Sad story. I worked at radio city in Stanley street Liverpool. I can’t remember the date but he managed to walk past reception and walked into a live studio whilst a journo was reading the news and uttered some expletive before being hurriedly removed by security. Shame. Poor chap
At one time our Working Mens Club in Leigh Park Havant Hampshire put on shows and invited the 60's groups. The Beatles and Gerry were far too expensive but the Searchers put on a couple of shows that blew us away, Freddy and the Dreamers, and those groups of that era came to our club. Thanks boys, you will always be remembered.
Was unaware of his association with the Flower Pot Men which featured in this group Jon Lord and Nick Simper who became the bassist for the original Deep Purple.
Who remembers The Searchers on Johnny Carson Tonight show in the mid 60's? They did 2 songs-Chris got called over for a long interview then they did a THIRD SONG! Carson's son liked them and Johnny liked to play drums for fun. I recorded it on a long lost tiny japanese 3 inch reel tape recorder so i still remember they sang Ain't that just like me, Don't throw your love away and needles and pins. Or maybe it was Someday we're gonna love again trying to use the massive exposure to get a new hit?
I liked The Searchers well my brother liked them. Why do people get involved with the sort of lifestyle that isn't good when they get in the public eye? Another interesting one thank you . ❤❤❤
Aww that's nice Jayne and happy you enjoyed it 🤗💞 Yes the pressures of that lifestyle can bring out the worst in people sadly. Thank you for watching as always 💝
I always liked the Searchers, considered by some to be the greatest cover band of all time. It's good that he could find time to attend mass while not onstage. Everyone needs balance in their lives. He disliked Australia. I've noticed quite a few Brit musicians didn't like Oz.
Yes it was nice to hear about his religious side, would have helped balance his hectic lifestyle ❤ And I feel like most Brits love Australia, especially considering they were the first abroad settlers there lol Perhaps because its over a 20 hr flight it puts a lot of people off 😁 Thanks as always for watching and commenting my friend 🥰👍
Those Brit musicians who didn't like Oz was for reasons nothing to do with Oz itself or its people, but for reasons of difficulty in obtaining certain types of narcotics. Speaking as a Protestant, I feel sorry for people who need to waste their time attending a Catholic mass, like it's going to make any difference to anything in their life.
@@apollomemories7399 That would make sense as I can see how it would be harder to obtain when first arriving in Australia. Thank you for your response 😁👍❣
Chris was a flamboyant but articulate man but let ego get in the way of professionallsm when he clashed with Tony,he could have gone further career wise but had some emotional problems which caused his downfall..sad RIP Chris💎
Not a fan. Pretty darn good singer. But was too pushy and arrogant, taking over the leadership without knowing what he was doing. Ran off Jackson when he didn't need to. They were spectacular with Jackson and Pender on lead vocals. I do hope he was saved through knowing Jesus. Not sure about that double tracking McNally's guitar. Those were two different guitars, one being an ES-345.

I loved his presentations on stage. R.I.P. Chris. From a Searcher's Fan.

Wow that would have been amazing! Lucky you 🥰
Surely Freddie Garrity was one of, if not the most awful singers ever in the history of pop music. An absolute embarrassment.
Thank you for the request.

The first 45 without Chris was Take it or leave it that made something like number 33 in spring 1966. A great talent.
Thanks so so much!
So pleased you enjoyed it Josephine 🥰
I adored him. Still do. ❤

Originally Mike was lead guitarist and John on rhythm later John taking over lead.
They were great in 1963-64
Did they not make the them change the name of the group from the 'Pot Men' to . 'The Flower Pot Men' ?
Pender was lead & McNaly was rythem!

Looking at old tapes from the 1960's, I thought he was a bit of a drop kick........
