PRACHTIG ! BIG like 217 Een fijn weekend gewenst van Fons.
alweer een prachtige "oldie" ...gisteren opnieuw repetitie gehad met mijn "oldies" band, en als drummer is het natuurlijk veel leuker in mijn andere band (blues) maar die "oldies" blijven toch wel hun charme hebben.
Isle of Capri... Huh? Nooit van gehoord, tot we op "start" drukten! Toen kwamen de herinneringen. Natuurlijk kennen wij de song, maar waren de titel vergeten. Big thumbs UP van ons, goede vriend. Het was een genoegen op deze zonnige(!) dag in Oostenrijk. Jouke en Edith.
Good Afternoon Eric, a beautiful tune which I haven't heard before. The rendition is expertly played as always along with your backing track. Thank you for sharing. Hope you and family are all well and healthy. Take care and stay safe. 👍👍🎼🎶🎸🎸🎸🎹🥁🎻❤❤
Great Job! - I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful island of Capri. However it almost never happened. In the latter part of the 1980's I was an Aviation Electronic's Technician in the U.S. Navy. I served on a total of 3 aircraft carriers throughout my enlistment. During one of our overseas trips (late1987) our ship made a port of call in Naples, Italy; our departure originated from Norfolk, Virginia. We were to remain in the Mediterranean Sea for nearly six months. While in Naples I was supposed to go on an organized bus trip to visit Rome. However it was cancelled at the last minute. I was pretty upset. It was early in the morning so I decided to take a trip by myself to the Isle of Capri. I'm not entirely sure but I think that I was the only one from our ship to visit the island that day. Not bad considering that there were nearly 5,000 others assigned to it. While on the island I had lunch at a very quaint and small restaurant. From the outside it didn't look too impressive. it was a different story though on the inside. On the walls there were a lot of pictures of very famous people that ate there. Yes, Frank Sinatra was one of them. I'm positive though that he didn't fly to the island on a private jet because there's no airport. I would've loved to see the yacht that he used to get there, lol! Because I wasn't familiar with this song I looked up some song facts about it. I watched a Sinatra lyric video and I was immediately flooded with so many great memories after reading these lyrics. While in Cannes, France I met a girl 1 year younger than myself. We corresponded by letter for a long time. Even today I still think of her from time to time. I'm flattering myself a bit because meeting her totally reminded me of the Carey Grant movie, To Catch a Thief (1955). The entire movie was filmed in the French Riviera. Some of the key places were in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Nice, and Cannes. I also visited Monte Carlo, and Nice. While in Nice a tour guide pointed out an estate that belonged to the Material Girl herself, Madonna. She was born in Bay City, Michigan. I currently live 70 miles South of there. When I was in Monte Carlo I learned about the death of Grace Kelly and the story behind it. In the movie there's a scene of her and Carey Grant swimming in the Bay of Cannes. In the background you can see the world famous Carlton Hotel. Elton John also filmed the video for I'm Still Standing here. The Carlton can be seen as well. When I was there I took some photos of it. Besides the world famous casino in Monte Carlo there are some other key places of interest to check out. One of them is the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. It's also referred to as the Jacques Cousteau Museum. He spent many years in Monte Carlo. As a sidenote here's another interesting story. In Autumn of 1988 I once again deployed overseas on a different aircraft carrier. We made a port of call in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. While there I was able to get a 48 hour shore leave pass. I traveled by train to vist a friend in Plon, Germany. (I couldn't get an Umlaut over the O in Plon). While visiting we were listening to music on his FM radio. A disc jockey announced that U2 had a new song and he then played it. The song was, Desire. Have you ever done a cover of Billy Joel's song Scenes From An Italian Restaurant?
Hi Eric, I was pleased to read about some of your stays in Europe. In this way you have been able to see a lot of places in the world. Very impressive. As for the part about Billy Joel's song, I'll have to listen carefully first, because playing a song from Billy Joel is not easy ( he's a piano player..LOL ). I still have a very large list of request numbers to complete and will see what I can do in the future. As I am recovering from cancer I am busy playing the songs that are not too difficult for me. Thank you very much for your nice message. Take care...Eric
@@STUDIOCHINCHAN I hope that you make a full recovery! The big C stinks. Yeah, that Billy Joel song is pretty much a ballad with not too much going on other than Billy Joel singing and performing on the keys. I'm not sure why but for many years I never cared for that song. In 1980 his album Glass Houses was released. My mom purchased the 8-track tape for me. I remember watching a biography about him a long time ago. He was a bit of a rebel and had some anger issues. He even belonged to a gang but they weren't violent. If you look at the album cover of Glass Houses he's about to throw a rock at the windows. Even in art he displayed anger, lol!. I forgot to mention another pretty cool story when our ship was in Cannes, France. Wayne Newton and his band came aboard our aircraft carrier and performed a concert for us in the hangar bay. It was very good. He had a lot jokes to share as well.
Hi Eric, Another super performance, very well played with a lovely sound and harmonies. Thumbs up. Haven't hears this in quite a while. Take Care and Keep Safe. Best Wishes, David
Hi Eric, Your rendition of this lovely old classic is wonderful. I particularly liked the guitar harmonies, but the whole thing was beautiful. It was a pleasure to listen and to see you play. Best wishes, James
Hi Eric, Isles Of Capri is a new one to me and much before my time. It's a smooth and rhythmic song and played so beautifully. I sure did enjoy every moment of the song. Lovely tone and BT. Have a good time the rest of the week and stay safe. Will be there at the next post. Bye!!
Congratulations friend, beautiful interpretation and a great backtrack. This song takes me back to my childhood when the Billy Vaughn Orchestra recorded this song on a 78 rpm record
Hi-Eric Today, I don't know this song, but it's a wonderful and beautiful song, and your playing rhythm and guitar sound are very wonderful. But thank you for your soothing feelings. 🎸🎸🎸 The Winter Olympics are in the middle of Beijing right now 😃 I'm glad to see the players from my country playing an active part 😃 I'm Japan 🇯🇵🗾 Thank you.
