Apirede Dance
Originally performed by palace performers/guards, its said that during its performance, one could only hear the sound and melody of it but the real dancers and drummers were never seen.
Apirede carries a great spirit of the Akwamu Amapong Kofi Gua and ancestors and is only performed only when the Omanhene has an important role to perform.. Its dance steps can be likened to that of the fontomfrom.
In some akan states apirede is only performed by seasoned and fearless women because of the power it carries.
