As someone who collects TVC and Black Series, I am really enjoying both lines. I get the best of both worlds and just laugh at everyone who pits the 2 lines against each other. I appreciate your honest opinions about what is being produced, but what keeps me engaged in this channel is your positivity and love of collecting. Keep up the good work boys!
Yep the people who genuinely pit the lines against each other are essentially advocating for their own demise. It makes no sense. To clarify our jests are just that, jokes. I totally don't mind when TVC gets amazing stuff. Both lines deserve to get great stuff! -Justin
Dude, same. Both lines have gems that look better than the counterpart. Or they look excellent either way. My main focus is TVC, but I can’t pass up a good BS Rex or the Dark Trooper seemed like a better option since I won’t be army building that sucker.. but since my pre order has taken over a year now, I’ll end up with two ✌️
I think overall, TBS is the superior line.. Although TVC does have it oddball great figures
The commando should have also came with extra arms that showed underneath the rolled up sleeve Rex's 501st armor and a set of Rex's blasters
To start 2023 Hasbro's SW team is already showing that leadership hasn't done anything to gain them favor.
How does NOBODY on the team say - "If we release Jesse inaccurate, it's going to be another reason for criticism."
Let's hope that 2023 brings us more excitement than disappointment.
I guarantee someone somewhere knows for a fact that it's inaccurate but they went through with it anyway to cut costs and fit the figure into the budget. Still...for a company like Hasbro they should be able to make it accurate no problem! Thanks for watching, SaltyTrees! -Justin
I was expecting the Endor Rebel soldier to include a trenchcoat like Endor Han did. That would make it a bit more acceptable to be a deluxe figure, but I'll still wait for it to go on sale

I have been sooo anticipating this video! Couldn’t agree more such a mixed bag of announcements. The Jesse helmet just blows me away like it should be such a layup for them smh. I spit my drink out when Nate said the “deluxe” Darth Malgus will come with a lightsaber and cloak. I was legitimately trying to think what on earth they could include with him to make him a deluxe figure. Only thing I could think of is maybe force lighting hand attachment would be cool. Still going to pick up for sure but just lots of head scratching with this line up announcement. Keep up the great work guys!

I think Nate explained the best theory during Justin’s existential crisis zoom. We have not gotten a normal PII clone helmet with a removable head yet and if they are working on pre existing pieces, may only have glued regs. But for a company of Hasbro degree, I think they should be able to work around that. It is what it is at the end of the day and hope it is atleast accessible, like how Walmart was rather stocked with their 03 clone wars figs.

I agree, was hoping for more range with the Rebel trooper, Do you think the Hoth rebel soldier faces, will be inter-changeable with Endor rebel soldier face, just took one apart and I think it might. Thought Justin was going too break out into tears of dispair over the Jesse helmet lol.

The Endor Rebel Soldier does look cool. I don't think it's 2023 Deluxe Price cool though. Am I going to get one? Yeah, Hasbro is going to extort the money out of me. Jesse I can take or leave, especially because of it's Walmart Exclusive status and the screw-ups in the sculpt. I'm definitely getting a Ki-Adi-Mundi. I want a Scout Trooper helmet but I'm not sure if it's in the budget. Any word on the retro carderd Gamorrean Guard? I want that figure the most. I have a special place on my wall for it, right next to my retro carded Marvel Legends Kingpin.
I'm certainly picking up two Endor soldiers but if there would've been some more customization I would get even more! Ki-Adi is definitely a pickup! I think that Gam Guard will be a Target exclusive. -Justin

Glad I’m not too hung up on screen accuracy with the clones. The Phase 1.5 helmet doesn’t bother me, because I actually like that look.. but I totally get the annoyance.

Hello Nate and Justin thanks for the review of the Hasbro stream. Definitely agree that the Vintage line gets a lot of love and the Black Series just gets a little kiss. After seeing the Vintage Vader, I want the removable helmet Vader for the Black Series to have the same style helmet, not just a pop off helmet. I also hope the Endor Rebel Trooper face plates are interchangeable with the Hoth Rebel Trooper. Revenge of the Jedi Vader is an exclusive I don't want so easy pass for myself also. And where are the Return of the Jedi 40 Anniversary third wave figures, the Endor Rebel Trooper is the "deluxe" figure of that wave, but where are the rest ? Oh no, another Walmart exclusive figure hopefully we can get him without too much trouble. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the stream reveals as lackluster they were. It's going to be so super easy to remove Jesse's antenna fin that I have zero problems with it. The Phase 2 helmet fits so snug that it would've probably damaged his nose and cheeks after continuous use. I took some Phase 2 helmets off a few figures and it scuffed the paint I put on the blank heads immediately.

With the Rebel soldiers, they should even with the Hoth Soldiers, they should not just Alien characters but also other Race and gender of Humans characters, like make them, black Asian and whatever for expanding the human Characters besides just being 2 male characters.

Just based on the images of the Endor Trooper, I sadly don't think the faces can swap out with the Hoth Trooper. I could be wrong, but I think the Hoth Trooper has more of the face concealed than the Endor Trooper, mainly looking at the sides, so I don't think they'll fit. I could be completely wrong though.
It's still a nice looking figure, but I would've preferred a more green design, maybe with a removable poncho, that would've earned the price for me and allowed for more varied display options. Its not quite as iconic to me as the Hoth Rebel Trooper, so I think I'll wait and hope for a price drop.
That clone helmet rant was epic though. I skip the clones anyway, I just don't have the space and there's too many of them, but the removable helmets rarely look good to me, clone or otherwise, even the best ones still look slightly off in size or proportions. I get its more plastic so they'd charge more, but I'd much rather have alternate unhelmeted heads in the black series with characters with helmets.
Yeah I haven't really zoomed in and compared the faces like that. If that ends up being true it'll be really unfortunate! And yep with that image I showed in the video of the film, all but one of them are at least wearing the camo jacket and one of them is wearing the poncho. The only explanation I've seen for "Commander Jesse" is that the official Star Wars site has him listed as Commander since Rex defected and decided to protect Ahsoka. Still...yeah really baffling decision to just use the ARC helmet. So frustrating! -Justin

Love the shirt Nate and I think TVC is how they are going to make most of the money and that’s why they are prioritizing it that’s and how the black series has had some bad sales but I collect both TVC and TBS very selective tho and Darth Malgus is one I am excited for.
As for jesses helmet controversy I plan on taking a phase 2 helmet and making jesses right helmet.

The Jesse helmet "scandal", doesn't bother me, but I understand others being bugged by it. As you say they have an accurate phase two clone helmet. Why not use it?

I love the Black Series and the Gi Joe line. After The Rancor, their Boba Fett price answers from the Q and A, QC issues and now Jesse I think it is safe to say that Hasbro sits on a throne of lies with their feet upon an ottoman of lazyness. I think Usuamike brought up a great point about how invested the team looked at the Q and A as well. I suggest new leadership is needed and move for a vote of no confidence in the Hasbro Star Wars team. As always great job and thank you both for all you do. If Hasbro put as much love and hard work into their product as you do with your channel we would have that Droideka already :)

I'm not *happy* about Jesse's helmet but that's more because it makes it harder for me to justify the purchase - i keep the buckets on so for me he's essentially a second Echo. Hard sell but luckily nothing else struck my fancy so it's gonna be easier to justify him.
Edit: oooh and the Endor Commando has me contemplatin'; it's TECHNICALLY an Old Man Rex which TECHNICALLY makes him a clone figure but i got no Rebel Alliance display and no plans on making one... hard sell, maybe one for the Missfits Corner.

The Jesse issue is a not a simple one. The Arc trooper helmet is sculpted slightly different from the regular phase 2 helmet. I think hasbro simply went with consistency rather than accuracy.
Yes the ARC Trooper helmet is a pretty different design...that's the issue. Jesse doesn't wear the ARC helmet. Which makes the figure inaccurate and inconsistent with Jesse's design. -Justin

I have a feeling Ki-Adi Mundi will not be in a Revenge Of The Sith package. 2018 was our last Revenge Of The Sith cardback in TVC. Why are products working around Revenge Of The Sith? Is the licensing costs more? Even Black Series made Aayla Secura an “Attack of The Clones” figure. And so many Attack Of The Clones Jedi were put out that could have been ROTS. The TVC 501st repack was on a clone wars card, the new clone is an an Andor box. What’s going on with ROTS??? Not everything has to be Clone Wars. Something is off.
I’m fairly certain they mentioned his live action appearance in Attack of the Clones. So yep I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not ROTS packaging! 👀 -Justin

I really think that Revenge Vader looks pretty damn cool. A con exclusive so that's a pass. Lol. The Endor Trooper is a disappointment, based on price and "accessories," I mean lack of. As for Jesse, having Hasbro, a multi-billion dollar company not caring enough to get their own product right is just wrong on all levels, then a Walmart exclusive is the cherry on top. Ugh. Atleast Ki-Adi and Scout Trooper helmet is amazing. Definitely getting that helmet. Great episode. 👍

I recently saw a video where they compared dark trooper whit Vader and K2S0 I have no remorse picking it up on sale. Malgus being deluxe is just as baffeling. The TVC reveal makes me hope Piett gets an archive next year.

Put the picture of the ki adi mundi figure up on your screen next to the picture of the rebel commando and compare the paint between the two figures. Ki adi mundi is typical of standard black series now in terms of paint - meaning he has none (besides the face print).
The rebel commando on the other hand has tons of paint on the pants alone, both front and back. The helmet also has paint. The backpack also has paint. The little items mounted to the chest strap have paint. It’s night and day.
I’m not saying that I agree that the paint alone should warrant the cost increase, because I can’t say one way or the other. I don’t work in the toy industry (and neither do 99.9% of collectors) so I don’t know how much the labor and materials in the overall production process costs. My point is that standard figures just don’t get much paint at all anymore. Deluxe figures do.
There is a difference between those two figures. People may not like it, but that is the state of the line going on about two years now. The application of paint in this line is not the same as it was even in the red box days. It’s clearly changed, and has been changed for at least 2 years or so. If a figure requires a decent amount of paint detail to be realized, chances are it’s going to be deluxe, regardless of figure size, regardless of newness of sculpt, and regardless of amount of included accessories.
The Hoth rebel trooper is a figure that started production and I think was even released before hasbro most recently renegotiated their contract with lucasfilm/Disney. It is my belief that it was around the time of this renegotiation that the amount of paint we started to see on mainline figures changed. I would bet a dollar that the amount per figure that hasbro has to share with L/D increased as part of that negotiation, which changed hasbros calculus on production budget and expenditure per standard figure. the result is figures requiring paint now are a deluxe price point so hasbro can keep their margin after paying Disney.
I genuinely think you are misinterpreting our take. I was fully expecting this copy & paste "put the pictures next to each other" comment when I was editing this video, haha. I know you bring up that point a lot and I've seen your comments on other people's videos as well. I understand why they do things, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it or be otherwise happy with it as a customer. I understand the explanation. I understand colored plastic vs. actual paint apps. But the idea that a figure simply having paint on it makes it $10 more expensive is something I am not a fan of in the slightest. Yes I know they recently renewed the license and all that. But to do a near $10 jump just because the figure has paint on it?!? Maybe a few dollars here and there but an almost $10 jump on something that is otherwise a pretty regular (yet beautiful) looking figure...it's very annoying. And there are figures in mainline that have paint on them. But yes I understand the camo on the pants is plentiful and intricate. I fully understand why things are the way they are with it, but that doesn't mean you have to be happy with it or accepting. -Justin

I’m simply pointing out there is a difference between paint apps now on deluxe figs and mainline figs and that should be acknowledged in an honest evaluation of what hasbro is doing. As you say, you don’t have to be happy about it, but we all should recognize it.
To a large degree I share in your skepticism on the cost of the paint but at the end of the day none of us really know because we are not privy to the production process. Would be great for Spector creative to weigh in on this. Maybe you guys could get him on a stream some week??
Even better I think it would be great for hasbro to do a behind the scenes making of kind of marketing piece that details all the steps and labor and process that flies into creating something like a boba Fett.
Hope you take my post for what it is intended to be which is just my own opinion and interpretation on what I see going on in the line right now. As you said I’ve made these comments before which I will continue to do as I think it’s warranted as part of the discussion around the deluxe price point.
Yeah it's all good. I didn't mean for that to come off as combative, but the way the "compare the two pictures" narrative is always mentioned, I read it as you thinking we don't understand the "why" when it comes to the deluxe thing. I totally get why, but I dislike the reasoning. I will say if it really does have to be an extra $10 for paint...paint the whole figure. Plenty of missing paint apps on Saw, Cobb Vanth, the weapons on the Commando are unpainted, etc. If they really do need to charge a whole additional Alexander Hamilton....paint the figure. -Justin

I really enjoy talking about the line with reasonable collectors and as I’ve said before that is one reason why I gravitated towards OOTB when I started collecting three years ago- you guys are pretty level headed which unfortunately is a far too uncommon trait amongst the Star Wars collecting community.
Even at the deluxe price point there is obviously a limit for how much paint get applied. Like the Cobb example not every square inch gets painted. It all comes down to that calculus of budget per figure and how much they have to share with L/D. I do think it all really changed quite a bit after that last renegotiation. I’m actually more disappointed that standard figures have so little paint than I am at paying more for the paint on the deluxe’s. End of the day though I still enjoy the line tremendously.

Why does it seem like Hasbro avoids revenge of the Sith. Any time they have a Jedi that’s in the prequel‘s they put him in a clone wars attack of the clones or Phantom Menace box even if they’re more prominent role was in revenge of the Sith. And then the clone troopers are also always in a clone wars box or style. I think that Disney or Hasbro saves money off of intellectual property from things that are not revenge of the Sith but I have no way to prove that it must be some sort of deal with George Lucas or Disney

@@OutOfTheBasement since 2018 TVC has not had a single revenge of the sith figure. Can you believe that? It’s clear as day to me they have something against it. The repack of a TVC 501st trooper was on a clone wars card back along all other Jedi and clones. They even put ROTS Aayla Secura in a 2D clone wars card back. Something is wrong, I can sense a disturbance in the force. I think a great example of this for me personally is the black line. They know that people want the black line but they did clone wars style 212th troopers again in TVC after already receiving tons of feedback about the black line.

I do find the helmet on Jesse very disappointing. But if I had to find a positive on it I think the ARC helmet looks cooler. I’m just going to take off the rangefinder and I’m going to trim the antenna(Mohawk) off.

Enjoyed this ep, guys. The inaccuracy on Jesse is a letdown, planning to pick him up only when he goes on discount/clearance. On a positive note, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Endor Rebel, which shouldn't be deluxe, are fantastic-looking figures and I can't wait to pick those up.

I was looking forward to one figure lately, which was Jesse. I'm really upset about the mistake they made, just like you Justin, you're not the only one with those feelings.
They continue to amaze when it comes to mistakes they can make, like Lukeness said in his video, it kind of destroys that moment at the end of season 7 when you see Jesse's helmet which is clearly just a phase 2 helmet. So no fin, no rangefinder. (Also, what's up with his name? "Clone commander Jesse"? He isn't a commander last time I checked.)
I don't see why they messed this up besides cutting costs by re-using the same mold as the other ARC-troopers. And they could have cut down on plastic use by just using a phase 2 helmet.
I'm part of the hypocrite party aswell seeing as I'm still getting it.

The only explanation I've seen for "Commander Jesse" is that the official Star Wars site has him listed as Commander since Rex defected and decided to protect Ahsoka. Still...yeah really baffling decision to just use the ARC helmet. So frustrating! -Justin

TVC is certainly hitting it out of the park. The Black series hasbro team seem to be dragging their heels by comparison. As someone who collects both lines, it doesn’t bother me too much, but I can understand the disappoint if you are only a black series collector.
TVC is getting inaccurate things as well. Such as the Aldhani Mission Cassian. The Black Series is actually more accurate...but yeah TVC has indeed been killing it! -Justin

I think we explain it well enough, you're just trying to look for some kind of slam dunk. The "Fordo" was never explicitly marketed as Captain Fordo, it's simply a Phase I ARC Trooper. Now let's say it was specifically supposed to be Fordo...we still think it works as just a regular Phase I ARC Trooper. Jesse is specifically marketed as Jesse, it's a super specific character down to his paint apps, face, packaging, etc. -Justin

Personally, the Jesse thing is a non-issue. Honestly, if everyone wasn't loosing their minds over it; I would have never noticed it wasn't 100% accurate. But I can see why some people are upset. As far as the Commando, how do we know it's a deluxe? They didn't discuss pricing did they? If it is; I would say it's a combination of 100% new sculpt, extra faceplate and the engineering required to design the swap gimmick, and that backpack. Also the paint apps on the pants.
I think it was a pretty well known thing to be worried about because they made the same mistake with the 2020 TVC release. That plus the fact that they quite literally have the sculpt for a hollow/removable Phase II helmet...it's ridiculous. We know it's deluxe because they refer to it as deluxe when it was initially pipelined, we are 99.99% sure it's deluxe. The Hoth Rebel Soldier also had a 100% new sculpt, faceplates, backpack, etc. I just don't think proper paint apps should = extra $10. Thanks for watching as always, Kaleb! -Justin

That was probably my favorite POTF figure I never had as a kid. I’m planning to grab 3 - 2 to open and display alternate face sculpts and one to leave on card for nostalgia sake.
To be fair for Jesse we can pull that range finder off and dremel the fin down to phase II shape. I'm not excusing their blatant mistake, but Jesse fans have this option

I'm not too excited for the scout trooper, I love collecting the black series helmets to my liking, the latest one I got is bo katan which is amazing, but a generic scout trooper is so boring. I would literally pay $150 for a black series pre vizla helmet, or a 212 airborne trooper helmet, a commander wolfee one, could go on forever, but a scout trooper? Definitely a lame choice imo
To us OT purists, the Scout Trooper helmet is the perfect choice. The Clone Wars kids will have plenty of repaints on that new clone helmet. -Justin
