Puppet existentialism portrayed in the best and most moving way. I got chills when he slowly looked up at his controller and the music completely changed! A genius piece.
My son bought a puppet at Disney when he was six. I told him, 'you will be good when you can make it cry.' He didn't know what I meant so I searched 'crying puppets' and found this video. We both watched it and we both cried. I've probably watched it 100 times since. I show it to my 8th grade English/Language Arts classes to show conflict and plot elements. To a man who knows nothing about puppets it is clear, this is a masterpiece.
I first saw this as a child decades ago on a tv show. I couldn’t forget about it. I looked and looked for years trying to find it. And a couple of years back I found it here. I watched it, and the same feelings hit me just as hard as the first time. A sadness that’s hard to describe. It’s hitting you right in the heart. It is so raw, so simple, yet complicated. The puppeteer is indeed extremely talented. Thank you, @Disgustipated for uploading it!
@esraareda2755 I'm not sure, but I think this is from "The Paul Daniels Magic Show", The "1980 Christmas Special", originally aired December 25, 1980. On NETWORK BBC. I know that Philippe Genty, the puppeteer, was on that show. Unfortunately I haven't found where to see this particular show. But maybe you have better luck finding it. If you do, please let me know.
@@MayVilMa I found it just 5 minutes ago and yes indeed it’s the christmas special and I guess he only appeared in this episode. www.dailymotion.com/video/x169raf
One of the saddest puppet acts I’ve ever seen. The way the puppeteer expresses and portrays the meaninglessness of life to people and mere inanimate objects is just phenomenal, you’re right, it is brilliant and moving
Nowadays when you look at movies, you see that they try to put realistic visuals first.. The most realistic CGI and special effects and all that - trying to make you forget that it's a movie. They could learn something from this act here. Wachting this act, we know it's a puppet, we see it's a puppet, and yet when watching this, slowly before our eyes we see the puppet become alive. This is some of the best examples of 'suspension of disbelief' I've seen in my life so far. To me, this puppet started as an object and turned into a real person. I was devestated to see it return into an object again, I was interally screaming for him to stop pulling the threads because I wanted him to life. This show was only 5 minutes and yet the emotions I felt were so raw and pure. Really well done.
I liked this video it was like humans and he sees the strings and realizes his life is not his own and pulling the strings is like he'd rather die than be controlled by someone else
This is the most emotional puppet show I have ever watched, the utter sadness is a thing beyond words. The music was impactful giving you moments to question the very thing before you before admitting to a truly disturbing climax. The puppet itself is not just an object of misery or sadness it is a thing of many feelings along with the interaction with the puppeteer himself, granted a true statement of Life, Death and Control
So sad, so moving...and so brilliantly executed. The puppet has such a terrible dilemma . I did wonder if he would return to life once all the strings has snapped :-(
Mark Charlton that's what I was hoping for. Like a Pinocchio puppet comes to life type thing. I was sitting here thinking I hope he's got some invisible string as back up. Good show anyway though.
The way the puppeteer breaks the fourth wall with his puppet is astonishing and brilliant. Perhaps this concept of the puppet seeing his controller has been done before, but never have I seen it done so creatively. Excellent performance.
I saw this amazing performance several years ago and just thought I'd try to find it. There's so many lessons in this performance, like who or what is pulling your strings.
incredible and wonderful!i have shown this to lots of friends and everybody was so touched...it's so good that it hurts...would like to see some more..
my mind has just been blown. an old art form proving that it hasnt lost its magic. much more impressive than anything a computer could do, and i love great digital art, but this has me rethinking things .....
The puppet becomes human before my eyes without a word being said. The power of music, poignant humanity and great art never cease to amaze! Thank you for posting this stunning video and to laoniricArte1 for sharing!
Thank you for sharing. This was extremely moving. I share the same sentiments as the other comments regarding simplicity, liberty, and suicide--in addition to your title. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this performance. Thank you, again, for sharing.
what a show man! this is a very intimate interaction between a puppet and a puppeteer, or we can say an expression of the trauma of a puppet if it would have life. i wish i could be there to experience it. thumbs up!!!
This is horrifyingly beautiful. Although the puppet committed suicide, I feel like he was liberated from sadness and control. To him, it was probably the only escape from misery. I don't know, that's my take. I believe the artist did a magnificent performance.
Wow I looked "marionette puppet show" to use a clip for my music video, and as soon as I saw this I remembered watching it in school or on tv when it first came out. Ahhh #nostalgia 😊
Fucking amazing. This is fucking art. So fucking beatiful. Its so sad yet cool. The faceless expression conveys many feelings. This is why i love puppetry. Truly amazing
no words can describe how true this rings home. genius, makes u wonder if, as we move along in life, if some higher power, is pulling r strings, or is it r "free will?" i would like to think it is my free will, but it may not be enough to explain my unending search for the "true" reason 4 my own existence. this is the most heart hitting, yet, creative thing i have seen in quite a while. thanks.
watching puppetry for the first time today. it's a great artist, really really touching and i'm not a crybaby. -are there other puppet vids someone could recommend which are as beautiful but joyful? or is puppetry at its best sad??
It might come off as creepy the first time you watch it, but if you look at it deep enough you'll find a puppet contemplating why it lives the way it does.
I find it fascinating how a face that never changes can convey so many different expressions.
Corinne holy shit! That's so true. Good one
yes
Very true.
You're so right
Brilliant

it's exactly our job to put an emotion in a piece of fabric, wood, latex ... (a French puppeteer)

Ki11erTeddybear deep but true❤️
But therein is the torment of the puppet
Is he still a puppet when he is no longer controlled?
Haunting performance, very spectacular.

I cried a lot. Usually puppets scare me but this hit me right in the feels.
Same!
apparently no one wants to be controlled, not even the puppet
Shahbaz Hukkeri thought to ponder on

Beautifully made. An amazing mime fulfilled by a character's own demise. Saddening, yet intriguing.
I wanted to cry that was amazing. I hope my work gets that good some day.
You have puppets?!
First puppet suicide iv ever watched. Sad. :(
crazy because it loops perfectly when you watch it again ~
Wow, that got increasingly painful to watch. I even caught myself whimpering and shedding a few tears.
Absolute brilliant work.
This is so powerful. It's those seconds at the end where you're just looking at the body, as if it actually were actually alive at one point
So mesmerising and human....I still believed it was alive once the strings were all severed, about to get up any minute! The pacing was perfect
Possibly one of the greatest forms of art I have ever laid my eyes on. This is brilliant!
This video has blown me away consistently for 10 years.
This is very depressing, yet explains so much.
My drama teacher showed us this video 😂
Edit: just saw the end I'm about to cry 🥺
I thought about making a Spamton joke, but the show was pulling at my heart strings the whole time.

Csodálatos, elragadó művészi alkotás. Szívből gratulálok.
If you can't be free theres no point in living. This made me cry...
Spectacular performance. Interesting idea the puppeteer is conveying through the puppet.
I don't know how I came across this but I now have this video forever in my mind.
My interpretation is simply this, “I’d rather be dead than be your puppet.”
how could be such simple show for a puppet with simple music be such deep and kinda unsettling , love it anyway thx .
my mind has just been blown. an old art form proving that it hasnt lost its magic. much more impressive than anything a computer could do, and i love great digital art, but this has me rethinking things .....
This is a touchingly beautiful routine for a marionette. One of my favorites.
Hats off for BOTH
to make a comment is not possible for the artist.
hats off!
The puppet becomes human before my eyes without a word being said.

amaze! Thank you for posting this stunning video and to laoniricArte1

世界観といい、音楽といい、哀愁漂う人形の表情といい、良くできた芸術作品だと思う。
開幕直後、起き上がって曲に合わせて手を振ってるシーン。
何度見ても人形の口角が上がってるように見える。
Music reminds me of a Clockwork Orange!
YOOO
wtf is internet why was this guy here 8 years back
Excellent Show!!! The most meditative 515 seconds of my life. I have assessed my life from many aspects within these seconds.

Bravo et Merci Beaucoup!!! pour partage de cette beauté avec le Monde!!!
holy shit this made me tear up (and i almost never do)..
4:15 OH MY GOD SLENDERMAN but seriously, this performance is amazing. I think I started drooling, I was so enticed.
this is so amazingly beautiful and expressive it makes me need to feel for the puppet
I'll never forget this puppet show...
What’s the name of it?
Thank you for sharing. This was extremely moving. I share the same sentiments as the other comments regarding simplicity, liberty, and suicide--in addition to your title. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this performance. Thank you, again, for sharing.
YES IT IS. I DO NOT GET TIRED OF WATCHING THIS PERFORMANCE.

Brilliant manipulation! This is what puppeteering is all about! A great performance artist!
so Beautiful 😭

Incredible.... realy incredible...tears for me.
This is just amazing and unusual to watch. thank-you so much. its very Cool!
I've always liked this particular video for some reason, but thanks Mr. T for showing me this in Drama class ^^
when a puppet realized that he's a doll with strings...
so sad...
Did I just watch a puppet commit suicide? LOL AWESOME THOUGH
this is one of my favourite videos on youtube ever!
I love this video.
A marionette figuring out he is not in control, cuts his strings because he would rather die than be controlled by someone else.
It's so sad but brilliant at the same time!

Now idk if life is real anymore
Magnificent and delightful.
thumbs up if you just watched Being John Malkovich
I felt sad for him. I understood his desire to be free
This is so beautiful.
3:58 absolutely love the music 🎵

wow, best puppet video ive EVER seen.
Spectacular performance
I had an urge to search for this.
Very emotional TwT great show btw-
Wow... didn't see that coming. That was powerfull
Beautiful... love the concept! Sad yes
What a sentimental puppet show, I always though of puppets as a kind of silly expression of art but this proved me wrong.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
i was 3 when this came out
By now you are 11
Yea Parents! lets show our kids this and get them into puppetering! They won't have nightmares!
watching puppetry for the first time today. it's a great artist, really really touching and i'm not a crybaby. -are there other puppet vids someone could recommend which are as beautiful but joyful? or is puppetry at its best sad??
A masterpiece
Thank goodness with all the garbage that passes for talent and entertainment, we still have artists with soul...and feeling for their arts......
awesome performance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Marvelous! Simply Marvelous!
This is fantastic!
Fantastisch de pop en speler er achter, het lijkt wel echt die gelaatsuitdrukkingen 😳
It might come off as creepy the first time you watch it, but if you look at it deep enough you'll find a puppet contemplating why it lives the way it does.
This is a brilliant artist!
Thank you so-so much!!
Right in the feels...
Pinocchio: The German Remastered Version
Directed by Werner Herzog.
