  • Here is an inexpensive way to lock in your drill press vise using a bicycle quick release cam ($5). This great idea came to me from, "spftt Reale", thank you!

    Isn't it interesting that the people who make the vises haven't thought about this before? This is a great idea!

      @@gfotinakes316 Thank you George for your interesting letter. In a way we are neighbours by origine. Here in Serbia we are lock-down this week and probably it will be continued. It is terrible to be spending time at home and my basement as my workshop. Now I am a pensioner and hobbyist. I like process wood. I would like to know where do you live in USA? Keep away from Covid and if it is possible receive Covid vaccine.By profession I am a MD and 40 years I was in the medical practice. Have a good time. Greetings from Serbia.Franjo(Frank)

      @@sharpyfk Thank you for your note Franjo. I too am on a pension. I was a middle school science and woodshop teacher for 40 years. My wife and I live in southern California. We live about 15 minutes from Disneyland and 18 minutes from the warm Pacific ocean. We too have been mostly in our home for 1 year. We do go out for rides in the car and on my bike. Stores have set up senior hours so we could stay safe from a lot of people. My wife and I were both able to get our second Moderna vaccination and feel very blessed to have some degree of immunity. We still mask and stay 6 feet away from people. Our county of 3.3 million people has put over 1 million vaccinations into arms in the last 5-6 weeks. We still have a large portion of the population that believes the vaccinations are silly and will not take them. This has been the strangest year in my life. The Pandemic was bad enough but our people politically lost trust in one another. It is not good to be away from other humans too long without someone to buffer your ideas. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter (if you are Christian) or a wonderful spring and summer.

    Did you have to cut the rod and tap a thread on the end?

    • @gfotinakes316
      @gfotinakes316  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the thread was already there from the bike seat attachment. Does that make sense?

      You can get quick releases for bike seats for about $4 each.

    LOL, poor man's "floating vice". The new manufactured versions of floating vice can cost for $300. I wish I had seen this video before I purchased $40 worth of magswitchs to do a similar thing.

      Take a look at my magswitch bandsaw fence. Maybe you can still get some use out of those magnets!
