    Every line pilot should get checked out in this thing before being hired - maybe then we wouldn't have so much stick and rudder abuse or lack of hands on skill in the industry! Thanks for the flight, I loved every second of it.

    It was one of if not the best WW1 plane, this was also noted by the Allies who demanded that every Fokker needed to be scrapped with the manufacturing tools. Anthony Fokker (who was Dutch) smuggled most of it on trains out of Germany to the Netherlands.
    The synchronizing was invented by a Frenchman, but they didn’t get it working, Fokker was the first who made it work.
    The reason he was in Germany was because he was not taken serious by the Dutch Government and was almost forced to bankruptcy, the Germans saw the potential of his planes and took him in with open arms. During the interbellum, history repeated itself, although now it was the US who took him in, he did deliver some G1’s just before the war, but it was to late and not enough to have an impact. Anthony Fokker died in New York just before war of a mistreated infection.

      The D.VII was the Fokker aircraft specifically mentioned in the Armistice between Imperial Germany and the entente / allies
      "Four - Surrender in good condition by the German armies of the following war material: Five thousand guns (2,500 heavy, and 2,500 field), 25,000 machine guns, 3,000 minenwerfer, 1,700 airplanes (fighters, bombers - firstly, all of the D 7'S and all the night bombing machines). The above to be delivered in situ to the allied and United States troops in accordance with the detailed conditions laid down in the note (annexure No. 1) drawn up at the moment of the signing of the armistice"
      The D.VIII was fairly forward thinking but the decision to equip it with a lethargic rotary engine hampered its ability to fight more capable allied fighters that were omnipresent by summer 1918

    Beautiful DVIII, and very nice flying/video!, but PLEASE ... it's pronounced FAH-KER, not FOE-KER! Don't mean to be petty, but that makes me crazy!, especially from real aviation enthusiasts such as yourself. VERY NICE regardless! BEST!!!

      Sorry, but FOE-KER is much closer to correct than FAH-KER. The best I could describe it to an English speaker is like the pronunciation of the first 'O' in the exclamation Oh-oh!
