Oh to be a young teen and blast this. It felt like discovering the world. Of course, everyone experiencing this is entitled to this feeling. It just felt so new at 13/14 while being introduced to the language of therapy in the early 80s.
One of my most favorite songs of the 80s. I never get tired of listening Shout since I was a kid. I like a lot your reactions, Dereck. Congratulations for this site.
Roland Orzabal has such a mesmeric voice! I became a fan of TFF simply because of that, then I went on to listen to all their other stuff and my life was changed! A worthy song to approve.
Just imagine you're 14 and you sing along and loudly this song with your mates in school year end parties... Memories !! "Shout" represents the 80's at their best and you're right 1985 was a great year for music !!!
Hi Dereck! I was kinda sad as I thought you'd given up on Tears For Fears after only one try. They're one of the best 80's bands with plenty of hits. Next times, I suggest you react to SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE, EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD, and HEAD OVER HEELS (my favorite!) amongst many others. Take care, Dereck, and keep up the good work.
Iconic, Tears for fears are awesome composers, "Shout" is one of their great songs, but there are a lots, "Mad world" (amazing covers years laters), "Change", "Sowing the seeds of love" etc... I love so much those "adding" songs, which starts in a minimal way and add instruments and tracks all along the song and finish in a full harmony and power.
What a fantastic song. Love the music and lyrics. Roland and Curt singing on their own and together. That TFF sound is just so different and distinctive. The song and video are infectious. You just have to sing along (out loud). Almost forgot Roland's guitar riffs.❤️🔥
Pale Shelter, Change, Closest Thing to Heaven, Woman in Chains, Mother's Talk, Raoul and the Kings of Spain, Sowing the Seeds of Love, Mad World, Break it Down Again, Secret World
Shout !!!! Shout !!! La la la.... 🎶🎵 Tears for fears, so good, effectively ❤️ Tears for fears, childhood memories ❤️ 🤗 "Everybody wants to rule the world" 👌, my memories too 🤗❤️
Such a good song ! Sometimes I catch myself singing it at the top of my lungs, just because it feels so good ^^ ; and I find that the arrangements of the song are still very effective ! Tear for Fears were amazing... "Woman in chains", "Sowing the seeds of love"... Another lovely reaction Dereck ;)
He Dereck, strong voices from both Artist! This a song with a lot of depth. The Music was so different at the time!It was like Revolution a little bit!!!Great Song!Thank you for your reaction!!!!!🐬
Cool react, Dereck. Just a note: this album of TFF was produced by Dave Bascombe, same producer of MUSIC FOR THE MASSES, by Depeche Mode. Your previous REACT video was listening NEVER LET ME DOWN AGAIN, and if you listen again, the snare sound at SHOUT as the same sound in "Never Let..". Bascombe presented the drum machine used in SHOUT to Depeche Mode and Alan Wilder And Martin Gore (FROM DM) used the same sound setup :)
Fell in love with their music just a month ago, thanks to your reaction of « The working hour » which is a great piece of music ; I knew a few of their songs, as they’re pretty famous, but never really listened to all their work and WOW. Had to buy the vinyls and I can’t get enough. What a talent! Their voices and lyrics, the melodies, the synth, I’m totally obsessed. I’m 30 years old but listening to their music makes me nostalgic of a time I didn’t even know. Love them!!!
More of Tears For Fears : _ smooth and sad : Woman in chains _ political claim : Everybody Wants To Rule The World _ beautiful patchwork : Sowing the Seeds of Love ... and what about some INXS (I need you tonight, Suicide Blonde...) ?
I suggest checking out another great song from this album, 'Head Over Heels.' The video takes place in a library. :) Also, Roland Orzabal is an underrated guitar player imo.
Written by Tears for Fears 🇬🇧. Produced by Chris Hughes 🇬🇧. CH was the drummer for Adam Ant 🇬🇧. 1 of the first songs recorded for the album Songs from The Big Chair. The best singing of Roland Orzabal in this album! 😃 1 of the bestselling songs from 1985. 😃 Suggested next video: Everybody Wants to Rule the World.🎸 🎹👨🎤🥁🎸🇬🇧
Roland Orzabal is one of my favorite musician, producer and one of the best voices out there! Check out his own solo album Elemental and some other of his work, for instance the Tomcats screaming outside's "Kill love" which is more electronica/drum&bass and out of this world good!!! he also produced Emiliana Torrini's 1st album and it's a must listen!!, amazing electronica very melodic songs, his production is amazing! Curt Smith is a fantastic and tasty bass player. You should check out some videos of them live, any will do but I recommend their Spotify landmark's one as they also talk about a lot of their songs in between performing them and their band is top notch!!!
One of the best song ever 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 The best of "Tears for fear" with "Everybody wants to rule the world" 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 (in my opinion 😉🙏💐) Thanks again 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
Great song, iconic from the 80's. An interesting band, for sure. 👍🏻 All their synths were recently acquired by Behringer (German audio company who entered the game of musical instrument manufacturers)... probably to be clone. This song is special to me because, this year, I traveled to England with the school. Officially to practice English language but we rarely talked to people... it was only for a few days. And Shout was our soundtrack (among others new wave hits) for the trip.
my favorite is the one with the guitar and earring, I like both of them. I just turned 30 in October 1991 baby here, thank god to my parents growing up with the 80’s, I absolutely love the 80’s. Please react to Skid Row song is called 18 and life
The distinctive synthesizer in the verses and choruses is called ARR1, coming from the Fairlight CMI. For all the musicians here, I sampled it on my emax (DM sampler), so I have it in SF2 format for whoever wants it.
Lots of things to love in this song, including at 06:26 the famous "ARR1" Fairlight preset solo omnipresent in the 80's. And I forgot the guitar solo was so on point !!!!! :-)
There is a song from their first album called "Watch Me Bleed", which is really underrated, but completely awesome. The only version I have seen is a live version from a small venue, and they are so very young. It's absolutely worth watching. 1985 was a great year for music, so glad I was alive (and graduating from HS) for it all!
Hey dude, happy you gave TFF another chance. Next ones to listen to : Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Head over Heels, Mothers Talk, Sowing the Seeds of Love…
I was going to say-if Dereck didn't know this I would of been very worried! I mean it was a massive hit in the US(and in other countries) and still play on radio etc Another enjoyable reaction Dereck, Could you please next do other 80's ones like: Den Harrow-Don't Break my Heart, Mysterious Art-Das Omen. Also some British 80's Acid House like I said in the live stream-D-Mob: We Call it Acieed(1988), Krush: House Arrest(1987), The Funky Worm: Hustle to the Music(1988), Jackmaster Funk: Feat Darryl Pandy-Love Can't Turn Around(1986-was a hit in the US Clubs. But was a hit in the UK pop charts) Humanoid-Stakker: Humanoid(1988), A Guy Called Gerald: Voodoo Ray(1988)- I could go on and on!
Much better than the other video with Pet Shop Boys.. Does that mean I prefer the 80's to the 90's, or is this song simply better ? It still scores half the number of views for today's Piaf (not to be confuse with today's tweet).. Its a shame!
This proves to you once again that the French, especially his subscribers, have the tastes of the old! I've noticed it for a long time! They deserve a lot more view, that's for sure!
I hate to break this to you Dereck but this song was released in the UK late in 1984. I agree that 85 was a great year for music though. If you haven't heard Tear for Fears next single after this one, Everybody Wants To Rule the World, it's a must.
Oh to be a young teen and blast this. It felt like discovering the world.
Of course, everyone experiencing this is entitled to this feeling. It just felt so new at 13/14 while being introduced to the language of therapy in the early 80s.
This song ages so well!
How “mad world” transitions into “pale shelter” off the Hurting album, is emotional genius.
The Indochine's singer , Nicola Sirkis sings "Mad World" , in his solo CD.
Roland + Curt are an amazing duo.
One of my most favorite songs of the 80s. I never get tired of listening Shout since I was a kid. I like a lot your reactions, Dereck. Congratulations for this site.

Love that, thanks for taking me back to 20 years old. Love them! Great job! Peace love and blessings on you!
What a fantastic song. Love the music and lyrics. Roland and Curt singing on their own and together. That TFF sound is just so different and distinctive. The song and video are infectious. You just have to sing along (out loud). Almost forgot Roland's guitar riffs.❤️🔥

You need to check out other English (British) music from that era, you'll love it. Talk Talk are another group you'll probably like
Cool memory of school:) simple minds " Mandela day".
More of Tears For Fears :

Love this song, that bass always gets me. Kajagoogoo’s ‘Too Shy’ bass line shook me first though? lol
Yes!!! Nick Beggs is a monster bass player!!!
There was some type of a reunion you can find here on YT.
SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE
I just love you facial reactions and mannerisms
This video is filmed at Durdle Door, an arch of limestone on a beach on the south coast of England UK

Thanks for the react 😅 so many yet to discover.
A metal cover by disturbed is the most widespread cover version of the track btw
Yes, great song!
Approved by me too!!

This is what they call a classic.
The best
Hi Dereck ! Etretat in France was the background for that clip !
Love that song!
Head Over Heels is a great track by Tears for Fears from this classic album Songs from the Big Chair.
Génial, excellent ! 🏆🏆🏆
love love love them
Lots of things to love in this song, including at 06:26 the famous "ARR1" Fairlight preset solo omnipresent in the 80's. And I forgot the guitar solo was so on point !!!!! :-)
I cannot count how often I sang this song in Karaoke bars :-)
or even in the street, as far as I'm concerned, it happened to me! ^^
There is a song from their first album called "Watch Me Bleed", which is really underrated, but completely awesome. Others by TFF worth a view/listen:
SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE
WOMAN IN CHAINS [with Oleta Adams]
favorite song of theirs is Head Over Heels
The people in the background are family and friends who helped make the crowd for the music video
Hey dude, happy you gave TFF another chance. Next ones to listen to : Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Head over Heels, Mothers Talk, Sowing the Seeds of Love…
Change would be the best right next because it has a similar sound but then all the ones you mentioned are quality songs as well for sure!
Toujours au top Derek ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was going to say-if Dereck didn't know this I would of been very worried!
I mean it was a massive hit in the US(and in other countries) and still play on radio etc

'he's really projecting' well I'd hope so with a song called shout haha
Curt is the bassist. '84 -'85 was arguably the pentacle of pop music.
Yes Dereck, yes 😍
