- Dark Spyro and Gnasty Gnorc seem to be showing up everywhere, so today I ask the question, Could Dark Spyro Be in the New Spyro 4? Since Spyro Reignited Trilogy we have been begging for a new spyro game, and Dark Spyro might be involved in some way. Let's Talk About it!

Spyro vs Dark Spyro.

In the first game Gnasty turns gems warriors right?
Well when he was defeated gems are left behind from him as well. And we saw his lair in the loot level. Maybe he sent a gem turned copy of himself to fight Spyro while he actually escapes to somewhere else?? 🤔
I would love to see Dark Spyro as an evil version counterpart of Spyro from another different dimension as a new villain in Spyro 4 as a new Spyro game into the future.
I don't know. But I could imagine that. What do you guys think? 🙂

Gnasty Gnorc needs a second chance at being a villain. We most likely did not even defeated the real Gnasty in the first game! He only need two hits to defeat unlike every other boss fight in the games. He turned into gems as well. That was apart of his spell if you remember. It was a copy of himself made with the gem spell. But that is just a game theory.
well he actually got a second chance in Spyro A Hero`s Tail.

It would make a lot of sense, especially if we got crystal dragons back, for Gnasty to be the main villain. I think you were on the right track with Dark being a manifestation of Gnasty's hatred, maybe using magic he got from Ripto?
Well, if he would’ve gotten it from Ripto, wouldn’t it make sense that he would have to be a part of the villainous team for Spyro 4 as well
(Edit): also wouldn’t make even more sense that he’d get the magic from The Sorceress instead of Ripto? She is more skilled in Magic than Ripto.
Working with Beenox is definitely an interesting tidbit, since realistically all they’d need is TFB for Crash.

I would’ve loved a team up between Gnasty, Ripto, and the Sorceress. But. When you think about it. It’s conceivable that Gnasty is the only one of those three that’s still alive. Since he’s the only one who didn’t take a lava bath. So I think he’s coming back. ;)

Isn’t Gnasty dead too tho?? I mean, he exploded in a shower of gems at the end of the original game…however, the end of Spyro 3 suggests both he AND Ripto are alive. It’s sort of confusing.

@@dragonfye1 The cutscene after gnasty's loot kinda implied Gnasty is alive as well, he did turn the dragons into crystal again. They just never followed up on that in the sequels.

I wouldn't mind if we see Dark Spyro or not but I'm excited to see what Beenox does to expand on Gnasty Gnorc's character.
Convexity (or Aether), may become an important factor in the next game as well. Convexity was the magical element that was used by Spyro in Eternal Night and Dawn of the Dragon (Cynder used it as well). Dark Spyro also seemed to have used it in Skylanders Academy and in the Skylander games, but I don't believe it was ever confirmed to be Convexity. I am saying this because I saw the symbol for the element on one of the flags in Crash On the Run (the flags seem to switch between an image of Dark Spyro's head and the Convexity symbol).
Convexity was also a name for a realm in Spyro: A New Beginning (it was the realm you fought Cynder in). Ignitus in the game described it as "an airlock between our world and the Dark Realms beyond."
Perhaps Dark Spyro is saying "free at last" in Crash On the Run because he was freed from the Realm of Convexity (or Portal of Convexity as it is said in Spyro: A New Beginning). In a way it would be reflecting what happened in Spyro: A New Beginning, with Cynder freeing the Dark Master (Malefor) from the Portal of Convexity. Maybe Gnasty Gnorc is the one who freed Dark Spyro, and that is why we see him with Dark Spyro often.
Anyway, this idea is a bit of a stretch. The symbol for Convexity could just be an easter egg in Crash On the Run for The Legend of Spyro fans. I figured I would point it out though, since I haven't seen anyone else point it out yet and it seems connected to Dark Spyro (unless I missed your comment, which if I did I'm sorry). Sorry for the long comment, and thanks for reading!
Believe it or not Activisions planned back story for malefor was for him to be classic spyro all grown up, but was corrupted by the dark aether. Activision decided not to go this route as it world upset classic spyro fans.

Yeah, I'd defiantly like to see Dark Spyro in Spyro 4 along with Centaurs including a new Centaur Princess character that will give Elora a run for her money, new worlds, levels, characters and concepts, the return of some of my personal favorites like Spyro's other elemental powers because of my love for the Legend of Spyro Trilogy and the ability to fly freely anywhere.

I love how Dark Spyro survived the pass of time, from Legend of Spyro until Crash on the Run.
Also I'm surprised that they turned him into a separate entity like a clone of him, rather than Spyro's dark side taking control.
So, with that mindset, I think he will become a new enemy in the future.
Heck, I even *speculate* that they find a way to add him, maybe like a lost twin, failed spell, recreation from his DNA, or even an ALTERNATE WORLD!

I like the idea of Gnasty Gnorc escaped and send a copy of himself (because of the gems). Now he is teaming up with Dark Spyro with a spell.

Wait, so it seems like Gnasty Gnorc and Dark Spyro are working together. Gnasty is from the classic games, and Dark Spyro is probably most well known for his appearance in Skylanders. I think that in Spyro 4, they could have three villains, in reference to the three eras of Spyro's history. The final boss, and the villain that has currently not been revealed yet, would be Malefor (But it could also be the corrupted version of Cinder that was the final boss of the first Legends game). Either way, they are saving the design for a big reveal when Spyro 4 comes out.
All of this makes a lot of sense. God, I hope we get more Spyro content soon

Spyro goes through some mirror-split//alternate dimension rift//Gnorc spell that splits him to cause an Evil Spyro to appear.
I prefer when your dark side isn't something you can just punch out, but have to actually dance with, and MASTER, prove you're stronger than the animal.
This is a great speculation video and all but I forgot to defeat Dark Spyro’s Gang in Crash Bandicoit on the Run. God, I wish I did.
I don't think Dark Spyro would be Spyro's twin otherwise he'd have his own name, I agree with the idea that Dark Spyro could be an evil version of Spyro from a dimension of evil dragons in this continuity.

The Skylanders version of Dark Spyro is based on his appearance in the Game Boy Advance version of Eternal Night which went on to be used in CTR Nitro Fuled onwards.
I don't know if he will or won't, but it would be cool if he did- it would be awesome to see Dark Spyro in the Classic timeline
I like your theory on Dark Spyro and how Gnasty would be brought back in Spyro 4. I would love to see Dark Spyro being created through some magic of another wizard or being set free from a magic portal or mirror, it would be cool that Toys For Bob make it happen.......

I like the sound of this Hydra dragon character as the new lead villain in a new Spyro 4 game.
Perhaps Dark Spyro could be a minion of Hydra dragon?
As well as Hydra (a multi-headed dragon), perhaps some other types of dragons could be introduced as well, such as wingless dragons, dragons with extra wings, dragons with extra tails, and so on.
They could literally pull a trick from Soul Calibur 6's book from one of the fighter's stories (Spoilers down below for Soul Calibur 6 and Cassandra's Story)

So the story of Soul Calibur 6 is that it is an alternate timeline from the original mainline which ended at Soul Calibur 5... but one DLC fighter named Cassandra ends up fighting a darker version of herself who is actually the Cassandra of the mainline Soul Calibur series but she was corrupted by the evil sword Soul Edge.

In other words, for the creation of Dark Spyro, it would be a version of Spyro that ended up like Cynder.. a corrupt version himself that proved too much where he was unable to control the power and it took over. Spyro's timeline isn't exactly consistent since the Dark Spyro wasn't a thing until the Legend of Spyro Games and Dark Crystals didn't exist until a Hero's Tail which also had Gnasty Gnorc involved but as a bit part (and literally the first boss you fight)
To put on the speculating cap, it may be possible that the Dark Spyro could be from either two timelines.. the Legend of Spyro timeline but he was unable to control his power.. or from a Hero's Tail where Gnasty Gnorc uses the power of the Dark Crystals to turn Spyro evil and the two go on a spree of controlling the other timelines.. and go after the mainline Spyro since it is the only version of Spyro that hasn't been corrupted or influenced by anything.
.....Or they could make something totally different that might surprise us.

Here is my speculation for the plot of Spyro 4:
Gnasty Gnorc frees (or creates) Dark Spyro, as a way to destroy the Spyro as we all know and love.
That's some interesting speculation and you really make good points. I had wondered myself why Ripto wasn't in CTR. And it is kinda strange that they would put a Spyro toy on a skateboard (reminiscent of Spyro 3) when Gnasty Gnorc wasn't associated with that. And many toy companies do try to get on the ball ahead of gaming schedules. Definitely interesting! I honestly don't even care what the situation is. I just want to see a new game made. :)

Dark Spyro, Redd, Malifor…honestly, I’d be okay with any of these villains being worked into the story… as long as it’s done well. I kind of like the idea of Spyro going head to head with another dragon.

Maybe Gnasty uses a spell to separate Spyro's evil side from his good side. Dark Spyro says "Free at last!" because he is no longer held back by his good side.
Crash 4: It’s about time was about Crash traveling to different dimensions. I wouldn’t be surprise if Spyro 4 had somewhat a similar concept too. Spyro switching both to his dimension and dark dimension to get collectibles to fight dark Spyro. Somewhat similar concept to Shadow Legacy.
When it says dark Spyro was trapped, I think that means that he was trapped in one of gnasty gnorc’s crystals, but is mad at Spyro for not freeing him. That is why he and gnasty gnorc are together, as payback for what gnasty did to dark Spyro. Taking out his new adversary.
Edit- by payback, I mean sort of a repayment like, if you help me, I won’t harm you.
I also think this will be the plot for the next game. As a lot of other commenters have pointed out, gnasty turns to gems so Spyro one gnasty May have been a gem copy of himself.

If we do get a repeat villain, I just hope they do a better job of explaining how they survived their first battle with Spyro (UNLIKE how ETD handled it’s reuse of Ripto) for example we see Red get taken prisoner at the end of a Hero’s Tail and he returned in Shadow Legacy, the fallowing year on the DS... but we see Gnasty turn to a puff of smoke at the end of Spyro 1... how would he have survived? (Same question I had when I saw him in a Hero’s Tail, now I just say “game logic” Another example : Malefore comes into the Skylanders franchise (Hex battled him... that’s how she became undead) and befriending Spyro and Cynder was the start to her coping with her trauma from battling Malefore... but in the comic “Return of the Undead Dragon King” she’s clearly still struggling to come to terms with her trauma and from what she says she’s got PTSD... (I have it too, trust me, it’s no joke when you’re locked in a mental loop watching your trauma replay over and over again like the WORST parts of an extremely disturbing horror movie) (mine isn’t nearly that bad don’t worry about me, but Hex’s definitely is and she’s doing the WORST thin you can do in that situation : bottling it all up and trying to pretend that she’s fine rather than talking to someone who can help her, which Spyro tries to do)

Hopefully if Spyro 4 does come out I personally expect if a Hodgepodge of Spyro memorabilia from all games (except enter the Chernobyl nuclear site ) or at least more references then anyone can count
@@kirtheweasel oh I don’t hate it I just like joking about how it really didn’t land as a proper sequel to Spyro Chernobyl is the closest thing I can think off that started good then crashed (in the public’s eyes anyway ) like the expectations this game made when it was announced all those years ago

1 •What if in a Spyro title, you'd have to "fight" a different 'take of Gnasty Gnorc?
-Where; Spyro would be facing an *Older* Gnorc King? Like, where, time has actually passed a little. (...?)
2 •[Please, bare with me on this idea].
What if- in _some_ "challenge rooms"- you'd have to tussle with a few different versions of a "shadow Spyro"?
~All that I am thinking of are the "Shadow Mario" levels in the 3D Super Mario games. Starting with Super Mario Galaxy; to the best of my knowledge. ■Where in these levels; there would be these enchanted "precious stones" that could bring Spyro's shadow to life. □Look; I'll admit that I can not think of an "innovating" way to make the gameplay... * entertaining. But, it could be a little odd to play test.

I wanna see the cancelled Skylanders show continue from where it left off! More Spyro and More Dark Spyro! Netflix! Make this happen!
If they do add Dark Spyro in Spyro 4 as his own character, I hope that they DON'T go about it in any of the following ways:
1. Having him just show up out of nowhere as an obligatory evil double for Spyro to fight. That would just make him the Spyro equivalent of Fake Crash for all intents and purposes.
2. Make him some sort of filler boss with no real story significance (akin to Dark Link in Ocarina Of Time)
3. Make him just an 'evil Spyro' with no motivation for being evil other than for its own sake. I want Dark Spyro to be VENGEFUL about something, be it related to Spyro himself or just something that happened in his past. A villain who is evil for evil's sake is NOT a compelling villain.
Red The Evil Dragon needs a second chance at being a main villain.

I wouldn't mind seeing Crush and Gulp becoming allies and betraying Ripto.
I actually had a idea that Gnasty Gnorc could return as antagonist in Crash 4. He is the only villain we know tha haven't died at end of their game like Ripto and Sorceress, even returning as a boss in Hero's Tail. It's possible that after the first game he was banished even further from Dragon Realms, and where he planned a new revenge scheme involving creating a Dark version of Spyro, as a way of getting rid of purple dragon so he can have his revenge for banishing him. Dark Spyro however forces Gnorc to become his sidekick and uses him in order to become the only Spyro dragon in exsitance.

Late to the party. But I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Spyro 4. I got my 6 yr old niece into playing it (Reignited since I couldn't get my PS1 to work). So it....REIGNITED...my love for the series.
Maybe they could come up with a backstory about how Dark Spyro came to be. Maybe someone used some magic to make a doppelganger?

Why not Dark Spyro the first boss, then Crush and Gulp, and then Ripto, Gnasty Gnorc and the Sorceress as the final bosses in an epic battle to free the unicorns
Gnasty and Dark Spyro teaming up seems very plausible. I also think that if Gnasty had the ability to turn gems into warriors, then he would no doubt have the ability to create an entity like Dark Spyro. I do feel that Dark Spyro might end up betraying Gnasty halfway through the plot. Hard to say whether he'll usurp Gnasty as the main villain or perhaps instead team up with Spyro.
I'm a sonic fan and I think this would be cool. Someone to rival spyro.

Regarding this new evidence, here’s an idea for you :
What if all the past Villains from Spyro’s adventures start working together, but with Dark Spyro using them like puppets ?!?!?
Dark Spyro is, in a lot of ways, much like Nemesis Prime from the Transformers. He is the negative, the evil, the corrupted form of Spyro, perhaps given life by one of the Professors experiments going wrong.
Also, should Spyro and Dark Spyro come face to face in the new game, both must be voiced by Tom Kenny. Dark Spyro’s voice would be the same, but he’d sound cockier and more condescending than Hero Spyro.

We did technically see Gnasty again later in the series. Anyone remember A Hero's Tail? I do, it was my favorite game on the PS2, and I still have my original copy.
I know Spyro 4 was Enter the Dragonfly originally, and AHT was No. 5 in the series. But EtD wasn't well-received, and AHT was much better in that respect. So what if they're remaking AHT instead of EtD?

Maybe see Crush & Gulp returns maybe as 2 playable characters, speaking, betray and turn themselves back to the good side. There’s still good on them I know that.

Only Spyro himself, his best friend Sparx and his friends and heroic allies will be side playable characters in every Spyro games. No offense.

What about the future of Cynder
I rather would like to see Gnasty Gnorc teaming up with Ripto, who uses a spell to create Dark Spyro who was sent as an impostor to havoc some chaos among the dragons. What would make real Spyro sus, and chasing Dark Spyro, who would act as a bait. BUT Dark Spyro would free himself somehow... Gosh, I'm overthinking this.
But it would be a shame if a mobile game would be some sort of evidence for this imo.

Hello happy belated Father's Day! Will there be a reveal any time soon on spyro the dragon 4?
The portal with dark crystals looks pretty much like the petrified darkness and its containers in Skylanders Swap Force, probably has nothing to do since the franchise was sadly forgotten, but the artstyle and all looks pretty similar to it
What if Dark Spyro, is born out of the Dark/Evil side of Spyro and Gnasty Gnorc cast a spell from his Villainous lair and it hits Spyro and it separates his dark/evil side from his light/good side. Dark Spyro could either be the Penultimate Boss fought before Gnasty Gnorc or he could be the Final Boss fought after Gnasty Gnorc is defeated. If we die fighting against him as Spyro and we lose our last life then Dark Spyro takes over The good Spyro's body and Spyro becomes evil and then it shows a Game Over cutscene. Either that or if we don't fight Dark Spyro as Spyro, then Spyro gets his Body taken over by Dark Spyro and we are playing as Spyro's friends and we have to defeat him in order to save Our Spyro from being turned evil and lost forever?
As you stated, they said they also looked at fan sites and content. As much as it would be interesting, I kinda hope they don’t go down that route just because it sounds… bad? Don’t get me wrong, would still play it, but I’d rather it be a completely different dragon, such as Cynder or Red, over Dark Spyro. Having Gnasty come back too wouldn’t be too bad, like I’ve said before, A Hero’s Tail is there and would make for great base to build a new game from, have Gnasty as the primary villain or as a duo, have some evil dragon like Red bring him back in for another run, have a dark version of Spyro, but make it a character more based off of Cynder in design and stuff and not call it Dark Spyro, lol.
If they do have Dark Spyro.. I kind of don't want his name to be that?? Like maybe they had a portal opened and this is like an alternate version of Spyro himself. Perhaps that Spyro was seen as a threat and sealed away and it brought on a darkness to this Spyro. Oryps(could be his name just Spyro backwards). Maybe Gnasty Gnorc freed Oryps and agreed to help him take over this world for having set him free. Thus why Oryps has a disliking for other dragons of his own kind. Maybe his clan shut him away and that's why he agreed so easily to help Gnasty Gnorc? Perhaps Oryps plans on double crossing Gnasty Gnorc later on. How ever I think it would be cool if form that same dimension Oryps was brought from, Cynder was included???? or maybe something like that??? Just stretching out ideas at this point. But yeah! I think it would be interesting to see Dark Spyro or Oryps in a game rather he's is own thing or not.
OR maybe an other idea-- Spyro has something happen to him and maybe the beginning of the game you can't play as Spyro because he's the villain and his friends go to save/stop him and get him back. and Spyro coming back a bit later is cursed with this dark spell casted on him which causing him to have a temperament and loss control and then you can play as that dark version of him for a short burst. All the while he's making his way to Gnasty Gnorc to stop him and end the curse/spell that was casted over him.
Oh definitely yes I agree, they should add Dark Spyro

I'm not sure if there's enough for them to go off of with Dark Spyro being a villain, but I'm not necessarily against it either! I would LOVE to see Gnasty resurface though. He got done dirty, and even in the reignited trilogy with all those love letters, inspirational posters, etc, it felts as if the devs really wanted to build on him more, even if that was all just jokes.
