It is Nick singing here. His voice hasn't changed that much since he sang on "Islands", at least when he's singing, which is all I know. The bass too is unmistakable.
This would make a great instrumental as well. I wish game developers hired bands like Kajagoogoo and other artists to do soundtracks so that it gets their names out there to more people. Mabey it's too expensive, but I think it would be worth it with the right games.
Been listening to some some New Romantics (Duran Duran, Depeche Mode) and how they got so many million albums sold and lots of awards, but they sound boring and I don't finish listening to their songs much. I heard their hits on the radio but their music never interested me enough to want more of it. ~~~ I was not a fan of Kajagoogoo back in the day either but that opening bassline from Too Shy certainly got my attention. But they faded from the radio and I never knew their name until just last Thanksgiving. So after listening to the New Romantic era biggies today and then coming here and hearing this for their first time, these guys do more interesting music, to me. This song has a sound all its own with a mixture of jazz, prog, funk, and pop. I think the incredible texture of their music is every bit as deserving of accolades and awards. And if lady luck had smiled on them and they had stayed together, I think they would have been very successful. At the same time I will grant that Nick Beggs has had a remarkable career and doing brilliant work these days.
