I am captivated by the way you've shown a genuine interest and capacity in cracking the "Norwegian code" but I think you definitely have. :) Og norsken din er fullstendig upåklagelig! What I, as a Norwegian, always use to accurately determine a foreigners nationality is the tone of how they speak Norwegian (tonefall), such as the Dutch, Germans, Americans, etc., but you nailed that as well. I cannot at all hear that you are an American from your pronunciation.... Impressive! Thanks for sharing this. :)

18:04 Wow, I'm impressed how good you have adopted even the "melody" of the language. No accent to speak of! It's the most difficult part of learning a foreign language after the age of 12-14 I think. When you learn to speak quicker you would pass as Norwegian in most if not all situations.

While their dad was working 07-1500. So when he got home around 16-1700 it was dinnertime. Than rest time for dad,while the kids were playing outside. Though times have changed. Somehow the dinnertime has stayed the same.

In terms of the language: You provably learned normative Norwegian when taking your language course. However, when we speak to each other, there are so many different dialects involved, and they can range from being very different to quite similar to the normative Norwegian. That said, from the Norwegian I heard you speak in the video, it sounds like you've lived in Norway at least half your life! Hope you get the opportunity to visit again. Seems like you enjoyed Norway!

I have never in my life ever met a norwegian person eating hamburger with fork and knife. I thought norwegians eat with hand for everything pretty much? All the ppl I know eat most foods like Pizza, Hamburger, cake, taco, chicken and more with our hands.

You are so right, we eat dinner early, but maybe its caused by the daylight we get during winter or something. Im guessing here. Dinner is not our last meal during a day, we have something called kveldsmat also. This translates to "evening meal". This is a lighter meal we have closer to bedtime. The typical choises of an "evening meal" would be something similar to breakfast. For example, two slices of bread with toppings.

I'm german and understood about 20-30%. Sometimes it is much easier to understand not the natives but somebody who learned the language. I like this channel becuae I get so many chances to listen to foreign languages. Sometimes I can pick up a few words and so I get the chance to hear the other languages structure odr vocabulary. THX.
The rice pudding you get in Norway (including the Rislunsj) may be my favourite dessert. Also, I can relate to cottage cheese as a treat, though with me it was cottage cheese + jam.
Also, by the way, rice porridge with sugar, cinnamon, and butter is my all-time favourite comfort food. In fact, I try to uphold the Norwegian tradition of having it for dinner every Saturday :).

But yes, technically we became a a independent country on the 7th of June 1905, since we didn't become a de jure part of Germany with the capitulation agreement of 1940 *assuming* that this was a capitulation of our army and *not* our goverment (the Norwegian point of view and a part of our argument about why our goverment is legitemate). Basically if we assume that the capitulation was of the state then our fighting alongside the Brits against Germany would be against Norwegian and international law, while if it was just a limited military capitulation then our goverment in excile still remained legitemate and we remained in a state of war till the end of the world war.

Everyone speak English in Norway, BUT if you speak Norwegian you completely change status. You go from just "being a foreigner" to be "One of us". Now you are able to connect "the deep friendship", which as you already know is something different, it`s more ike a covenant of loyality. My goodness, your norwegian is awesome. I have never in my life ever met a norwegian person eating hamburger with fork and knife. I thought norwegians eat with hand for everything pretty much? All the ppl I know eat most foods like Pizza, Hamburger, cake, taco, chicken and more with our hands.

You are so right, we eat dinner early, but maybe its caused by the daylight we get during winter or something. Im guessing here. Dinner is not our last meal during a day, we have something called kveldsmat also. This translates to "evening meal". This is a lighter meal we have closer to bedtime. The typical choises of an "evening meal" would be something similar to breakfast. For example, two slices of bread with toppings.

Sometimes it is much easier to understand not the natives but somebody who learned the language.
I like this channel becuae I get so many chances to listen to foreign languages. Sometimes I can pick up a few words and so I get the chance to hear the other languages structure odr vocabulary. THX.

The rice pudding you get in Norway (including the Rislunsj) may be my favourite dessert.
Also, I can relate to cottage cheese as a treat, though with me it was cottage cheese + jam.
Also, by the way, rice porridge with sugar, cinnamon, and butter is my all-time favourite comfort food.
In fact, I try to uphold the Norwegian tradition of having it for dinner every Saturday :).
Iam from Cyprus and i was in beautiful Pakistan for 3 months and it was so lovely! The north area of Pakistan is more beautiful than Switzerland!!! LOve shangrila resort,Skardu and i ate the rice pudding in my life!!!

But our independence day is a different day entirely.

@@lovecat4everxxx401 Well, our latest independence was technically the 8th of May 1945, from Nazi Germany, and we *do* celebrate that day.
But yes, technically we became a a independent country on the 7th of June 1905, since we didn't become a de jure part of Germany with the capitulation agreement of 1940 *assuming* that this was a capitulation of our army and *not* our goverment (the Norwegian point of view and a part of our argument about why our goverment is legitemate).
Basically if we assume that the capitulation was of the state then our fighting alongside the Brits against Germany would be against Norwegian and international law, while if it was just a limited military capitulation then our goverment in excile still remained legitemate and we remained in a state of war till the end of the world war.
Your Norwegian is perfect. Nærsnes is very close to where I grew up. A relative of mine from Nærsnes with the same name as me arrived at Ellis Island in 1910.

Everyone speak English in Norway, BUT if you speak Norwegian you completely change status. You go from just "being a foreigner" to be "One of us". Now you are able to connect "the deep friendship", which as you already know is something different, it`s more ike a covenant of loyality.
