Man, you just made me the hero to my partner. Been trying to figure out how to get our loose door handle apart to fix it, finally gave up and searched for a solution, your video came up first and within 1:52 min of your video I get the solution 😁 Getting the rosette off proved a bit more difficult than what it looked like in your video, it was tight, but I eventually got it to snap off and found that all three mounting screws were loose. Tightened those in 30 seconds, put it all back together, and we’re good to go! So thank you for sharing this, I owe you a beer, cheers! 👍🏼💥👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏻
It turned out that it needed a tiny Allen (or may have been a star) driver, to turn it. My son had the right tool for it. It’s probably supplied in the original packaging but I didn’t have it. Paper clip or anything else that tries to poke it would not work.
@@dtothemtotheaThis was my experience (see my comment on this). Required not pressing, but unscrewing (loosening) through that little hole rather than just pressing. Then as soon as I removed the Allen wrench the doorknob almost fell off. Reverse all of this to reassemble.
NOTE: Some inside knobs do not have a "press in" catch that's used to release the knob. Mine has a tiny 3/32" hex screw that requires loosening (after which you need to remove the Allen wrench) THEN the knob will slide off effortlessly. I found this out after an hour or two of looking for a catch like the ones in all these TH-cam videos, a catch that requires just pressing in for a 'click' which releases the knob. I have no idea how unusual the hex screw-type catch is, but it is very real. I used it on two door lock mechanisms that were loose and required removal of the inside knob for access to the two main screws for tightening..
Likewise. Wish I'd seen your comment first, before spending 20 minutes trying to jam the hex wrench in to release it 😅 Eventually saw the solution on a different video, and turned the hex wrench and voilà.
Just did mine after the outer lever broke off, mine actually was an Allen head that was toast, so I got a drill and it fell apart in no time, I got a bit bigger than the Allen head so it wouldn't just spin on that
my door knob in my house does not have any holes you can poke anything in what so every, the only thing I can see is a little slot on the face plate around the handle, but I tried with all my strength and that plate will not budge, how do you remove a door knob with no visible holes anywhere and with a face plate around the door handle with no holes nothing to pry it open with?
I know this reply is a little late to help you, but I kept pressing and pressing in the hole, and turns out it was a different kind of knob. Instead of a press and release, it required TURNING the hex wrench (very small one, i think 3/32") to release it.

Excellent! Issues resolved in first try. This hidden screw design was a first to me and landed here to figure it out in no time.
Thank you straight to the point
2 minutes straight to the point, thank you
Just watched this video and fixed my door knob in 5min. Thanks
Awesome video! ❤️🩵💚

Thank you! Very helpful!!
Thank you, I appreciate you!
So this is what Jonah Hill's been up to...
You were awesome in Superbad dude. A bit mean to McLovin but otherwise a good show!
Thanks you so much 🙏🏾❤️👌✨
Thnx really helped me out
Nice 👍
Theres a poke hole, but no spring, it just seems to be solid at the end of the poke hole.
How to proceed ?

Help I have a tiny screw in mine

What if you can’t get the handle to release no matter what u do or how hard u poke a tool in the hole?
If you have the poke hole, there's a release in the somewhere
If simply poking the 'catch' doesn't work, try unscrewing using an Allen wrench. Mine was 3/32" and worked perfectly.
Thanks
Thank you

Now my wife can lock me out ;-)
Thanks!!!!
They are not always spring loaded buttons, sometime you need to use a small allan key.
Cheers
Hi, where you able to remove? Mine doesn’t have any screws
IF YOU HAVE A DOOR PRE 1990, the rosette usually have to be twisted off the handle (turned to come off)
Thank you so much ❤❤❤

Hmmm...we'd have to see photos of what you have.
How do I remove this outside knob? I only see an indenture on each side of the plate. But it's hard to remove
@@71lilcynt I have the same problem, I came to the conclusion that the plate must be stuck.
My doorknob is from 1975. I cannot find the spring release in the hole. The rosette does not turn.

What do you do when the spring piece inside won’t unlock
Cool. Now put it back on? 😅

👏👏👏👍👍👍👍❤

Now what if for some reason, the rosette wont come off with the handle.
Mine had to be unscrewed.
Mine had to be gently pried off with a flat screwdriver head
@@resplendentpeaceTHANK YOU!! My doors from 1970 and I had to do this
💢💯👍
I wish i found this before i started hacking at the door knob and completely destroyed it 🥲 thanks for the video
