I lost it abit when I heard you choking up talking about your Dad. I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm sure he would be super proud at the amount of effort you put into these videos. Godspeed bro.
No joke bro, I got choked up before your voice even cracked towards the end. I literally watched the entire series here in one sitting. Very well done. My favorite memories of playing MK are when my friends mom would come in and tell us lunch was ready, then she would watch us play and end it with "what the hell did I do wrong...make sure your sister has a go as well..." Then 20 minutes later yell upstairs to tell us our sandwiches were getting cold. She has since passed away but she was the best second mom a kid could ever ask for. Love her and miss her so much! ❤❤
Fuck man, sorry to hear about your friend's mom. Having great memories like that is so important, I'm glad you have such a vivd recollection of it. Much love, my dude.
@@616Entertainment I cried when you was talking about your dad. I miss my dad so much and I know your pain. Thank you so much for posting all of these Mk games. I just bought Mk11 and I've been on deck since the very 1st MK...I can NEVER forget after my 8th grade graduation and going out to this arcade and seeing scorpion for the 1st time saying "get over here"...I've been in love ever since!!!...I'm 40 years old and going strong and still playing MK... May God bless you and thank you for the memories. I had forgotten about some of those mk games!!! ....TY again 😎👍
IAMWBH3 Productions Thank you for staying around for the entire 6 months! I know that’s a long time, and I’m glad you enjoyed it. More where this came from in 2019!
GaijinUGK4L Tekken And Street Fighter I cant do, unfortunately. I only want to make documentaries on franchises I already have a deep knowledge of, and Tekken and SF don’t quite fall into that category for me. But I hope you enjoy the next one regardless!
Haha they announced mk11 that month as u predicted lol dude i loved this series as well i stayed up a good portion of the night watching this entire thing you definitely get a sub from me
I believe that "Khan" is not really a name, but a title. Notice that when Mileena demands the rule over Outworld as descendant of Shao Kahn their minions refer to her as "Kahnum" (female version of the title?). She even has a costume with this name.
@@616Entertainment I don't want to rage about a grown man being unfamiliar with the term "khan" (as in Genghis Khan or Kublai Khan), the mongol title for supreme military leader, though I guess the fact that it's written as "Kahn" (keeping with the MK tradition of canonical misspelling) could throw one off
@@616Entertainment rip for your dad, I know how you feel about those memories of gaming with your dad. My dad passed away in 2011, he was a hard worker too, devoted to his family, I have fond memories with him playing medal of Honor on ps2.
I started crying when he talked about his dad. My dad worked nights most of my life too, he never really played video games with me and I'm lucky he's still around but it still hit very close to home. I know I wont have another 10 years with him. I'll probably be lucky to get another 5 with the way he's still working himself to death. I know it's also on his mind, a couple days before Christmas he sat down with me and we had a conversation about it. He's already at the age my grandma, his mom, died. He told me he was proud of me and he was sorry for not being there as much as he would of liked. Working nights will do that, but I wouldn't of had such a good life and childhood if he wouldn't of made that sacrifice. Your dad knew how much you cared 616 and I think he would be proud of you too. If my dad can be proud of a fuck up like me, I know your dad was proud of you too.
@@99EKjohn dude... make time, be there for when he can hang out, my dad is gone and I would do anything for another 30 minutes, do NOT wait until its too late, its a hell of a regret to carry around, that will never go away, you don't want it, trust me
he totally jynxed himself with the "fuck me right" line at the end, i was hoping when i saw the date of this video it came out after the trailer. damn!! need part 6 asap even if its small!
NEVER thought as a grown as man I would tear up from watching a mortal kombat series on TH-cam but yet hear I am. Just goes to show how good of a job you did. Keep up the good work. Definitely got a subscribe out of me!!
The end of this video hit me pretty hard... I'm about your age, 31, and I grew up playing all these too, I felt the same way as you almost completely minus online being super fun to me. But my father would occasionally sit down and play mortal kombat with me and my sister who is just over a week shy of being a year younger than me, sometimes my friends. He's not dead but I do avoid interaction with him as much as I possibly can, because he fell hard into Crack, and made it perfectly clear to us that he wasn't going to stop. He goes through spots of being clean but always goes back, I wouldn't say I hate him, but there is a lot of negative feelings towards him and I generally get angry every time we see each other. You brought me to tears at work because I hide my Bluetooth headphones under my hearing protection, and this entire series was just from an auto play. You made me look back and remember the man and father that he was, and it devastated me to the very core, I've had this all locked inside totally forgot all about it until now. Thank you for helping me to remember he wasn't always an idiot, and that I have some good memories in the ol' vault upstairs... Also are you as pumped as I am about the mk 11 teaser trailer as I am?!? Can't wait for the game play trailer I think it was March or April? Sorry this was so long but if you are ever in the nashville area I'd like to get a few cans of surge some Prince's Nashville hot chicken and challenge you to some mortal kombat! Also subbing right now
Dude first of all, I'm glad I could bring back some of the good times for you. My dad wasn't always super dad. He had his faults, too. But naturally, we try and remember the bright lights rather than the darkness in between. Second of all, fuck yea, Surge! And lastly, yessir, in late January I'll be covering the info we get about MK11 from the 1-17 community event. And if I'm ever out there, fucking for sure dude. That sounds awesome.
I played online only on Deception and Armageddon. MK9 was too laggy for me and I only watched the storyline online of MK10. MKA was mostly full of short cheap custom characters with the Chicken Axe combo and fast tombstone drop. The shorter the character the faster the Tombstone drop. if you blocked Kustom Kharacters, many users would just pick Blaze. The Serena users were annoying but I was able to get around them. Then half of the people disconnected when you were going to beat them especially a person with a great W/L record. That being said I stayed on the Kart Racing mostly. Once in a while you got a good game and was humbled but it was largely cheap players and disconnecters. Especially after the first 3 months of release. Deception was the best MK online experience I had.
Right in the feels. My parents were divorced. Time at home with mom meant MK on the Game Boy. Every other weekend with dad meant MK on the SNES! Life took a turn after MK3, and I missed out on a TON of the MK universe. I feel all caught up now, thx to you. Thx for putting this together.
Dude that story about your dad put a smile on my face. I grew up playing MK with my brother, and we played the first 3 games a lot. I remember my mom always getting mad it was too volent, but still letting us play. Later in life, when mk9 released, i used it as a bonding moment with my brother. I cheered him on as he played story mode and we played multiplayer a lot, in a time in his life when he moved away from gaming. Best part? My mom wasn't resistant anymore. She'd excitedly play with us too and would love playing. It was then that i learned that she always liked the series, she just didn't want to set a "bad" example for us. Anyway, mk is great and i enjoyed your series. Can't wait for mk11. 😊
Thank you man. You may not even read this. But I've watched your whole series in binge mode. And... thanks for the memories and for making this one of my best Sunday afternoons ever. I was very touched by your father's tribute in the end, and I'm sure he's proud. Thank you so much. Salutes from Brazil. Thank you.
Bigfactz.. I binged watched every episode.. Nuthn but nostalgia, I was 11 when the franchise started. I promise you til this day there's only 2 games I ever play consistently; Mortal Kombat series and Devil May Cry series. Nuthn else satisfy me
That dad story.....shit made me tear up lol reminds me of my dad and made me want to play him or spend time with him right now. your dedication and effort put into these videos was amazing. Earned a sub from that alone. Should’ve waited just a bit longer as the new mk11 trailer just dropped but oh well still a fantastically put together series. Thank you!
Vincent Vila Thanks for watching! And I don’t regret dropping it 3 days before the reveal, as 1) I totally called it and look smart and 2) everyone searching for MK shit right now is giving me a gigantic boost in audience reach. I appreciate the compliments, man. I hope you enjoy the next History Of!
my dad was the same way, he and i would play Mortal Kombat together, i remember he and i played MK Deception and we played Chess Kombat, he was good at chess, but i was good at the fighting, a memory that will never be repeated again, as in april of 2019 would mark 12 years since he had died.....
Yeah the dad part hit me in the feels. My dad wasn’t a gamer at all either but I cherished the few times I could get him to pick up the controller in certain games. Looking back, I appreciate it even more that he was trying to connect with me over something he really wasn’t good at and had no interest in
I teared up too. My kids play MK sometimes too. My daughter's likes to play the mk v. DC universe and she always calls me to come play when she's in the mood to play it and she's the one to call out "no special moves". Lol! My boys are more into COD so it's just me and my baby girl...sometimes mom plays too.😂 I feel good when my daughter wants to play this cuz mk deception was the very first game that I ever spent time really playing and bought all the cheat books to help me win. Just like I spent all my time and quarters at the arcade/movies playing mk3 and ultimate mk3 when I was 14(I'm 37). And Now my kids playing it gives me a bit of feel good(and old)nostalgia.🤣🤣🤣
This entire series was an effort worthy of a 500,000 subscriber channel! You are a champion, this is the first type of content I've seen from you, and you've got my subscription. Thank you for this, and thank you for sharing your story at the end about what Mortal Kombat deeply means for you.
@@616Entertainment I just watched this over my weekend and it was awesome. You give people who haven’t kept up with MK or play it much (me) a life longs fans view who still sees the bad and the good in one of their favorite game franchises. You definitely earned my sub keep up the good work!
My dad was a jock and I was gamer. We bonded over one game (not MK) and I bought every sequel to that game when he passed, I would take it home and be a little misty eyed before I could start playing. It is good to have those memories, thanks for sharing yours.

That fucking ending. And I'm watching on Christmas Eve too so, I dunno, maybe there's something in the air. That was a really really nice thing you did there and I love it. I lost my mum 14 years ago when I was but a teen and I remember her playing Sonic and other daft shit with me back in the day. Much love to you and yours my man and merry Christmas.
I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to work on MKX and have fans like you validate all the hard work. Thank you for making these great videos.
I know this is beyond years old. But I just want you to know , personally MKX is my favorite MK by far man! I'm 22 years old. I've been around since deadly alliance on forward so I've experienced all of them . But thank you so much for the time you put into this masterpiece
Dude summer of 2004 my uncle came over to visit and on the last day of visitation, he gave me with a game called Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for PS2. Coming from a big Need For Speed fanbase, I told him, "What is this game?" And he just told me, "I don't play it anymore, so you can have it. And try to not play when your mom and dad are around." A week after he left and me getting bored of playing the same old games. I decided to go and get Deadly Alliance, lock the door from my room, and popped the disc in my PS2. And man from the intro to the main menu. It was incredible!! I already felt like Liu Kang was the good guy but seeing Shang Sung break his neck made me say to myself, "Shit, this is not a cliche type of game, where the other guy saves the other good guy." So when choosing who to play on arcade I saw Scorpion, and IMMEDIATELY I fckin picked him, cause he looked BADASS. My other favorites were, Sub-Zero, Mavado, Shang Sung, and Raiden. But Scorpion was my go to guy. So when I played the computer and i won the match I always did the flaming back flip as my "Finish Him" move. But then one time I saw this tab called "Fatality" and I wanted to do the flaming back flip bit I couldn't. And I was pissed cause Scorpion would just sit there, and the opponent would fall down. And I was like this is dumb. So after a few more fights, when it was time to "Finish Him" I paused the game, also this was VERY clumsy of me to not know, I checked the moves list and saw this new tab of fight called "Fatality" and I see s move called "Spear Head" and I was like, "Oooooooohhhhhhhh THIS is what you gotta do." So I resumed the game and I hit the buttons and......... I WAS TOO FCKIN SLOW AND MY OPPONENT FELL AGAIN!! So even though I was fckin raged. I knew it had to do it faster and maybe hit the buttons correctly. So it took me a while, but when I finally got Mavado readied up to Finish Him, QUICK!! GO TO FATALITY TAB!!, HIT THAT BACK, BACK, DOWN, BACK, CIRCLE!!! and HO-LEEE SHIT!! Fckin whips out the spear, hooks his head, and pulls that shit till it falls off and EXPLODES!! And then I hear, "Scorpion wins...... Fatality." I WAS FCKIN PUMPED!! Full of achievement running through my body and a whole lot of WTF in my head as to what I just saw. And that moment right there is when I knew I was gonna be a fan of this franchise!!
when i could never beat my dad at mk vs dc and he always fatalityed me i got so mad but when i got mk x i shot a spear in my brothers head ripped it off and stabbed it on a rock i was like i'm a scorpion fan boy
Hell, that story about your dad was the perfect way to finish the series. It's obvious you have love for the game, and that's what made this a success. Thank you for this, truly, I had a blast watching it! I played MK 1 to 3 on SNES with my dad since when I was 3 years old, and I remember him going all "I'm Goro, uoooorgh" and lifting me around. That, alongside finishing Shaolin Monks with a close friend at his house, waking up early every day to go over and play (and neither of us knew any English, so progressing sometimes was HARD), and multiple Vs. sections on Deadly Alliance at my house in the weekends are my favorite MK memories, and this documentary brought them all back. I had already subscribed and looking forward to see what you bring next. Lots of love, brother!
Hélio Fresta Thank you for watching! Dude, thanks for sharing those stories. That’s what it’s all about. And for not knowing any English while playing, holy shit, that must’ve been tough! Your English is killer now. Man, I’m loving reading through everyone’s memories.
@@616Entertainment Man, you don't even know, we spent DAYS trying to get through to Reptile's Lair, because we didn't know we had to feed enemies to the trees and didn't wanna check the internet. All games back then were like that for us, going through Resident Evil was pretty much trial and error every step of the way, even the easiest puzzle became a fucking challenge. As for other aspects of the video, I forgot to mention I disagree with you on the variations. I think they add lots of depth to the characters, you may not have all moves you want on a single variation, but they add new playstyles for all of them, you could even say it's like each character could be 3 different ones, with techniques and styles better suited to some players than others. It's a change I sure hope will carry on to MK11, and maybe some Kreate-a-Kombatant and Konquest mode, like back in Armageddon. Deception and Armageddon's Konquest both gave me some great times.
@@heliofresta2084 I respect someone loving the 3 variations gameplay design, it just wasn't for me. There really is no argument as to whether it adds depth, it certainly does, I just think for me it added a little too much depth. I found it quite intimidating and hard to determine who my favorites were. As usual I enjoyed Sub Zero, but even now I have no idea which version I enjoyed. I playeD Erron Black a lot, too, and I don't know which one it was.
@@JuanGomez-ke5py Switch has impressed me. Nintendo didn't try to make their system exactly as powerful as the other guys, but it's portable *and* more than capable of playing awesome games. They got it right this time.
Mortal Kombat is my childhood, i'm adopted and the one big memory I have with my birth parents is playing MK 2, 3 and 4 all the time. I would play with my brothers and my birth dad. I'm 26 now and as of maybe three years ago I have been reacquainted with my birth dad and we played MK together like we used it on MK9 and it was great! Cant wait for the next one. Kabal, and Reptile for life!
Dude. That series was awesome. I actually watched it in one sitting. My dad just passed away in June 2018 - 5 days before my 32nd birthday. My memories with him are not about Mortal Kombat, but all about computers and consoles in general. He was the one explaining how this stuff works on a technical level. I have vivid memories on the games that he got me from colleagues like Wolfenstein 3D (side note: this game was banned here in Germany). Funny thing: he got the game for me, we installed it and he was the one playing it for hours and hours before I even got to play it. Same thing with the SEGA Master System and the Mega Drive (Genesis). I also was playing way past bedtime and he kinda did the same thing as your dad dd: open the door and either was like "turn it off! Now!" or "Let's do one together, but then you do have to go to bed"...
We have almost the exact same memories, man. I love that. I'm sorry for your loss, but hey, we've got these excellent memories to carry with us. To our dads, dude. Much love.
Somehow youtube has recommended me to watch your MK video, watched the whole series in one sitting non stop. Great content and that ending, right in the feels. Great work. Cheers from Brazil. :)
This was a great tribute for your dad, brother. One of my earliest memories of MK was when I used to in Burbank (I'm the guy that lives in Orland) and my dad used to rent out arcade games to businesses. We had the arcade games that weren't rented out yet at our house. My brother, who passed away in '96, him and I used to go to the garage and play all the time. MK has an emotional attachment to my heart, as it's a memory of my brother. I understand where you're coming from and I'm glad this helps keep the memories alive. Keep on living for them!
100% my dude. I'm sorry to hear about your brother, man. 1996 was a long time ago, but I'm sure you know that it doesn't really get easier. We carry the memories with us every day. Much love my friend.
Brother, today was my day off and I just spent the entire time watching this series....and it was one of the best times I had! When I was a kid, I too used to have the exact same experience with my dad! "No special tricks" is what he would always tell me. Watching part 1 reminded me of my dad, and watching the end of this series really moved me. Thank you so much for this. Thank you!

Dude, thank you for these MK videos. I found the first in my recommended section and binged them over the last 2-3 days. I loved every minute. This was not only a comprehensive and insightful series of videos for those who do and don't know about MK, but it was also really great for you to share your perspective throughout the franchise's evolution. You clearly care about MK and your opinions are clear and interesting. Oh, and by the way, that final segment when you talked about your dad, beautiful. For me, I've never been a massive MK fan, but I do love the franchise for its law, characters and crazy violence. My favourite memories were playing MK1 & 2 on Sega Mega Drive and Super Nintendo with my friends and sister, I sucked at the game, but the multiplayer was always fun. :D
I find it hilarious that they released a trailer for MK11 a week after you posted this. I watched the whole series in one sitting. Was a great way to think about the past and all the great feelings MK brought to me. Sorry to hear about your dad. Actually made me tear up some. You earned yourself a sub. @@616Entertainment it must be done! Plus I believe to this days it still has the hardest tutorial ever. It wasn't until I was 18 that I finally beat it by myself. Had to call my uncle and ask him how he done it. Apparently he had found a way to cheese it 😂

As a gamer who grew up with a single mother and many siblings, I totally relate to your story of your father. My mother passed away 2 years ago and I felt your emotion when you were talking about your father. Even though I am not a superfan of the series I couldn't help binge watching all episodes. Thanks a lot man!
I have Asperger's syndrome, i never had many friends as a child, i still don't talk to people for weeks and live secluded, like a hermit, isolated, i don't know if i will kill myself, i don't look forward for much anymore, but my life was good a a child, when i was little in the late 90's early 2000's i would just watch great tv show in cartoon network, nickelodeon, cool things were on tv, but playing with my playstation was my favorite thing ever, i still have one, sadly i kinda hate my dad and he stopped being my dad years ago, but my playstation was my best friend, my father figure, my teacher, and the games i loved most and became a huge fan of was the Mortal Kombat series, the first game i played when i got my PS1 was Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero, my favorite arcade game was Mortal Kombat 4, and i played these nonstop, i used to beat MK4 with all the characters and got all the cool movies, i loved the characters, Scorpion was my favorite, i played these ultra violent games since i was 5 or 6, and i can beat all my friends in these games, the first game i played in PS2 was Mortal Kombat Deception, i was mindblown, the first time i played this next gen console was with this epic game, i was playing in a store where you pay for playing, and i paid like 30min or a full hour, and i beat the game with Kabal, i don't even like Kabal that much, i dont know why y chose him, but i kicked Onaga's butt first try, i always had such a close connection with the game that i truly felt i was the chosen one, one time i made a fatality in MK1 just by smashing buttons, it felt good, i love Mortal Kombat more than people, and i know a lot about the games, i knew everything you say in this video except for a few things, and i feel your love for it too, you remind me of me, i know you are a true fan, and i would love to play with you a little match of MK3 Hahaha, thanks for the video, i'm kinda depressed today, and weed wasn't enough, this helped

616Entertainment I just wanted to chime in and say I could relate a lot to the OP and found this exchange heartwarming. Sure, MK was the posterboy of “hyperviolent evil” in our youths and hell, it is pretty fucked up haha but this awesome, goretastic shock factor series has brought so many people with crazy 90s ninja meets slasher power fantasies together and Idk...its just cool to see something so seemingly dark/edgy/bloody means a lot to our generation and those of us with little to look forward to or a life that has reached a point of little hope, these games bring comfort like a warm blanket or childhood nostalgia and escapist extreme effects and creativity. So thank you both for these comments and thanks to 616 for this brilliant series of videos.
I wonder why so many of us feel this way this day n age, I was never diagnosed with anything, but I do the same thing, seclude myself, depression, etc....I think that modern society is the cause of why soooooo many ppl are unhappy and unfulfilled with life in general. ...
Not sure if this was mentioned yet but. Khan means "ruler" or "king" or at least it did for the Mongols and its similar to Kahn used in game. My guess is shao kahn translates to King Shao or something similar and when Kotal took over he became the new Kahn.
@@616Entertainment kotal kahn and shao kahn are related , as in mortal kombat x they say that when shao kahn died the rightful leader is kotal kahn (which indirectly means kotal kahn is the only alive son of shao kahn family) But other like quan chi , mileena , tshang tsung all of them separated because kotal kahn is not as strong as shao kahn and they all don't fear kotal kahn. So , that was also a secret of game but only few people really understood that!
Deshyant Demon Actually in the comics (which are cannon) they talk ab kotal Kahn’s father who is killed by gore when rain blocked out the sun( which in turn causes knot all to rip off torso arms)and it is possible he may be indirectly related but the odds are extremely slim of him being kin of shao Kahn

I’ve watched this series countless times and every time I get to the story about your dad I just start tearing up. We had a recent scare with my dad recently and I haven’t been able to spend time with him due to health issues I’ve had at the same time, but I’ve got so many memories of playing MK1 and 2 with him. As a parent now myself, I hope my son will have the same memories with me, whether they’re from MK or other games.
I'd shit my pants if he ever saw this, truly. Dude has no idea what he has done with this series, giving us all memories to last generations. Thank you for watching!
It's perhaps worth mentioning that you could also play as Cyber Sub-Zero in MKX. He was a hidden alt fighting style for Tri-Borg. It was kinda nice that MKX still kept up the tradition of cool hidden stuff.
I'd just like to point out that Forden's "Toasty!" has been my text message ring tone for over a year now and it has never gotten old. It can make the most mundane moments hilarious when I get a text mid conversation with someone.
I just spent my entire Sunday morning watching this series on a franchise I already know pretty much everything about haha just cause the content you did is so good. Great job man! That being said you should definitely do a video on 11& Aftermath to wrap the series up!
My favorite Mortal Kombat is when I was 9 or 11 my brother woke me up at midnight to play MK9. Me and my brother are big fans of MK and has been playing it together since MK Deception. I was Lui Kang and he was Ermac. After all those years I finally beated him and I was so happy. Then my mom came in the room and told me to go to bed and we both laughed and I went to bed.
Wow, I’m not gonna lie, I’m very far from a Mortal Kombat fan, but the heart and soul put into this docuseries sucked me in to the point where it was hard for me to stop watching and go back to the real world. Your love of this series definitely shines through in these videos and your adoration for the series helped me truly appreciate MK more than I ever thought I would. You have a new subscriber in me and I’m stoked for whatever new content you have coming out!!
Amazing production value, buddy! I was honestly never a big fan of the MK series, but I watched every episode just because they're so well made. Keep up the good work!
I appreciate that! Production values have never been my strong suit. The footage of me is from my iPhone 7 Plus and the editing is done in iMovie. I'm totally self taught, so I really appreciate your compliment.
I know I'm late to the party, but you had me weeping by the end. I AM crying, and everyone else is, too. Really touching. Loved this series! (and others!)

Seriously, enjoy your father and ask a bunch of questions. I became a father 3 weeks after my father's passing and now I have so many questions about parenting and about my youth and when I was a baby that can never be answered, bc I lost my mother 5 years ago too. I'm not try to be a downer, but enjoy your father while he is here bc b4 you know it, he won't be. Happy New Year.

God damn, I can hear the pain in your voice, I feel it man. December 1st, 2017 my dad passed away, Christmas has never been the same since. Miss playing video games with that guy. The series was fucking incredible by the way, pops would be proud brother.
I remember me and my bro playing MKII in the afternoon and dad walked it and started talking trash how on he can beat us up and he even put money on the table, it turned out that he learned the insta bicycle kick and wanted to spam it and he found out that he came to the wrong play ground playing his sons XD he lost all his money but we felt sorry and told him we don't want the money, he laughed his ass off and gave us some of the money and said go buy some pepsis let's celebrate, for no reason :D MKIIIU Ouh boy he used to drive my brother to local tournaments and cheer for him, always proud of how we can kick ass in MK. damn it every MK I can tell stories about it even the Special forces me and my friends trying to figure out how to defeat those cheap ass bosses :D but honest to God, the game that made me make a career choice back when I was 12 to being a game development is MK Subzero Mythologies, I know the game is bad but my 12 year old self was happy with that game, and with a mix of things made me the man I am today! :) MK shaped my life! :)
Zaid Al-Shaheed It really is crazy how many people are responding and telling me their MK stories. I know how cool it is for me, reading these memories you guys are sharing and knowing that I brought that nostalgia back, but imagine how Ed Boon feels! He’s the man with the plan, I wonder if he has any idea how important this series is. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it.
@@616Entertainment no problem buddy! this series you did really hit the spot, you did a fantastic job and I believe Ed Boon knows, he knows his fans and he loves them back as much as they love him, he always listen to their feedback, and adding stuff, so much interaction from a game developer and that shows that he loves his fans and made an impact.
Late to the party but man what a series. So many memories growing up with mk, lucky enough to have vivid memories of all the early games. Cherished memories and I’m so happy you have those wonderful memories with your dad. Thanks for all you do
Shaun Newport Right around the corner, just as I predicted! Hahaha. Dude, Spawn would be dope. I’m all about MK11, and I appreciate you watching. Thank you!
Fantastic series Ian! MK means so much to me as well! Each game you talked about sent me back to the time in my life where I first played it, and memories came rushing back. Not trying to write a book here, but I’ll share one memory: I’m 31, so my first foray into Mortal Kombat (aside from sporadic arcade attempts when I was too young to really know what was going on) was MK3. It had just been released on SNES and my cousin who was also 8 had somehow convinced my very religious aunt to rent it for him. I guess she didn’t know what it was. I spent the next 2 or 3 nights at his house and we played the crap out of it. Just like any 8 year olds playing MK for the first time, all we cared about were the fatalities, but we were terrible at the game! We used to set the difficulty on expert (like it made a difference) and lose on purpose hoping the computer would perform a fatality on us. Only a few times we were lucky, but I’ll never forget how happy we were when we saw Cyrax turn his head into a helicopter blade and chopped us to pieces, or got knocked a million floors down into the spikes on Kahn’s Tower. My cousin passed away a few years ago, so when you told the story about your dad, I really felt that, and I’m tearing up just writing this. I said I wouldn’t write a book, but here we are. Thank you for making this series. It is incredibly thorough, detailed, and provides excellent analysis on so many games I haven’t played in years! I look forward to your review of MK11 when it comes out. Just like you, I’ll be first in line for that motherfucker 🤘🏼😈
Hell yea, man. Those really are the best memories, aren't they? I really appreciate you sharing your story with me, and I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like your cousin was one of the good ones. Much love, my friend.

No joke bro, I got choked up before your voice even cracked towards the end. I literally watched the entire series here in one sitting. Very well done.
My favorite memories of playing MK are when my friends mom would come in and tell us lunch was ready, then she would watch us play and end it with "what the hell did I do wrong...make sure your sister has a go as well..." I believe that "Khan" is not really a name, but a title. Notice that when Mileena demands the rule over Outworld as descendant of Shao Kahn their minions refer to her as "Kahnum" (female version of the title?). She even has a costume with this name.
Corrected this in a later video.

God bless u all
My dad never played with me, but he would sit down and watch me play, he would always comment how far video games have come... Fuck I miss him
Right in the feels.
My parents were divorced. Time at home with mom meant MK on the Game Boy. Every other weekend with dad meant MK on the SNES! Life took a turn after MK3, and I missed out on a TON of the MK universe. I feel all caught up now, thx to you.

@@kennel878Xx Your gratitude made my day ♥
Dude summer of 2004 my uncle came over to visit and on the last day of visitation, he gave me with a game called Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for PS2.
Dude, what an amazing moment that must have been. Thanks for watching!

Well said.😁
When tears in heaven started playing and you started talking about your dad, knew it was gonna be heart wrenching.

Mk11 had awful music lol
That stupid music selection, tho...
Mortal Kombat is my childhood, i'm adopted and the one big memory I have with my birth parents is playing MK 2, 3 and 4 all the time. I would play with my brothers and my birth dad.
Much love.
This really is an incredible video series, well done. RIP to your dad.
Somehow youtube has recommended me to watch your MK video, watched the whole series in one sitting non stop. Great content and that ending, right in the feels. Great work. Cheers from Brazil. :)
Obrigado!
Just had the same experience. Your dad is still playing MK and he'll have a controller for you when it's time.

Sharing memories and reading through everyone else's stories is the best part. Thank you for watching!
I find it hilarious that they released a trailer for MK11 a week after you posted this. I watched the whole series in one sitting. As a gamer who grew up with a single mother and many siblings, I totally relate to your story of your father. My mother passed away 2 years ago and I felt your emotion when you were talking about your father. It's really unbelievable how our (many times hardworking) parents do their best to accomodate their children, to care for them and try to do the best they can. Thank you for an amazing series of MK.

Yea this has been brought to my attention. Clearly I don't know my history of Mongols, hahaha. I should call Dan Carlin. Thanks for watching!
There is a mistake
@@616Entertainment kotal kahn and shao kahn are related , as in mortal kombat x they say that when shao kahn died the rightful leader is kotal kahn (which indirectly means kotal kahn is the only alive son of shao kahn family)
But other like quan chi , mileena , tshang tsung all of them separated because kotal kahn is not as strong as shao kahn and they all don't fear kotal kahn. So , that was also a secret of game but only few people really understood that!
Deshyant Demon
Actually in the comics (which are cannon) they talk ab kotal Kahn’s father who is killed by gore when rain blocked out the sun( which in turn causes knot all to rip off torso arms)and it is possible he may be indirectly related but the odds are extremely slim of him being kin of shao Kahn

Fantastic series Ian! MK means so much to me as well! Each game you talked about sent me back to the time in my life where I first played it, and memories came rushing back. Not trying to write a book here, but I’ll share one memory:
I’m 31, so my first foray into Mortal Kombat (aside from sporadic arcade attempts when I was too young to really know what was going on) was MK3.
