel's. All manner of fish congregate in the warm water there mate.
In your experience do you think Fox alarms are sensitive enough for barbel fishing ? I need a pair for nights and I'm not sure to get the Fox MXr+ or Delkim TXi . Love your videos my friend.
i use micron mx (fox) but i also use a star light now on the top of the rod because you get a bang on the tip and nothing happens this means a barbel has grabbed your bait and is hooked but just sitting on the bottom so when i see this a strike and 99% of the time the fish is on. i don't think you need really sensitive bite alarms because normally your rod bends over the clutch starts going and your in. got a pike fishing vid going on soon hope you enjoy big col
I have always used a lead clip and I think it help's me if I need to put lead core on if it is really rocky on the bottom so I do not snap off. Some times you need it and some times you don't
nathan smith looks like the smeaton lakes stretch ,theres only 7 pegs but theres some nice barbel carp and chub to be had as well as a few nice suprises.

Can I ask please, why do you use a lead clip for a running rig?
I have always used a lead clip and I think it help's me if I need to put lead core on if it is really rocky on the bottom so I do not snap off. Some times you need it and some times you don't
Do you find that the lead gets caught in the rocks then? Even when using a running rig.
Yes it some times does I lose a lead but not the barbel and this has worked for me for 15 years I land 98% of my fish. Cheers Colin
Very good to know. Thanks for the replies. Cheers!
where on the trent is this?
around Newark bud.
