I bought these earbuds because my wife side of the family is Quebec French, and I don't speak any French except for a few words and phrases. But I figured these will he great for when I'm around my wife's family, I could listen in on the conversation and I don't need to continually poke my wife asking what everyone is saying.
Already bought these 2 months ago. Me and my wife had the same experience. It translate ok to Thai but the other way around doesn't work that good. I think it's because Thai is such a tonal language, very hard for the program hear the difference. I had the feeling that the longer sentences she spoke the better the translation got. Haven't tried them with any other language yet, but I think they might work better then.
I’m glad it wasn’t just me then using them wrong! I think it would be good for asking basic questions when someone is travelling somewhere new. What do you think Stefan?
@@theroamingcook Yes i think so too. Translating to Thai works fine i think. I havent tried them in a busy environment like you, but i guess you can make it work.
I would love to use the translating ear buds as my own personal spy gear lol. I've used google translate app on my phone and it works well also. Thanks again Gary. I'll definitely be taking a Bangkok food tour from what I've seen on your channel. Fingers crossed, I'll be there by the end of Feb. Stay safe! Eat on!
It absolutely will help tourists and perhaps we can cap the pictures of foods from your clips and show them to the restaurant. Yeah absolutely helpful, I hope the device is affordable price. Though, It’s short but fun clip.
Haha love this vdo so much ❤️ ! As we are thai we are not going to order “Tom Saab Ped” anymore . But this translation earbuds are super fun and useful 😊
Neat gadget, duchess! But the best thing is, you order in Thai so already learned the names of all the new dishes you introduce me to. They'll probably remember you and cursing you every time I have a bite and yell out "alloy MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK"
Ha haa, Interesting product but you have to convice some one to stick this to ear 😂. White farang comes with ear plug.... Maybe funny situation 😬😂. I use your description box menu👍
that's not bad. i don't blame it too much for difficulties with going thai-to-english. a lot of words in thai gets used in multiple ways and homonyms gets borked. plus, as someone else said, thai is hugely tonal and that's tough.
@@theroamingcook Interesting product but unless one really needs them it's hard to see how the price is justified for what amounts to a pair of ear buds and an app that leverages other companies translation technology. Further, and I'm no expert in this, I'm guessing these will only work as long as the company is in business and paying for commercial access to those translation services; a point I'd be happy to be corrected about if they want to comment on this thread.
I am not sure asking a stranger to stick an ear bud in their ear is going to go down too well. Have you tried google translate? Not sure how good it is with Thai. I tried it in Japan a few years ago and worked well

Why anybody would pay that price you can get translator apps/Google translate that is just as simple/easy and far more hygienic instead if asking everyone you deal with to stick an ear bud in! It's a no from me..

Next video. Gary picking up girls with Translator headphone 😂

I wonder how this compares to other freely available apps/software such as Google Translate?
It’s basically Google translate in headphones

you end up with a multilingual brain when you stick the left earplug in your right ear and the right earplug in your left ear
