Hi Rob :) Great video! Very entertaining. I loved the CB talk in the beginning of the video. Brings back memories. I have been a CB radio operator off and on since about 1975. This is quite the trail. Some really, really sketchy and narrow patches of road going up there. I don't currently own a 4 X 4, but I want to get a nice Toyota 4-Runner. As a ham radio operator, I have always wanted to see what the top of Santiago Peak looked like. It's like a small city of radio towers up there. I have made many a communication through a couple of the radio repeaters up there. I love the views you captured from the top of the peak :)
Hi John- Well, this is too funny! Your timing is amazing, because I literally just took my Technician's license exam a few hours ago (and passed with a 100% score). Now I will start studying for the General. I've been thinking about Santiago peak a lot lately since I started studying HAM and the use of repeaters.
Rob, congrats on your Tech ticket. That is awesome!! I am also a Technician Class, since 1993. I need get a new radio. Mine broke a few years back. There are a lot of options for radios. I believe the BARC repeater at 146.925 is still active on top of Santiago Peak. I will shoot you an email with my call sign. At some point in time, it would be cool to talk on the air :) Again, congrats! :)
Hi Rob. Yes, you definitely want to wait until you get that FCC License in the mail. Most licensed hams won't talk to you until you do, as most of them will clear if they don't get a call sign identifier from you. If you go into my TH-cam channel, in the "about" tab, you will find my email address. Shoot me an email some time :) Talk soon :)

Doesn't look like your email is published on TH-cam. What the heck. My ham call is KE6CEB. Talk to you soon :)
@@Big824John Sounds good John. I guess I can't talk until I get my call sign from the FCC. When I do, I will look you up!

I have regular street tires. I am going to take that trail and then to main divide. Should I air down?
Can 2wd truck's handle this trail?
I would say no, unless you want to stay there. I drove it in my 4x4 Isuzu Rodeo.
Yes it can if you can lock your rear your going to need them
Did this trail in my 2wd 4runner. It’s doable just pick your lines and mind your rear tire placement.
