I never understood why coming fresh off the Night of Hunters Tour, Tori didn't include many of these entire new interpretations on Gold Dust. She did reconstructed versions of Suede, iieee, Cruel, Big Wheel, Spark, Spring Haze, Caught a Lite Sneeze, and a few more I'm not thinking of. It would have been really cool to hear them in big studio versions, but instead we got mostly songs that already had an orchestrated backing.
I'm trying to imagine this from Tori's POV: the NOH tour was arranged for string quartet. I think the main selling point of Gold Dust was that she was recording with the Metropole Orkest, specifically, who were struggling financially at the time, if I'm not mistaken. So the NOH arrangements wouldn't have worked.
That's a good point. The design mostly focused on a quartet, so translating it would have been more difficult than just grabbing the old music sheets for songs like Cloud on My Tongue. There was also a time crunch it seems. I'm not sure when the album was specifically recorded, but it had to have been some time between Janurary 2012 - June 2012. Editing and mastering is already a difficult task, but doing that for an orchestra is ridiculously hard and time consuming. Whatever the reason, I wish we could have had some of the same experimentation that we saw in Flavor, utilized on other songs from her catalog. However, I do still love the album :D
I'm a big fan of those last few measures where shes says "why does there have to be a sacrifice. Nice choice for melody/instrument in my opinion. Happy Halloween :P
With your E's And your ease And I do one more Need a lip gloss boost In your america Is it God's Is it your's Sweet saliva With your E's And your ease And I do one more I know we're dying And there's no sign of a parachute We scream in catherdrals Why can't it be beautiful Why does there Gotta be a sacrifice Just say yes You little arsonist You're so sure you can save Every hair on my chest Just say yes You little arsonist With your E's And your ease And I do one more Well I know we're dying And there's no sign of a parachute In this Chapel Little chapel of love Can't we get a little grace And some elegance No we scream in cathedrals Why can't it be beautiful Why does there Gotta be a sacrifice
YOU should have been the creator of Gold Dust, so much better work than anything on GD. Don't get me wrong, GD is good as it is, but it's definitely not very interesting, especially with the inclusion of Midwinter Graces songs, instead of classical renditions of her electronic songs.

Hi Yanta, this is amazing work! Where would I find this sheet music for my quartet to play?
Any chance you’ll do the 1998 live sessions version?

With your E's
And your ease
And I do one more
Need a lip gloss boost
In your america
Is it God's
Is it your's
Sweet saliva
With your E's
And your ease
And I do one more
I know we're dying
And there's no sign of a parachute
We scream in catherdrals
Why can't it be beautiful
Why does there
Gotta be a sacrifice
Just say yes
You little arsonist
You're so sure you can save
Every hair on my chest
Just say yes
You little arsonist
With your E's
And your ease
And I do one more
Well I know we're dying
And there's no sign of a parachute
In this Chapel
Little chapel of love
Can't we get a little grace
And some elegance
No we scream in cathedrals
Why can't it be beautiful
Why does there
Gotta be a sacrifice
Gorgeous. Did you do this with an electric keyboard or collab with actual strings musicians!? Either way I'm impressed.
Thanks! It's this sample library: www.cinematicstudioseries.com/solo-strings.html
