One of the most horrific attacks. The shark was 20 feet in 7 feet of water which means it lifted itself up instead of breaching one of the first attacks that brought me to this channel. The men that went out to retrieve her body said they will forever be haunted when the shark went off with the rest of her underneath the boat and her arm was hanging off the sharks mouth waving goodbye. They were absolutely traumatized coming from farm life to be on the beach just to get eaten. They had spotted a large shark near before the attack they failed to listen to the warnings. Some say it could've been her perfume that drew the shark towards her. It's an old attack but I still pray for her kids and husband. I hope they can remember their mom loving them and the sea. Absolutely tragic. She didn't feel a thing she let out a sigh and she was gone. That's a huge shark. Ur talking about Australia to just as in the Simon Nelist case if no one was at the beach it would've been another day that fast that quick and nobody would've known it hit them.

When you enter a domain that is not your own to hunt of gather, you take the risk of being on the receiving end of something that has evolved to hunt in that domain. Not enough people consider this before they go into the water. Arrogance is dangerous.
Anytime someone enters the ocean one must accept the fact they may not come out alive. I love sharks, but I’m not entering their dining room. Humans are no match for apex predators.
Is there a way to speak to Hal? I have a very good friend, shark expert and director of one of the biggest oceanography departments in the US, south California based. Horrible thing to happen to Shirley and for her husband t witness it is so offull! So much for all the shark conservatives who have said over and over that sharks don't eat humans! Poor Shirley and her husband. I can't even imagine the horror! Hi Hal , thanks for another great show. 👍
When I think about the times I swam in the ocean when I was younger and unknowing, I shudder. After watching Jaws at 12 years old, I never went back in again. That was 45 years ago.
Like Popov, this story was particularly gut wrenching to imagine from the loved ones POV 😮
Thx Hal 👏👏👏
Popov very hard to watch for sure
Poor Shirley and her family! Another gruesome tragedy told as only you can Hal ! Heartfelt condolences go out to her family! Looking forward to the next episode brother! As always much love from all of us here in the UK 🇬🇧
Great show Hal, surely it was a terrible day for everyone.
Let me guess, "not an attempt to predate." 😂
One deadly shark attack yesterday in Mexico, a women swimming 70 ft from the shore, and another deadly shark attack today in the Bahamas, a woman from Boston MA, while board paddling at the distance of almost a mile from shore... Same suspects in both incidents: TIGER SHARKS.
I just came here to see if anyone had said anything about the Mexico one. Saw a video on Reddit, and omg people carrying her up on the beach by her arms and her left leg is gone up to her thigh. 😭
@@STEPHANIEH70I saw the same video: horrible! She was a young woman, a marine biologist swimming with his kid son close to the shore in a beach full of people.
@@STEPHANIEH70 "She died while saving her 5 y/o daughter. She saw the shark next to her kid, she moved fast to take her out of the water, sit her daughter in a nearby inflatable, out of the reach of the shark, and that is when the shark attacked her savagely . Experts now says it was a bull shark.
That is the other one i need to look into, the Mexico attack
@@SharksHappen What is happening with sharks in 2023, Hal? Saddly so many attacks in this almost gone year and a lot of them on video.
We love ya Hal!
Horrific to witness! Poor Barry..
Thanks Hal. Very horrific attack on Shirley RIP 💠
Awesome Hal!!! Ive heard this story before but you tell it much better...I just cant understand how a 20 foot shark can operate in 6 or 7 feet of water...mind blowing
Hey Hal just wanted to say that I am so glad you are doing more of the shark attack videos. I can't watch any of the other ones because they just don't know what the what the real circumstances about the attacks and just make it unbearable to watch
The temptation for some is overwhelming, the sea is beautiful and inviting.....so much water hides the unthinkable. I'm so so sorry for the families & friends dealing with such inexplicable heartache.
The keys water is hard to stay out of with those shades of blue. I understand completely but have not put a toe in that water in the 14 years going down there
One of the most horrific attacks.
First show title is the newspaper headline. Woman ripped in two. One of the more violent attacks from the 80s i can remember
I think that's probably the most gruesome think I've ever heard in my entire life!
Did you really refer to yourself as the left's worst nightmare? You gotta laugh 🤣
Much worse than Elon with his Twitter files. Google will not exist once the first suit flies because tens of thousands will follow. Is what happens when you rig an algorithm to kill some channels that you dont like
To make Shirley’s case even worse, her 4 children were also at the beach and witnessed everything from the sand. Just terrible.
Oh my! What a vicious attack. Sounds like it was desperate to feed. Poor Shirley and her family.
This is superbly done, no covering up the reality of exactly what Happened, but done with warmth and compation towards the victims ❤❤
Holy crap!!! That article at 3:30 is crazy!! Sounds like real life Jaws. The shark attacks a boat even going airborne, rips a beach net in half, then absolutely demolished this poor woman. In-freakin-sane!
I'm never swimming in the ocean again...pools are much more inviting!
In half. That is amazing. Must have been a large shark.
Quite common with the 16+ footers. They're massive in size compared to us
This attack, they said it was around 20ft
Good to see so many marine biologists in the comments here. Stay in school.
I think sharks know what we are, know that our heads are a vital area, knows what our eyes look like and can tell when we are not looking at them
This was so tragic. I’m so sorry
Horrific! To not to be able to do anything and watch is just unthinkable.
Yep. Like the recent Popov attack
Great job Hal I appreciate your work with ya all the way!
Shocking.
Thanks Hal. I like ur shark stories man.
Poor bloke having seen all that so brutal the shark consumed everything wow so vicious !!!
Wow... This was a horrific one, for sure. My condolences to Shirley's loved ones.
I love to nap to the sound of waves, but you couldn’t Pay me to even wade in the ocean..
Wow…. a living nightmare. Horrific. God bless her soul.
Geez. Her husband witnessed it, and had to go home and live his life.. just suddenly, your 33 yo partner is GONE. Horrible
When you enter a domain that is not your own to hunt of gather, you take the risk of being on the receiving end of something that has evolved to hunt in that domain. Not enough people consider this before they go into the water. Arrogance is dangerous.
What gets me is how clearly visible this attack was.
What a terrible sight. Hard to recover from seeing something like that.
Attached to a top tier research university. He allowed my daughter, 12 now, to be involved in research and preservation of rock sharks and short fin Makos in a study he was leading. Starting when she was 8. I have a picture of her holding a rock shark (very short period of time, very supervised). That's how good of a guy. Anyway, only a suggestion!!!
