Dennis Franz, now happily retired, lives in a neighboring town and is spotted while out and about quite often. By all accounts, he’s just the nicest guy and is grateful for the opportunities life has given him.
This meant so much to read. Thank you for posting this. Watching this entire 12 seasons again over the last few months, it felt so sad to me today knowing I had watched the last. episode and felt like I had just parted ways with someone I would never "know" again. I have read he had left acting to spend with his family and I hoped he was very happy and enjoying his life. It sounds silly but it was so nice to see someone actually say it.
I've loved this show from the beginning. I've watched every episode over and over. Amazon Prime has every season. There's not a better police related show ever. Love this post.
My husband and I had watched all the seasons of NYPD Blue more than once. This will always be something we can go back and watch without a problem, even the sad days that made us cry.
If NYPD was a seven- layered cake, these would all be the ingredients that hold it together. Set decoration, lighting, audio, designing, cameras, et al, with the icing being the actors and scripts. What a fantastic creation!
I’m flabbergasted by this brilliance! WOW! To recreate gritty nyc , i thought it really on location for all these years, what a task and what a realistic eye these designers have, I’m just blown away by this
Dont know who Huell Howser is, never heard of him, but dude....shut the fuck up for 2 seconds and let David answer your questions!!! I cant stand people like that. Ask you something and when you try to answer, just talks right over you and goes off to ask or say something else. Jeez dude, try a little less coffee and let people talk!!! Other than that, it was a great video. Im a HUGE NYPD Blue fan! Fun to see the set setup and of course, LOVE Dennis Franz!
Exactly! I thought the same thing throughout the entire video! Sorry to comment on yours after 2 years but re-watching NYPD on Hulu got me excited. Favorite show ever!
Bad interview skills turning your back on the set designer while talking to Dennis. This interviewer is terrible. He asks questions and isn't really interested in the answers.i feel bad for that guy the set designer
Huell had 2 shows on Los Angeles' PBS station, which were both very successful. He was originally from Tennessee, I believe. His Southern charm and boyish, curious ways is what I believe many liked about him. You could see in the show how many of the craftspeople were starstruck by him, and they were on the set of a hit TV show! I'm sure some of the people he interviewed through the years got a little frustrated and/or upset when he'd turn his back and mention something he saw, but the end product on the show was entertaining. I often felt like I was right there with him. At least thats my opinion!

This is one of the reasons this series was so great.

...and the music!!
What a great job those set designers do to make it really look like a NYPD precinct.

You are kidding right? I didn't see it this episode but sometimes he shakes someones hand for so long its hysterical. Huell was a gem.
Terrible interviewer...keeps interrupting and doesn't let the other man speak.A shame as I love nypd blue but the interviewer ruined this

You don't understand the magic of Huell. The man can make the most mundane subject interesting.
Love the show; bought the boxed set. This was going to be a treat for me to watch; ended after 3 minutes. Bored and annoyed.
@@danareynolds1786 Ugh. Very annoying, not at all charming.
The guy who is doing the Interview is horrible!!!!!
Heathen!
Huell makes what should be fascinating tedious and boring. "So this is supposed to be a NY neighborhood." Yes, Captain Obvious, it is.
