Frog Breeding is one of my favorite passive ways to earn money. Just get the best frog in the game which has a base cost of $160 and breed two of them together. The best part about this is that if you have multiple sims in your household, you can pass the frogs through the inventory of each sim (including children) and breed them for additional money and that way you get around the cooldown period.
@@queencleopatra007 if you have two frogs in your personal inventory you click on one of them and the option to breed comes up. There is a cooldown though of I believe 4 hours as I remember.
Yeah the only difference is what they look like (which is honestly an upgrade) and that the expensive one is functional off-the-grid, whereas the cheap one is not 😅
@@lilianschneider331 Check your game! They gave them to everyone. I'm so stoked. I don't even care about the money, I just like never having to empty them.
Even better than hosting partys is going on dates, if it's gold you get the 650 simoleons VIP bucket. So basicly have a date night with your spouse every once in a while...
Once you get into the swing of it, you can really do some speed dating and get gold in a sim hour or two. Which means you can have multiple dates if you want. I often schedule an 8 hour "work day" where my sim just goes on 5 dates in a row and earns around 3k simoleons. If you're doing rags to riches, it's perfect because going on a date doesn't need to cost your sim any money at all. You can work on the Soul Mate aspiration at the same time to earn heaps of aspiration points. That said, the costume party (from the deluxe edition) earns considerably more money even though it does cost a bit to set it up.
for sims without the Klepto trait you can create a club and set swiping as a club activity. This allows you to steal anything regardless of mischief level but the cooldown remains
These are great! My favorite way to make money is not base game, unfortunately. It does come from one of the least popular game packs, though. If you take your sims on vacation to Selvadorada from Jungle Adventure, they can find treasures. You can make a very lucrative "career" of being an archeologist. Your sim is technically unemployed, but stacking tens of thousands of Simoleans per trip. Leisure time abounds when you're an archeologist living on your own schedule.
Highly recommend the actor career if you want something that pays high and leaves you with a lot of free time to do other things. With the right fame perks you can skip the audition for the role and increase the pay per gig, with the actor aspiration trait it becomes impossible to fail the scenes and you only have to do a couple of the job tasks to ensure gold performance. All this combined with the distinguished degree with honours and you end up with a job you can pick when you want to work that pays out around 30 to 40K for what amounts to about 5 minutes of go to work gameplay. It's also guaranteed fame for your sim if that's your thing.
I love fishing because you can get Cowplant berries and every Cowplant is around 425 simoleons and you don't have to wait for it to grow, just plant it, go into build mode and sell it. You can also get many expensive things sometimes just because, like violins, cameras, toys, the future cube and even a digital sketch pad sometimes. 😊🎉
I didn't know the trashcan at the beginning provides money based on how many Sims there are in your household. I mostly play with 1 Sim at a time and thougth this method was rather slow to even earn the money back for having bought the thing in the first place.
I love the trash can. The money is nice, but what I like even more is that it never needs to be emptied! (And it can clip to the changing table like the regular diaper pail, but the diapers don't automatically go in.) Because we don't have time to be taking out the trash. And this hi-tech can works even off the grid. I don't get that, but I am here for it.
I start my sim in the business career or as a writer so they have a head start to make $200k to pass the fabulously wealthy aspiration. Once I get the shrewd trait it’s smooth sailing because as my household bank grows so does the level of interest. That sets me up for retirement when my sim is an elder. Not only do I get the direct deposit each day from retiring in the top level of my chosen career, I get the weekly interest from being shrewd. Cha Ching!
There is also taking food as an actor and selling it on the food stall ;) I saw James taking food at work in his video and immediately thought about selling it for profit.
I just recently found your videos and I love them! The guides and explanation videos like this are very in-depth and super helpful. I especially like the videos that have suggestions for new ways to try playing the game, they're really creative! Looking forward to more of your super sim's shenanigans, in the meantime thank you for this new guide!
Another great guide, Pete! Thanks! Since my sims tend to want to get burn out every other day I have been mixing what they like a bit more and combining things like painting and handiness just so I can jump back and forth when burn out threatens. I try to choose based on their personality (for example painting and handiness would be good for a creative genius) or maybe cooking and nectar making if they are creative and active. I always use the 3rd trait for a "flaw" to spice things up as well recently... I just can't bring myself to use a few traits like "high maintenance" because I feel like the issues are too easy to solve and it's just more annoying than challenging.
Yet another great video! I love Rags to Riches gameplay! I love coming up with new, fun (non traditional) ways for my Sims to make money. I hope you're having an amazing day as well! Take care!
Thank you so much kmraz!! It's definitely good fun using out of the box money making methods! Hope you're having an amazing day and week too legend :)!
I love how you make sure to include both the most standard stuff and stuff that some people wouldn't think of, like just constantly asking friends for loans or using the special nanotech trash can. XD And licensing songs would be a lot more lucrative even with the "one a week" cooldown if it didn't take SO FREAKING LONG to write songs. Like, if you make your Sim sit down and do it, you can churn out books like no one's business, but songs take FOREVER! I disapprove. :(
You can license one song per week per instrument. So if you master violin, guitar, and piano you can license 3 songs a week. Did you test making cupcakes in the oven to the machine since the update to allow baking cupcakes that way?
A really great call with the music licensing being per instrument. Thanks so much for sharing! :) Also yes I'm pretty sure that sadly excellent baked cupcakes made in a normal oven can't be sold the same way that the ones made on the cupcake machine can.
I know this is an old video but another cool way simoleons instead of purchasing the seeds during the love festival if you have that pack you can harvest the flowers you can collect birds of paradise, roses, lilies and tulips you could sell them or plant them
If you have Get Famous then buy the video station and the drone. Film yourself doing literally anything, like maybe something in this video, edit it fully and publish. You earn a lot of royalties and if you do this every day it'll really add up. It's also much faster to do than writing or making music.
I believe the flower arranging comes from Seasons and Plopsy from Nifty Knitting, but that's a pretty shrewd strategy if you have those packs! I definitely don't use Plopsy enough.

Ohhhh! I thought the Nanocan trash can gave 10 simoleons for each piece of trash thrown away in one go, for example picking up 2 plates of rotten food at once and throwing them away would give 20 simoleons. I wondered why it wasn't consistent and chalked it all up to a bug. Now I know it's actually 10 simoleons per household member. Now I'm wondering: Do roommates count? If I have an 8-sim household and 2 roommates, would the trash can give me 100 simoleons or just 80?

I love doing this too! Came in handy for my 100 baby challenge. Everyone in the household had a set of $100+ frogs to breed every few hours.
How clever. I didn't know about this passing frogs around. How did you figure thi out?
