8 best, 3 are from Burke St Bakery - the same tart as you list plus their lemon tart (again not too sweet) and their Soy and Linseed Bread. 4) Anything from Cairo Take Away lol 5) Baklava icecream from Hakiki again weirdly not too sweet 6) char kway teow from Ho Jiak Haymarket 7) when you need something appalling sweet to fix hangovers the baby gulab jamons from Maya Sweets 8) anything from Long Chim
My 8 (apart from any in your video) would be: (1) Strawberry watermelon cake from Black Star - it’s viral for a reason haha, I still get it even though it’s a bit overpopular (2) Gelato from Mapo Newtown (3) Scones & sandwiches from the Tea Cosy in the Rocks (4) Ricotta pancakes from Bills (with bacon on the side) (5) Coffee & breakfast at Room Ten in Potts Point (6) Fingerbun from Humble Bakery (7) Chicken, chips & salad takeaway - either El Jannah or Chargrill Charlie’s depending on location (8) Smalls Deli sandwich
ahhh I love this list! I was thinking about the strawberry water melon cake but thought it might be a tad overhyped, but you're right - it's kinda popular for a reason.
Black Star has really gone down hill since they seem to have franchised it. The Zetland Black Star was a fantastic place to go for breakfast/lunch. Not anymore, since they stopped trying and just concentrated on chasing the dollars.

Hey Janice! Im travelling to Sydney later this year and I've subscribed and been binging your videos because im so excited! I just wanted to say thank-you for all the awesome tips and detailed descriptions, you videos are very entertaining and helpful. So glad i found you!
Not what you requested, but my favorite food was the tiger pie. The peas, potatoes, and gravy are perfect. Haven't been to Sydney yet thus cannot recommend anything. Thanks enjoyed the nosh vlog.
I would have chosen most of these, certain things just scream Aussie like meat pie and Harry's is the best. Classic sausage roll. For the burger it HAS to have beetroot on it. Steak in Australia is world quality, before the big waygu craze it was all Australian Angus at the best restaurants. Obviously being on the water our seafood is top notch. I'd also say a Turkish kebab shop for either a kebab or pide. Heaps of bakeries seem to be Vietnamese so they will probably have Bahn Mi, if they don't you can grab a sausage roll there. For deserts I'd say an Anzac biscuit or a lamington. Great list Janice.
I love the fish market it’s a family tradition that we go there a few times a year and I agree Oysters 🦪 are DELISH ..I love the restaurants and places you went too I can’t wait for part 2 ..x❤❤
I haven’t been down there for years but whenever my brother comes in from overseas he’ll always go to Paul’s Famous Hamburgers in Sylvania on the south side of Tom Uglys Bridge. They’ve been making burgers there since 1957. Always had huge lines when I was down that way and as well as the old school Aussie hamburgers they do a delicious pineapple crush drink. When I think of quintessential Australian places Paul’s is right up there.
