This book helped me immeasurably! Somewhere I picked up that God is just waiting for me to screw up to punish me. And yes Jesus died to save me but it had to have been begrudgingly. I read Gentle and Lowly and started believing that God is my loving Abba and Jesus sacrificed Himself for me because He really treasures me and wants me with Him for all eternity. It's been a journey and really tough. And I am still learning to accept His love.

I will not be able to or want to... take up the cross of Christ without knowing the deep heart of His Love in how He says "my yoke is easy and my burden is light...note He let's us know this cross is My yoke..My burden...He is telling me the take up the cross is "in Him"
I would be authentic..talk to Jesus about not feeling His rest...He will shed His loveing gentle light ..He knows you more than you know you..He is your counsellor who knows your weaknesses and cares deeply enough to work in you cause you are HIS masterpiece..or as some versions say HIS workmanship.
